    This was helpful. I'm curious: when they test out vaccines, do they also do these as placebo/double-blind experiments to check for any potential negative effects?

    • @HCkev
      @HCkev 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. If a number of people get sick and all or most of them are in the experimental group and not in the placebo group, then we can tell this is most likely adverse effect of the medecine being tested. However, if there are about as much people who got sick in both groups, then we can attribute the adverse effect to other variables.

    This might be a stupid question, but if the experimenters don't know who got what, then who does know? How do they know what the results are at the end of the experiment if they don't know who got what?

    What's the difference between a blind experiment and a double blind experiment?

    • @sagittarian21
      @sagittarian21 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both experiment and subjects are not aware. I think in the former either the experimenter or the volunteer will have knowledge. Consent. If you have not given it then all are subject to a lawsuit that they will never recover from. In these cases these types of people will kill or commit suicide. It happened in the chantix study in BC. Yet 43 million poured int BC politics because of power, control and money. who has money right now? who has money to burn? I do not know any North Americans that are that rich. You cannot blame the Chinese on this one. You cannot blame biotech. Let's blame GOD since someone played GOD by posting this in 2015. The person that told me about TH-cam she is in a different state. Let's go loca with conspiracy theories.

    • @ParadymShiftVegan
      @ParadymShiftVegan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just depends on what intervention you're testing. For example, we will never have double-blinded randomized trials for smoking being causally associated with lung cancer since it is considered unethical to deliberately bring potential death or great suffering to a person simply as collateral in pursuit of more articulate knowledge.
