That is a garish map, I don't get why they did not go with normal topography colour or just any other than eye hurting red. The area lines are almost invisible... The gameplay and theme look good... But that map...
Not just the map, the whole font and art-style of the game makes it feel like some cheap Zombie apocalypse game, not very respectful or worthy of the subject matter imo
@@TheFilipFonky It might have been made on a budget, I get that... but there are some usability problems, like also the cards just using names of areas, Marco is from that region, so i guess it was intuitive for him, but I can imagine spending a lot of time scanning the board with each card draw...
Hello there, I see where you're coming from, but red was chosen for the map after much thought as it evokes both the sacrifice (on the partisan's and civilian part) and the dominant political connotation of most brigades from the specific area (though, in this regard, the game does not involve any direct "political" element). So it became at some point clear that the game had, in some sense, to be "red". The complementary green is instead a fitting environmental prop (that valley is very green and lush, being one of the rainiest areas in Italy). Finally, in general, it's very difficult to judge a board's visual impact from a video, as the lighting is often misleading.
@@mikolajwitkowski8093 Marco is not from the area, as far as I know, and I'd be very surprised if he had ever heard of the vast majority of the towns depicted (most of which are tiny hamlets). However, all the territories' names that are mentioned on cards are properly highlighted on the map. In fact, most playtesters were also unfamiliar with the region and never had much trouble in locating places (Marco didn't mention such a problem either), so I'd say this usability problem does not apply here.
@@TheFilipFonky Hundreds and hundreds of hours were spent unstintingly, free artwork was produced by an accomplished, professional painter and a substantial personal financial investment was made for this project, whose entire proceeds will be donated to the Audiovisual Museum of the Resistance and the circle "Archivi della Resistenza". All this was done precisely out of respect for the subject matter.
