    I am a geologist working in a Government organization. Believe me I knew nothing about this. I have subscribed to your channel. You Indians are far better than us in Geology . From Pakistan

    Reminding me one of my first jobs. Well explained , just hoped you can show same from inside tunnel. It's less fun once confined.
    Thank you.👍

    Marking a scan line with spray paint for better understandstsnding and also divide the area either 10 mtr Or 5 mtr for Geotechnical mapping

    What is the need to take reading for all the joint sets? Just select the most vulnerable joint set and calculate. Here in the video the slope parallel is the vulnerable set.

    why are you considering only foliation joint spacing and neglecting joint spacing for joint 1 and Joint 2?

    • @DrMohitKumarPuniya
      @DrMohitKumarPuniya  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      not neglecting for J1 and J2, this was for demo. J1 and J2 have to collect like foliation

    Please do the same analysis of a core sample. I mean how to determine the inclination aperture roughness etc of a discontinuity in a core sample

  • @AaronArt1
    @AaronArt1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if I have stratification and two joints set. Do I have to obtain these parameters for each one of them? If the
    discontinuities are very varied, which values or rating should I use in the general RMR classification? The mean or the lowest value?.

    Sir, can you please tell how to define the joint orientation as favourable or unfavourable for calculating RMR using CMRI method....

    • @Demeke
      @Demeke 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, you can define the joint oreintation as favourable and unfavourable by considering into the oreintation of the proposed engineering structures ( l.e with the oreintation of slope, foundation, tunnels , road , dam axis etc). More over, if the strike& dip direction of the joint is parallel to the strike and dip direction respectively of roads, tunnels, dam axis or slopes, in this case those joints are considered as non favourable.

    sir, how can we distinguish stress orientation on rock in the field, could you please explain it?

    • @DrMohitKumarPuniya
      @DrMohitKumarPuniya  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sir, stress orientation can be determined by conjugate joint set on surface and for underground its depends on rock cover if rock cover is high then it will be vertical. And if we want calculate the paleostress then we have to look after the lineation. There is one more method that is generally usable by many workers as dip sirection of strata represent x- direction, thickness represent z- direction and strike of strata follow y principle stress direction.

    What are the materials in hard and soft filling sir????

    • @DrMohitKumarPuniya
      @DrMohitKumarPuniya  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sir, in soft filling generally get soil, clay, clayey soil, sandy soil, silty soil etc. And in hard filling get intrusion or different types of veins or seconday mineral crystallization as calcite, quartz etc.

    • @DrMohitKumarPuniya
      @DrMohitKumarPuniya  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sir, some time some people correlate the joint with trace of the joint but ultimately joint is joint plane with respect to this lecture.
