Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Nah
I know this family - they’re a beautiful family - a farming family who are feeding our great country. They’re good people and we talk often.
Totally jealous!!! My son is 13yo and is high functioning autistic and loves ALL things big farm machinery, cars, trucks, and the mechanics that goes along with it. He has been watching the Welker family since right about a year after they started their YT channel in 2012 and he figured out how to get to YT on my phone and he's been watching Zach and Family since they started in 2016. He is the one who told me exactly what years they started their channels. lol. He will watch other YT farming channels but he absolutely adores and loves Zach and Nick. Because of these two families my son has always had been adamant that he is going to buy his own land/farm and he's going to be a farmer and on that land he's going to have a mechanic shop for local farmers to bring their farming equipment for maintenance/repairs and he's also going to have a mobile mechanic trailer and truck so if they can't bring the equipment to him than he can bring the shop to them and do maintenance/repairs. His biggest dream is to meet Zach and family and to meet Nick and family in person and he would be beside himself if he was able to visit their farms.
Your father is one awesome man. He knows what he’s doing and he does it well.
Thunder is a him. He puts his nozzle in everything.
Lol 👍👍
😊That's what she said. 😂
Agreed, although you never know these days.
nah. just a chubby chaser. sticks it in heavy equipment.
The “see ya later” is timeless. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve watched that movie…it’s time again.
Zach, I've been a subscriber since 2016 and watch all your videos as they come out. After several hundred videos, today's was the most enjoyable, informative, and actually taking viewers into the thought process and planning that goes into a successful farming operation. You and Nate make a great team and it is inspiring to see how you each contribute your talents to your operation. Keep up the good work, lad!! I appreciate you.
That spray trailer is wicked my friend...looks to be an excellent investment for yall!
Nates living his best life, works with the boys spring, summer and autumn. spends winter in the warm then asks Zach what he thinks about any decision and lets him deal with it. 🤘🤣👍
Believe me, that is an incredible sprayer, best in the market, saves a lot of money, billions and billions and that sprayer is going to make America Farming Great Again.
Your dad is the nicest guy! I want to hang out with him lol
The agitator bit was well played sir
I am very impressed with the crane machine
lol thought your dad said lets go to Starbucks and then go spray like he needed his latte before we get going
🤣 starbuck is the name of the town we farm near for about half of our land
I thought the same thing until I heard the rest of the conversation. Then realized it is a town name. Lol
@@MillennialFarmerall of our farms are named after the people who owned them before us.
Never get your name on a farm until you sell it!!
@MillennialFarmer Next you'll have to tell them Alex isn't a person. :-)
I am old enough to remember hoeing corn out of soybeans by hand with a corn hook in the early 1960s with my grandpa outside of st peter, mn in Oshawa township before sprayers he did it all by hand
It would be nice to have a more in depth overview of your spray tender truck, and how each tub is supplied and how it combines to go into the sprayer.
Also really looks good for your cement work around the bins, should be easy to drain and clean.
Over here in Ohio we have a lot of corn tasseling when I first saw it I couldn’t believe it
Glad to see Jim back
I worked for a local crop input company during the spring rush, usually mid April until the end of July following the sprayers with a tank truck and all the additives. The sprayer drivers I worked with would have killed to have the supply truck you have to premix. We thought we had it good when we were able to mostly stop using pails for the inputs and started using monitored pumps, but always had to use the inducer on the sprayer. A good day for one sprayer was 1000 acres when things went perfectly. I would think 1500 would be possible with your tender truck if the sprayer operator could stand it.
Seeing you without your shirt reminded me of my brother. He always worked without his. Got melanomas, went to his brain. Died young of brain cancer. Be careful, Zach, and get checked annually. He didn’t.
Yup use sunscreen everyone! The sun is a deadly laser!!
I sure do love that spray tender trailer. Would like to see a video on it sometime showing just what brand it is, how it's setup and how it works when you have time. Looks to be a easy and super efficient setup.
