@@viafisz5100 I agree. I would also have pleaded guilty at appeal, if it meant that my time in prison would be reduced to half. Prison is not a good place to be and I imagine It must have been especially bad in prison for Seungri as a famous celebrity - especially with all the mis-information about his case. The judges comments seemed to highlight that gambling and prostitution are considered sinful in SK and implied that famous cases need to be used as examples - so I don't think that things would have changed at appeal anyway. Attitudes towards gambling and prostitution (as long as the prostitutes aren't forced or abused) are generally different in the US. Gambling, especially if it is only occaisionally like Seungri did, is not an issue. Whether Seungri was aware of his colleague hiring prostitutes or not, in the US culture prostitution is seen differently. E.g. I remember in an episode of friends where Ross's friends hired a prostitute for him (in las vegas I think!) Also, look how successful the story of Pretty Woman was with the lead female being a prostitute hired by the lead male. The female prostitutes in the Seungri case were not forced and not abused based on what I have read of their testimonies or from any evidence in the actual trial.
Here are some facts about Seungri’s ”scandal”. He was an essential part of Bigbang. I'm still heartbroken about what happened to him. I wish he would come back but it's not likely at least for a long time. And knowing what koreans and knetz are like... not likely. It's a long and complicated story of what happened and why he left but to summarise it was a super messy and a very public witch hunt. And anti-Seungri people, please read all the way through before hating on me in the comments. I'll just give a very general story of how it went here for you: It started in early 2019 with the Burning Sun club issues (sexual harrasment in the club, money laundring etc.) and grew up to be the worst scandal ever. All the headlines were: Seungri’s club Burning Sun has done this and that, Seungri involved in this and that. Right after the the Burning Sun issues the Jung Joon Young’s chat issue rose up and the headlines were again Seungri’s chat… He got blamed for doing ugly things that weren’t true, and yes it has been proven he WAS NOT a part of JJY’s chat case of secretly photographing girls and rape, at all. The police concluded that JJY had Seungri’s number on his phone and they had been texting about a common restaurant bisness only. All the guilty people were sent to prison already. Some reporters even made very ugly things up to get bigger and bigger headlines and were later sentenced to prison for that. It got very dark and ugly. It felt like an actual witch hunt to get Seungri’s head with more and more worse and worse headlines every day for months all just about how horribly terrible person he is. There were public appeals made for him to commit suicide... that is not ok. He was the most loved maknae one day and the next everybody hated his guts. The police started a full on investigation about everyhting about his life, work and businesses (he owned or co-owned clubs, restaurants etc) to find ANY sign or proof of his wrongdoings. The investigation was later transferred to the army prosecution as he was doing his military service. They even forced him and all of Bigbang members to have drug tests, all were negative (South Korea has VERY strict drug laws). They tried to dig up evidence against him for gambling (illegal for Korean citizens), arranging escort ladies for business partners in Japan etc for 3 years and got NOTHING. After all the noise that was made with this whole mess they needed to get him on something so they just accused him anyways without any evidence. Early in 2022 Seungri got 1,5 years in prison because he admitted to the charges of gambling and arranging escort ladies in Japan (even though the escort ladies testified it wasn't Seungri who had arranged them to be there). He was released in spring 2023. In South Korea the conviction rate is 99% in court cases which is absurdly high. It’s practically impossible to get an innocent verdict in a court hearing. In South Korea it’s more appropiate to admit guilt whether you are guilty or not, do your time and reflect on your ”wrongdoings” and you might have a chance still in the future. So even though Seungri was adamant for the past 3 years of not addmitting guilt he was probably very very tired and exhausted after all this time so it was a better option for him considering the future. The media has never cleared his name in the older issues about him so most kpop fans (who don't bother to find out about the facts or just like to have someone to hate) and koreans still think it's all him as they used his name during the scandal: - Seungri's club burning sun (in reality he owned about 5% of the club’s shares, never did any management of the club and only DJ'd there sometimes), - Seungri's chat (was proven by the police investigators he was not part of the chat) etc. Because it's Seungri, he was part of the most loved group by the general public and a very popular member, everybody even all the grandma’s knew who he is, and an international megastar (imagine this happening to Jungkook (BTS), that's what it was like). The shock value was enourmous. They got a lot more readers that way so the scandals, especially the chat scandal, were tied to him closely even though it never was him. All the while the issues some of us are certain they wanted to cover with Seungri's case are totally forgotten. The SOPA scandal before and the money laundring cases that were revealed after the Burning Sun issues, both included some very important people high up in SK. As Seungri's scandal got more blown out all the other scandals were buried under it and forgotten. I still get so mad just thinking about this whole issue and how Seungri's life and career are ruined forever. Some people are starting to belittle Seungri's effect on Kpop while he was in Bigbang because of this. The truth is his and Bigbang’s impact on kpop was enormous, they changed the whole industry to what it is now, no matter what happened after. If you are guilty you have to pay for your crimes but this very public witch hunt was way over the proportion of his crimes, which are at the level of gambling... Sorry for the long rant. I'm just mad and heartbroken about this still. Bigbang is 5. VIP Until Whenever.
FYI Seungri of Bigbang was not Jailed because of trafficking women. Burning Sun Club is not his. He is jailed because of gambling overseas beyond the amount Korean Laws allowed. They tried to accuse him of women trafficking but the witnesses or women involved defended Seungri that he is not part of the group trafficking. Bigbang is huge that media tried to bring them down.
Accusations should only be for crimes that a criminal has been found guilty of. Reading about the actual court records, it seems that the police did deep investigations into Seungri and found NO evidence of trafficking women in the sense that trafficking involves threat, force or exploitation - none of this applied to the sex workers in this case. Seungri was accused of benefiting from a business partner employing sex workers to entertain potential investors for a business that they both had financial interest in. The sex workers were not forced to take the job against their will and were not abused or exploited. The sex workers in their testimony in court said that they were employed by a different man who also had a financial interest in the same business as Seungri and that the arrangement was made with this other man. Even the other man said in court that it was him that arranged it. From what I have read about the court reports, the judge said that hiring prostitutes was a moral sin and with a high profile case a message had to be given about this breach of morals. Even though the witnesses all said in court that Seungri was not involved in making the arrangements, the judge felt he must have been aware about it - although the evidence was not clear that he was. In South Korea, sex workers have been protesting for sone years for their right to work as sex workers without it being a criminal act. This of course dies not include those women (and men) who are forced into it against their will and are threatened or abused. I find the moral stance of some westerners about a woman's right to work as a sex worker by choice - especially when I don't recall a huge public and media outcry about e.g. the Friends episode where Ross's friends arrange and pay for a sex worker for him. Or about the film Pretty Woman where the fenale lead was a sex worker and the male lead was the person that hired her as a sex worker.

