oh man god bless for slogging through Fourth Wing for our entertainment. Good to know about another progression fantasy to try, and I also absolutely loved Rhythm of War!! I also thought the first few hundred pages of Wind and Truth were underwhelming....hopefully it picks up and starts to recapture the magic of the previous books!
I'm about 700 pages into Wind and truth and it is wild! I can see why part one might be underwhelming, but as you said Sanderson always has a plan, you can can count on that
Definitely a bit of a slow start but I think Sanderson is going to be setting up some mini Sanderlanches throughout it. I just can’t see him doing it everything at the end (I’m about a third of the way through). I can’t wait for the Iron Flame review! Also my wife said the same thing about the swearing, way too much. At least some authors invent no curses so that they are fun and interesting.
yea im a third of the way in on wind and truth and its pretty underwhelming. but like you said midway to the ending is sandersons expertise. Its annoying knowing the first half will suck but id much rather the beginning suck than a sour end any day
I thought day one of Windy Truth was fantastic. Felt like all the characters were saying good bye and ready to die on this big finale. It sets up all the characters individual final hurdles. I’m on day two now and the story is kinda just plodding along, a few uninteresting scenes and lots of stuff we have already seen from the previous books. Still blockbuster stuff though and am enjoying it.
Interesting thought experiment: You say the first quarter of Rascor Plains was bad and yet you went on to give it 5 stars. What do you think is the maximum amount of a book that can be bad before you couldn't give the rest, amazing as it may be, a 5 star? Could a hypothetical perfect ending save a bad book into 5 stars?
Its beyond me how you get so much reading done with your busy life
Me: *Barely finished a book this month*
Matt: “Aaaand I’m done!”
@@callum7081 Thats trippy... I was thinking about naming my first son Calum.. Do you like your name?
Great video Matt 🎉
I loved Warlords of Wyrdwood. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it once you get to it!
Can't wait for Wind and Truth review!
He already did that review, remember?
@ haha such a tease

As an audio engineer, the Navani storyline where she studies phase cancellation was a highlight for me 😂
I really miss playing competitive sports with my friends. You’re making me nostalgic

Did not know you are a NorCal Niners fan girl dad! You have at least one fan who is also those things. Your description of Iron Flame had me dying 😂
Bang bang niner gang!
Man I understand, but I'm really sad we didn't get review video for row :(
I hope we get one for wind and truth
yay

It's a good question, and I've never seen a book that was "bad" in my book be saved by an ending. But I wouldn't totally discount that to be honest.
What’s progression fantasy?
Kind of like video gamey fantasy where the characters are constantly getting more powerful.
Where characters get clear power ups after achieving certain milestone.
Fourth wing is so terrible! I’m early on in wind and truth. I like the slice of life vibe of the slow pace.