He did when he first got it.
It’s great to see an early 90s S10 still on the road
Last of the good ones. My 2000 S10 Blazer was 15 years of fixing and failures. Glad to see it go and switch brands.
Really enjoy your videos and your humor. I do have a request that you share the date the video was recorded.
Saw the first combine of the year in the field in the UK today! It was a Class Axion getting ready to cut a wheat field with a pair of dump trucks waiting to take the grain!
Your dad must really like coffee. Always hear him talkin about going to Starbuck....wondered how he was always so full of energy....
I was curious and looked into those Phiber Dash spray trailers. That’s one of the coolest pieces of equipment I’ve ever seen. They have a load of different configurations you can get. It’s extremely versatile. I’m no farmer, but you could totally adapt one and use it for forestry applications.
Zack, how big is the fresh water tank on the trailer? Appreciate the all the information you provide in your videos.
Yeah Zack, we can tell you been workin out. We got the tip.
Zach, places into close that doesn't get concrete. lay a double layer of black plastic and lay in A/C blocks in for a walkway. No mud to deal with ! A/C blocks come in plenty of sizes to fit any need ! EASY !
A/C blocks are?
I think the main reason he is doing concrete is for easier clean up.
A/C blocks are either concrete or composite. They are what outside A/C units sits on beside the house. I used concrete A/C blocks to put a sidewalk in because of big tree roots near a house. Framing landscaping timbers and pee gravel for a level base. This worked well for the 8 years we lived there. 20 years later, driving by the old house, sidewalk was still intact.
Zach's brand of humor is like the 955 gallons of water with just a few gallons of seriousness agitated in.
Thanks for sharing your farming, love me some blaring blue tooth on a trailer loaded with chemicals.
Thanks for another great video Zach and Dad and Becky for editing.
It was interesting and enjoyable to watch.
With your new sprayer and new spray trailer you can really cover a lot of ground.
Like your new spray trailer. It is really easy to operate and handles the chemicals really well and loads the sprayer quickly. Real nice setup you have there.
Thanks for showing us the layout for the new dryer and where concrete is going. When done should be a lot easier to clean up the area.
When your new dryer is setup and your area with more of a concrete base, will be a good area to maintain and clean up. Nice 👍.
About it I guess. Thanks for everything. You all take care and be safe.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Most amazing sprayer??
Big Brute: Hold my beer !! 🍺
since i got my blackstone 36 inch griddle 2+ years ago my intake on vegetables have gone up 80% chicken fried rice, stir fry's,frozen plain corn&peas, carrots with rice.etc etc list go's on and on and on.
When my father was a boy, he worked my grandfather’s farm in Idaho. Over the years growing up, he had several dogs (dogs and cats seem to come with farms). Seeing your puppy following the tractor out of the garage/barn, reminds me of a story my grandfather and father was fond of telling. Cookie (the dog) got run over by a tractor. It didn’t really injure him, but for a week he limped on his right front leg. Pathetic! After a week, he healed up, walked and ran as normal, but if you would ask that dog, “Are you hurt?” He would start limping again, but could not remember which of his four feet were injured, so would just make it up. The dog died a long time before I was born.
You guys are a picture of spraying efficiency. Looks like you’re getting a lot done
I love watching your channel, sir. I understand spraying has its time and place, but whatever happened to Good ole cultivation. Would be good to see more farmers going that route.
AMS and Diesel fuel. That would be a banging good time!! When I was spraying, there was a fill port on the front right with pump buttons. Really saved time not having to fold up to fill.
Did you ever find a 4 row corn planter that you wanted for your kids? I would maybe look into some other brands as well
Zach, I work at the CASE plant in Benson (I live now in Starbuck, used to live in Lowry.) And at CASE I build the Patriot sprayers, very similar to the JohnDeer one.
I like the idea of using drones, but how many would you have to get to cover the same acreage as your spray truck? How many drones could you buy and operate for the price of a truck? A comparison would be really interesting.