Commentors can please look into what he was actually put into court for. He was never accused for sexual assualt and sex trafficking and the whole thing was blown up by the media. He was falsely accused and it was so bad they had to try him for anything because public backlash was insane even if there was initially nothing to put him in court for. They had to try him for breaking food sanitation regualations. They tried to try him for assault only for the victim to hug him in court saying he was not the one at fault. They claim he did prostitution mediation for men who came to his party. Men that brought their wives and kids to said party. They could only say he was guilty for gambling. In vegas. Once. Something that regular people are only fined for. Can we please stop spreading lies now. People should not be jailed just because people say so and be sentenced guilty without proof and just because the public would be mad and police would loose their jobs if people found out they blew up allegations and media made a circus out of it?
@@Jenniii86 its a sad thing to see. I mean we know that history is written by the victor but its a different sort of misery when you see it happen first hand. How the truth is burried by haters and algorithm. Its actually difficult to dig up decent news about the case because the ones google will show is the most viewed and the most viewed news were the lies. I tried to look em up. Its hard. And i know the world is in chaos and this is a tiny tiny injustice compared to everything but its the tiny injustices that is easiest to digest and is proof that we shouldnt judge anyone easily.
Just wondering when people will learn to read articles properly, no just headlines, and will keep checking the case till the end not just what they wanted to hear. Seungri was not involved in the Burning sun scandal at all. That reporter used his name to make that case big and admitted it after a few weeks (she literally ruined his and Bigbang's reputation). He was under investigation for a long time and they could find evidence only for gambling and that's all. But because of the public's negative reaction, the court just sent him to jail for almost two years (though for gambling he could just pay a fine). So, I don't think that it's fair to keep talking about that case as if he was involved in all of those things. K-media just ruined his career and Bigbang's reputation for nothing.
Would love for you guys to react to Bigbang live. Its an experience. And its really boring at this point for other fandoms to quickly bring Seungri to sabotage a reaction. If you do do a reaction next time, baring in mind VIPs are going to be the ones clicking on the video, itd be much appreciated fi you just told the chat from the start you werent interested in that. Also you'll save yourselves from OT5 crazies in your comment section. To sum up, Seungri did nowhere near the things most people say, but enough to have left the group and never return. Its up to you guys what you do of course, just a suggestion. I hope it doesnt put you off them because delving deep will show you how much of kpop has been influenced by them, from BTS, to Blackpink, to Seventeen, to pretty much every group, and they broke so many barriers,. Informe Se primero.
He did have other charges, but agree that they were not for the bad things that the commenters wrote.
I'd suggest make. $ㅌ @Rㄷ ㅐ 4
- Verdict Former BigBang Seungri receives 3 year sentence in prison.
- Au ㅜㅐ0R Sabah S Themis
@@iolog513 en realidad sólo estuvo un año y medio debido a que esos cargos los acepto, aunque no todo fueron ciertos, debido a concejo de sus abogados. Salió en los primeros meses del año pasado.
The media has never cleared his name in the older issues about him so most kpop fans (who don't bother to find out about the facts or just like to have someone to hate) and koreans still think it's all him as they used his name during the scandal:
- Seungri's club burning sun (in reality he owned about 5% of the club’s shares, never did any management of the club and only DJ'd there sometimes),
- Seungri's chat (was proven by the police investigators he was not part of the chat) etc.
RAIN ❤❤❤
EXID B sides are next level.
Aún ahora siguen haciendo lo. A parte de toda esa gente que no se informa antes de hacer comentarios desatinados.
he was deeply involved dont defend a criminal
@@gummishere he not, u shld not said anything if u not follow his case, habit for bad people always judge without research
Or about the film Pretty Woman where the fenale lead was a sex worker and the male lead was the person that hired her as a sex worker.
your chat deprived yall from Up and Down... thats a crime and I agree with them that EXIDs killing voice is outstanding-

