At the end of the day people are people and passion is what brings everybody together, being driven and having a crazy obsession to anything really kinda puts us all into the same pool. I realized this talking to one of my friends and listening to the way he would try to learn certain riffs on the guitar or different techniques. Awesome to see this door open up on the show though, really extends the future of the 9 club for sure.
This young man Beau Rich is an inspiring, well spoken dude. He mentioned that he just wanted to share some encouragement regarding his disease, and I believe that can be adapted into every facet of life. Also if there were bmx parks everywhere and no skate parks skaters would be all in the parks regardless. Some skaters like to think that we are better or something but if anything bmx is way more gnarly just naturally. I skate but I have love for bmx all day. The hate is childish.

Shout out for putting that Beau RIch guy on the show. Dude is a sick skater with an awesome personality. Hearing people like that makes you appreciate the life you have a lot more. Also I don't mean to get too political but shout out to Beau himself for mentioning the healthcare bill (Affordable Healthcare Act aka "Obamacare") with Republicans trying to repeal it and get rid of the preexisting conditions clause that's in the bill. It is SO important that the word gets out better on how the GOP tried to do something so cold hearted and downright sociopathic to America just to please their selfish billionaire campaign donors by trying to take health insurance away from millions of people. The ACA is far from perfect but it's also far better than the state our healthcare system was in before it passed. It's not good enough but it's better than what we had or what Republicans are offering-which is to go back to a healthcare system where you can't get insurance if you have a preexisting condition. Say what you want but the ACA has saved lives, including my mother's who is a Republican that hates the law herself. She only hates it because Republican's tell Republicans they should hate it but it's saved her life. Before the ACA, she couldn't afford insurance. Since it passed, she was able to get insurance and since she did, she's been going to the doctor more often and since she's been going to the doctor more often, they found out she had CANCER in the early stages. So early they easily got rid of it before it became life threatening. Now if she didn't have insurance, she wouldn't have went to the doctor to find out she had cancer until it had gotten to stage 3 and about to kill her. Same stories are across the country. People need health insurance. Especially older people like my mother and young people like Beau.

@The Nine Club, about maybe 11 years ago I read in this really old book that I rented from a library from I think it was from maybe the 1970's or 1980's that how BMX came to be is that kids wanted to ride dirtbikes or motocross, but they're parrent's weren't feeling comfortable putting they're kids on dirtbikes so they thought what if we made a bike that they could ride on race tracks like the dirt bikers or motocross riders would but without a motor that would be like motocross but on a bicycle and called it Bicycle Moto Cross or BMX for short. I'm pretty sure the first BMX Bikes were Schwinn Stingray's. And they started having races, and eventually BMX riders I think started to see what skateboarders were doing with tricks and on ramps and stuff and were thinking they'd like to try to see if they could tricks on a bike and after a little while they started having contests and demos and videos for BMX like they do with skateboarding, and guys like Mat "The Condor" Hoffman, Dennis McCoy, Dave Mirra, and others started really innovated the sport and X Games came around and It's been in @X Games ever since.
Dak is been and all time banger in clips and really awesome that someone like him can show up at this program make a bridge in this 2 gnarly sport. Im a bmxer and I have love and respect for all skaters Spread the love people 🤘🏼

Lol I came across The Nine Club one day, watched the 1st episode and in have been hooked every since. Your episode is one of the best ones I have seen. My brother got paralyzed back in 09 from racing supercross, he has a super positive outlook on life now. we travel around to different schools, and motocross events to let him share his story. People like you and him keep me going in life! We actually started a clothing line called #StreetMulishaClothing. It's a non profit organization and all proceeds go to all his medical bills, and to help others who have gotten hurt racing. If you wouldn't mind to rep our company I could send you some shirts and stickers. Keep up the good work and keep inspiring everyday Beau Rich!

Loved this. In the UK the same company distributed skate and bmx mags so whenever i went down to the shop i would pick up one of each until they went out of business, finally. Not had a new UK based skate or bmx mag in about 5 years, kinda bummed about about that still. I have always loved Bmx but never actually done it to a serious degree cos its super difficult, and risky as fuck. Nice to see Dakota on here and getting some of this basics explained. Good shit guys. Diversifying.
I don't think anyone covered the actual dropout design differences of BMX bikes of today versus the late 90's and mid 2000's. Dropout design(the area the peg connects to) has been modified such that the only thing touching the ledge nowadays is the peg of the bike and the smooth rounded hub guard(the hub guard is another addition that prevents ledge damage). Today's bmx bikes do WAY WAY less damage to concrete ledges and have a far far less chance of chunk'n or chipping them than the bikes of 10 years ago. The older bikes had huge dropouts, that hung below the peg and the dropout would slam the ledge and completely destroy them. Trust me. I've chunked my share of concrete ledges with 1997 S&M Dirtbike(this is a bmx bike). The complaint that bmx bikes destroyed ledges in the 90's and early 2000's was legit. Today however, not so much. The design of the frames is far better. Love ya Dak Roche. You get me pumped to ride! Also, check out BMX’er Denim Cox; this guy used to be a crazy ass good skater. He’s killing it on a bmx skate style just like Dak.
I saw footage for the Vans snowboarding video, they had "raw footage" edits of everyone's part on youtube, and it was gnarly. It's very cool to see the skateboarding's influence in snowboarding.
I understand both points but some skate parks are too small for a bike and it becomes a safety issue. Have a skateboard flying at you is one thing but a bike flying at you is a whole different beast.