Man that toter set up is sweet!
We had 2 Deere sprayers. Switched to rogator. Love those sprayers. U should try one out zac
When I was 14, we holed Beanfield by hand dollar an hour 40 hours a week and I was one rich young man at the end of the week
I love how your dad said let’s go to Starbucks first, I’m not a coffee drinker but each to their own.
Imagine someone driving by seeing a shirtless man standing in a cornfield filming himself! Ha
Love the video. Have you ever thought of getting a spray trailer that you can load your sprayer on?
I don’t know how long you wait to post videos but here in middle of Indiana we’ve been tasseled since the 4 of July
Thunder is definitely a HIM - just look at his equipment! And yes, AG1 is good for my gut.
Imagine how agitated that chemical is going to be now when you play kamala’s cackle
Nice dig about the debate Zach🤣😂🤣you are not lying…only one that you can’t understand…take care🇺🇸
Always add electrical raceways everywhere you can before you pour concrete you may never need or use them but it's a lot cheaper to have conduit you may not need than to have to run it around the world if you ever do later
I ran a sprayer for two years and my boss installed a Y at the intake on the sprayer....and a hose that ran to the nose of the sprayer so I didn't have to fold and unfold with every load. I was wondering if that's an option on that sprayer. Ours was a John Deere also. Love the videos!
I’m dying for a bloopers video sone day! The jokes are superb and I’m sure there’s a lot of funny accidents or off the record detail missed😂
You should make a farm tour video
4:28 alot of talk about going to Starbuck, I 😊always knew farmers were that kind of coffee drinkers.
Starbuck, MN. It's an actual town near by.
I know, it's a joke.
Sorry this is late but Casa Grande AZ has a number cotton growers. I know you were down here racing last winter. they seem to do more than one crop a year not sure when a winter crop is harvested.
Do you have to mix your chemicals in a certain order so they don't clump together? Also you need to get a skid steer vac machine like the Larson's have to help clean up your bin site.
@MillennialFarmer I'm not going to eat any of your chems, but I like your channel anyway. Im a Finnish prepper, from Sweden at the moment. Love you.
@MillennialFarmer .. where is your test-field, without them chems?
@@Pekulte why would we have test fields with no chemical, those fields would be full of weeds and a bad crop, no farmer wants that
@@jackbannock3458 just for the test, then we see the benefits, simple as that.
@@Pekulte what "benefits" lmao
@@Pekulte there are no benefits, dirtier fields, less yield, dirty grain sample that gets docked at the elevator or wherever. No thanks.
Corn is up about 5 feet here in Southern Ontario Canada!
Awesome trailer setup. Great team work guys. I thought that actor said he was going to run to Starbucks, didn't know until now it's a town 😅
Love the videos!! Gotta find a way to use “deleo tooter” more in my conversations!! Such a cool phrase!!
Zack have you thought about putting a canopy on your spray trailer like Chet Larson has on his ?
Does that sprayer have a front fill? You wouldn’t have to fold up while re filling, I know it doesn’t sound like too big of a deal but trust me it’s a game changer.
you need a stihl back pack blower for them bees wings
For anyone wanting more content, just watch the videos while riding a indoor bicycle. I feel like I've watched an hour long video. It just kept going 😂
3:18 Homestead Farmers be like " Bro vegetables is all i eat " 😅😅
🤣🤣🤣🙌👊🙏💯 the blue tooth agitator 5000…. Kinda like
ThuuuuunDERRRRR😂😂😂😂
So much room for activities!!
What’s the deal with the sideways and small screen video clips? I can help you fix that. Anyway, good and entertaining content. Keep up the good work. 👍
Jeez the concrete for the bins is probably close to what you needed for the shed. lol
In the shop, what's the door right of the front door??
Shout out to the Drinkin" Bros!