YESS A RAIN REACTIONNSNSNSN
You gotta do Rain’s Killing Voice as well
More Big Bang
The seungri defenders here in the comments is the exact reason why I don't like watching ppl react to bigbang or anything bigbang related in general bc his fans will try to gaslight you to believe that man was innocent they act like hes a child that had no idea what went down in HIS nightclub he deserved to be locked up for life along with everyone else involved
Mates, if you cut this entire live-video, and make a different video for each video you reacted to, you'll have a video to post on your channel by the end of the year. Here's a tip. lol
Tvxq ❤❤❤❤

Ah, finally. Someone with a brain!!! Hello friend! :D I just wrote a similar comment.
BIGBANG 💛
I LOVE THESEE
BIGBANG

Plus there music is great.
Do not listen to all those people defending Seungri.
I can understand why you might say that, and I am not defending Seungri about his conviction, I accept that, but ask you to confirm what that conviction was factually for. Suggest U do $ㅌ @R 대 4:

Ms Themis, journalist, has a B.S. of Political Science, J.D. in Law and LL.M in International Law and is very objective. She writes based on the actual court reports and I believe that she was present at the trial.
Sorry, no way I was going to sit through 4 hours of so much pausing and talking and so few music videos.
ok no need to announce it.
No TVXQ5 and JYJ?!? Seriously?👎👎
I'm shocked nobody recommended S.E.S. Fin.K.L or baby V.O.X
Not the ninja assassin reference, did you guys know he is literally ninja assassin or was it coincidence cos if it was that's mad
