So this would act as an attenuator to drive the amp at higher volumes without getting kicked out from home? I’m in!!🎉🎉

Nice idea and nicely done. Good for close miking but I personally should leave a bit more space between the box and the amplifier. And be carefull with closing too long with tube amps which can get hot and need ventilation.

Dude I love how simple and effective this is. Thanks!

Best solution I've seen, easiest to build, easiest to setup mic and amp. Probably the lightest too. On the counterpart heaviness makes the whole thing more quiet, but I guess for me that's okay.

    Cheeky youngsters,
tell them you're thinking about building a teenager sized box so you can get a break from their noise, haha,

I'm going to do this. Thanks so much

So this is a solid state amp and is too dangerous for tubes?

put actual acoustic foam and you'll be good there is serious phase issues with bed foam only

Nice video. I have a BlackStar HT-5R (Combo amp) and I'm wondering if I can get a overheat problem using a Isobox.

The ISO Boxes are mostly for Cabinet Speaker boxes so that the main Amp ( which gets hot) is on your DAW counter. You can't put an Amp Head+ Speaker Cabinet box inside ISO box. For combo amps this sucks of course as you can't have fans running, you could build fan ducting into the box and run the fan when you are not recording.

@@danfuerthgillis4483 So what this guy built is dangerous and shouldn’t be done? He put his combo in it

    • @danfuerthgillis4483

@@noahchasinguitar5831 What he did has nothing to do with micing a cab speaker inside an ISO box which is what most guitar guys build so it’s not only quiet but the amp head sits on the counter so the heat is not inside the box. The box is also larger in order to put the mic with its small stand pointed at the cab speakers. This guy just built a box for his combo amp to tone down the volume. Real ISO boxes are larger and require acoustic foam to be glued on the panels in the inside. You can not leave a combo amp that gets hot inside these boxes. This is why you put a cab box inside and the amp head outside. Most small combo amps don’t produce too much heat so he’s okay.

Thanks, but it would’ve been much more helpful if you presented next to a sample without the box...

I like it but it's gotta be hot on the electronics.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Lol just fucking with you man, it’s actually right on point. Just remember that the key to influencing your listeners is to tweak out those recordings so they sound absolutely amazing, so spend a little bit more time on your tone controls.. But it’s definitely a great way to record