You need to add a front fill to the sprayer. No need to drive to the same approach every time. It’s worth its weight in gold
When I was 14, we hold Beanfield by hand dollar an hour 40 hours a week and I was one rich young man at the end of the week
Is there any news on new OFF The Husk podcast episodes?
Noticed yesterday that our corn here in MI (at least SW MI) is already over 6' and beginning to tassle! Amazing the difference just a few hundred miles further South can make!
ps: Awesome that you highlighted the chemical trailer this ep! That thing is amazing! But not quite as amazing as the sprayer, of course. . . ;)
Was in that area over the 4th of July. Things look great there compared to my area (which is western Wisconsin.)
Here in Bama we’ll be picking in less than a month
how many litres/ha or galons/acre are you spraying? and what nozzle do you use?
Gee Zach, I can see FBN getting into the drone spraying thing and you will order online or through the APP what fields(your field maps will be in their database) need what chemical, and tomorrow the drones will arrive and spray your fields.🤑
I am looking forward to seeing the aerial view of the sprayer operations. 🙂
That's way into the future. The closer future is the sprayer being replaced by automated drones stationed at the farm.
That trailer makes it seems pretty easy.
Great demonstration! What's the top speed of this sprayer?
Most new ones will do 45mph in road gear, should have an empty tank though
The Rig looks great bro
In Minnesota they are called bees wings
I'd feel a lot more comfortable watching your dad connect to the sprayer if he were wearing a face shield. A guy who went to the church I used to go to, when he was 17 was making a connection on the sprayer and a little bit sprayed back and hit him in his eyes and it didn't totally blind him, but he is legally blind because of it. He can see shapes and knows people by their outline and the sound of their voice. Wearing a face shield would have avoided the whole thing
Zach how many weeks was this video taken? In Ohio we had Corn crop tassel at Fourth of July. Zach do you and Dad get any Blood testing to see if you getting chemicals in your Blood? I sprayed Lawns for a Company and Each end of the Season was Blood Check up! Peace Be with you and Family
We’ll be picking in a month here in the South. Up Zach’s way they’re way behind us here, but that is normal for that area
Will this dryer be easier to clean then the old one
Need a front fill connector on that sprayer. Wont have to fold up
Great video guys. thank you so much
Price transparency is useful to the farmer but more useful to FBN. They can find out what the competition's pricing is and mark their price down to get the sales and eventually drive the competition(especially local dealers) out of business.
They supply wholesale to co-ops as well it is the only reason they are still in business. They have laid off most of their workforce and can't keep a ceo for more than a few months at a time.
Greg from northern Michigan. At 14:31, was that Adam West in the Green and Yellow BatWing Mobile ☺ passing by you ? So much for being rural ... Love your channel and content. Long time viewer.
I must be the only one that love's all vegetables. 😮
Are u use red doble tip nozzles?
Did the larsons con u into a dryer like there's haha I love the projects and always a loyal fan ag1 that product is no joke I take it and wow
That sprayers a K'in Huge Drone!!!
Your dad went to Starbuck (Starbucks, lol) then suddenly came back to get spray chems and suddenly the sprayer was ready for liftoff at 7:20. Time to go spray The Moon!
Do you have county water or your own well? If you have a well, how deep and pump capacity? We were lucky, got county water just before we moved to a remodeled home that my Civil War great uncle had built. He had a dug well about 20 feet deep. No longer in use.
Mount a hand wash station on your trailer and sprayer. Just a water container with a valve with soap to wash your hands .
It had a fresh water hose already
It had a fresh water hose already
How much time would you have saved or lost if the drones you had on the other day were doing this???
Back in 55 or 56 was it, Farm Journal magazine published a study done by some AG University somewhere that too mice left unchecked in 4 months developed into something like 14,000, or was it 6 months?
Do any of the chemicals that you're using indicate on the lable that gloves or eye protection should be used?
Yes
:D i love it when your Dad is horizontal. :D Hey getting it done. Hope it is not too hot where you are. Stay safe. :D
