Yeah, aaron swartz wrote a python script and ran it on a server effectively downloading a lot of academic publications. But I think what the other guy was saying is that you cant run a script from the comfort of your own home and be able to completely fuck up a company, it doesnt work like that.

No offense, but if I saw someone acting like you, I would think you are some kind of lunatic, not a hacker. You should have just get there with a baseball cap and sunglasses on, avoid looking into camers, make no eye contact, be quiet, focus on your screen, type something from time to time, act nervous, and when someone starts looking at you, leave in hurry (but not run), maybe even get in a taxi waiting right outside. Someone else with a hidden camera would stay and film how personnel decides to deal with the situation.
Uh, perhaps for a bonus, if you can have some people disguised as regular customers there as well, I think it would be great if all their phones started ringing at the same time as you leave. They would act confused, and say that when they picked it up, they heard just some weird noise. Double bonus: get a number of that lady behind a desk, call her as well and play that noise, preferably the sound of dial-up internet:)

It's actually easy for a hacker to get into a bank and steal money. It's not being tracked and getting away with it that's the hard part.

The fact that people thought these two men were legitimate hackers is why REAL hackers get their job done so easily. The average person doesn't know what a hacker looks or behaves like. They don't know the signs to look out for. They think a hacker will walk into a building screaming "THANKS FOR THE PASSWORDS", lol. No, a hacker will walk up to you and smile and pretend to be naive. They'll ask certain questions that'll make you yield information to them you shouldn't be giving them without them confirming their identity first. Then they'll take all the information you supplied them, go back home, turn on their computer, and will have more data to work with when they begin to crack into your the business's back end. Once they're in, they literally don't even have to do anymore work. There are already tools out there for accomplishing tasks like opening a passworded .rar file instantly, or logging the keystrokes of all the employees since now you can send them all keyloggers because you have a list of email addresses you can send phishing emails to. And trust me, there is always a weak link. There is always one dumbass in a company who will be stupid enough to click on a random file from a random person, and hackers are patient and more than willing to wait for that one straggler like a lion hunting a herd of antelope.
