You need to understand the essence of the poem. It represents the author's point of view of seeing life and the conditions surrounding her. Plath's poetries reflect her own mental anguish, her troubled marriage, her unsolved conflicts with her surroundings and her own dark thoughts about herself. All of her problematic conditions surrounding her caused her to try committing suicides 3 times and write such poetries on the dark side of society. Sylvia plath hated how ladies were thought to be inferior to men at that time and all these also led to write feminist poems as well. But she had no one who could understand her and she felt that her life was painful and death is better. That is why "suicide" and "death" is a major theme on Plath's poem. Sylvia Plath's poems are negative but a piece of art which reflects the dark side of society and nature. So, Stop criticizing random authors just cuz u can't get the essence of their writings and can't understand the point of view of the author. It's ok if u don't like her writings. But don't make any such criticism towards anyone's works without knowing the value of them.. There are also other authors such as Emillie Bronte, Isabella Whiteney, Christina Rossettie, William Shakespeare, Charlotte Bronte etc. who wrote some awesome poetries too. You can go and read their writings if u don't like Plath's poetries. No Offence. But don't criticise an author without knowing the value and essence of her works.
