    A couple of additional suggestions - Have a magnetic dish to hold your small parts as you disassamble the resizer. Have a magnet handy to capture the detent ball when lifting the spring. It should help you keep from losing it. When reinstalling the ball, I use a very small dab of heavy grease to help hold the ball in place during reassembly.
    Note the speaker calls out the part numbers. These parts are the ones you are most likely to lose or damage, especially the detent ball and the small "E" clip. I went ahead and ordered a couple of extra to have on hand "just in case." They're cheap so there's no excuse not have a couple in your spare parts kit.
    MEC Tech: Is it possible you folks make a short video on the proper use of the 8486 shotshell go/no-go gauge? Y'all make great videos. Thanks for the help!

    He left out the step where you drop part 515D Index Ball, and spend 45 minutes on the floor of your basement with a flashlight looking for it.

    I’m back again after seven years. Time to replace it again. Which map would tell you all the tools that you need before you get started. I got all the way to the remove the Collett with the 13/16 box wrench and will be borrowing one of them. Also getting that steel ball out which they don’t show you how was a little tricky. I called them and they said use a magnet

      Hi Jim, thank you for watching our video and for reaching out. The index ball can be done a few ways with one of them being a magnet. Secondly, by carefully holding the carrier hold down and index ball once up enough that the index ball can be removed. There isn’t a general list, however, the tools are described in the manual on p.20 and 21. The magnet isn’t in the procedure because in customer service we found that not all the ways to make repairs easier/faster will work on every machine due to cleanliness. The tool kit that contains the spring retaining tool, closure wrench, anti-seize, and dental pick part number 8948 will help with the removal/cleaning of the collet. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you and have a great day!

    The spring fork sold in our maintenance kit. Machines do not come with this accessory item. If you do not have a spring fork guys use an allen wrench that fits in the column hole.

    I have 2 Mec 600 JR's the olderst is at least 45 years old. My Neighbor gave me a manual Primer feeder that works.. My newer 600 JR has a Primer feed that came with the new Reloaders I am guessing . It never worked very well so I gave up on it..
    At this point I am intesrted in a Progressive Press looks like the Grabber is the one I like..
    Just curious if there are any autmatic Primer feed upgrades.. The one that works I manuall charge a lever left to right each time I add a primer.. I am relativley happy wiht that set up ..

      Hi Mike, thank you for reaching out and for your continued interest in MEC and our products! The primer feeder system that we think would be best for you is the 385CA EZ Prime. This system works off of a spring and chain to deliver a new primer. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thanks again!

      @@mayvilleinc Thanks .. I do have one unit I bought a very long time ago and I stopped using it .. Seems it had many issues..
      My neighbor gave me a manual one for 12GA.. I was relaoding 20GA so I had another neighbor turn down the tube that goes into the shell casing from 12 GA diameter to 20 GA dia.. This Neighgor built a 1/3 scale case steam tractor from scratch .. He built his own Flint Lock Muzzle Loaders .. built steam engines a 1/6 scale case steam engine and he buit a 1/4 scale Caterpillar engine..

      @@mikeskidmore6754, thanks for all of the information! The single stage machines took a specific reprime punch for each gauge, however, by turning the outer diameter down it had changed to 20GA. The outer diameter helped self-center the shell over the primer seating assembly. If you use this tube on the 600 JR for 12ga there may be an issue with alignment, which could set off a primer prematurely. The replacement for this part is 28612 or a total replacement part number 285ca12. The Progressive machine that we believe you are looking for is the 8567N**(gauge). This will come with the large capacity primer feeder that eliminated the spring and chain style. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

    Thanks for the reply. Also, what if my primer station isn't fully seating the primer? I inherited my press and it's about 30 years old.

      Hello! Thank you for your question. We would recommend using a 5/16th x6 at least, to wedge into the hole of the collet. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

    Having trouble between stage 2 and three. As the indexer starts to move the shell from 2 to three. The shell trips in the hole and jams. Maybe the spring is worn out? Any thoughts?

    • @MECOutdoors
      @MECOutdoors 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the primer being seated all the way? You may need to lower the reprimer tube so the primer doesn't get hung up.

    Maintenance kit part number is 8948 call your local dealer or MEC (800) 797-4632. The maintenance kits are an accessory item and sold seperate from the press.

    This vid makes it look easy to lift that spring but it’s not. It’s a pain in the hands for sure!

    • @mayvilleinc
      @mayvilleinc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Steve, thank you for watching our video and for your feedback. Depending on the model, a two hands process should
      be needed to accomplish this task. Even more so if the machine is a Hydraulic or Automate due to the heavier spring that is used. Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything we can assist you with. Thanks again and have a great day!

    How do you tell how far to thread the closure into the nut?

    • @mayvilleinc
      @mayvilleinc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello and thank you for your question! We start with the closure nut turned all the way into the closure and then thread it upwards approx. 3 full turns to start with. From this point, you will need to check the shell brass to ensure that they have been resized enough to chamber properly. If the shell fits tight into the chamber then you will need to thread the closure nut higher. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!
