Thanks for taking the time to showcase this product and how to reset it. Every rider should wear one. it's no good lying in the hospital, regrettably not having one.
I got rear-ended by a mate while riding my Kawasaki Z1000SX and finished up completing a forward somersault in tuck position, landing flat on my back from about 70kph. The "turtle" design locked my helment into position to prevent whiplash. Wearing the Helite meant I walked away without any injuries. Awesome piece of kit. I never ride without it. (Oh, and after checking the jacket and installing a fresh gas bottle, it's good to go again.)
Cheers for this thorough review, after many months researching air vests and watching your review on the Turtle 2 I ordered one, great quality, very comfortable and didn't block air into my mesh jacket in the sun. Thanks
Love how this guy is riding in a vented jacket with 24 degrees. Perception of temperature differs so much depending where you live! Greetings from Valencia, where I closed my vents when the temperature was just 24 last week.
Nice one James I got to use mine in anger yesterday at Mallory after riding with one for 3 years. I dont have an airbag race suit but shoved it on over my 1 piece and its as close as I can get to an airbag race suit good few sessions on the track then. Next thing Off the bike bang bounce bounce bounce and all ok bit dizzy and a few WTF's. New canister and good to go again. 100% recommend these for any rider airbags work. We never choose when we are going to have a bad moment so best to consider it before it happens and make sure you wear it.
You should show the helmet not being able to move around too much also, it's very important else you can snap your neck. But love the video, you're showcasing the right product. No subscription, no battery, no electronics that could fail, cheap af to reuse. Cant beat it tbh
Fantastic review thank you for this video. Short, concise, and informative. I will be using your video when I try to convince my other motorcycle riding friends to get one of these vests. Thank you.
Really appreciate this and the earlier airbag videos. Also good on the gals for volunteering to do the inflation demo as well. My wife has one, as do I, and I think they are really brilliant. The tether is secure and not easily to accidentally activate, and it does not add any discomfort to any of my riding. Cheers from Canada.
I have the electronic version. It has been tested in anger and I walked away with only a sore shoulder. I had been known to leave it at home as its quite bulky and a bit naff looking. Not anymore, I will not ride without it. A new cylinder and the vest was good to go again. The bike...... not quite🙄
I bought mine in the Hi-Viz Yellow. Better to be seen, and not have the accident at all, is what I say.. But if I do get in a smash up, I think this vest will serve me will.
Hello, thanks for the comment. This is designed as an outer layer and first line of defence for you. Because of the amount it inflates it isn’t wise to wear this under your jacket
Would it be detrimental for the functionality of the vest (a k.a. less safe) if you wear a rucksack on top? I like the helite h-moov, but the vest seems to have you better covered (specially around the hips) Also, helite doesn't have an hi-vis h-moov.
Great video! I love that this is self-serviceable. However, do you think the jacket itself is reusable after a crash? If you crash and skid, would there likely be damage to the jacket that keeps it from filling again? It's difficult to tell if it is durable enough for multiple uses.
The jacket its designed for both impact and a raisin resistance - Soft neoprene collar for increased comfort around the neck. - Inner textile 3D mesh to provide maximum ventilation. - High-quality durable external fabric skid tested up to 150mph. - Shower proof.
Honestly - yes - hardly feel you are wearing it! Get in touch with Helite UK and ask the questions to check suitability I am XL size and use an LL Helite Jacket
*Shakes head... "That was concent" lol XD Looking to buy one of these myself, this is one of the only ones I've seen that has a good lower back/ coccyx protection. Would you be able to fold this and put it into a bag? - I commute so ideally i need to be able to put it in my rusack once im at my destination. Really enjoyed this video :)
@@MidlandsMotorbikers I actually ended up ordering the turtle 2. I suppose I can just hang it up with my jacket - I know the back protector prohibits folding. Thanks for your video definitely helped in the decision process :)
It offered so much better protection to the females shoulders than the two males who were broader. I think this is stopping me buying one and looking for a better alternative. Btw i was rear ended last week. Spent two days in hospital after my shoulder took all the impact. Klim armour in jacket was ok but should be thicker and cover a greater area
@@MidlandsMotorbikers thq ks for the reply. Yes I did see them. As much as they.might be better I'm not sure what they are like re ventilation, waterproofing etc. Plus my klim gear is only 2 months old and cost me 2k aust. So I'm a little hesitant to give up on the jacket so soon.
@@MidlandsMotorbikers so its a short-cut they didn't bother to do for any other part of the vest? Because either the armor is needed for the vest to work properly/more effectively or they are buying a $30-50 back protector and charging the consumer more for something they could optionally do themselves... because I supremely doubt they charge cost for the addition of it.
@@Shadow__133 my complaint isn't actually towards the inflatable part of the vest.. it's towards the included CE level 2 back protector.. feels like a way to offload some unsold stock while jacking up the price.
@@adam346 That is an ignorant statement. As said earlier, the back protector is so if your back impacts a rock, curb, guard rail, etc the force is spread over a large flat area. Without the back protector, the hard object could still damage your spine. The inflated bag would bend and conform around the hard object and could allow your spine to be injured. This is like a pillow between the hard back protector and your spine. More layers of protection for your spine.
I don't even own a motorcycle, but if I had one and used this vest there is a 100% chance I would eventually forget to detach it and trigger it. And it would 100% happen on a busy place 😂
Look dude the "breathable mesh" is a gimmick and pointless. There is zero airflow through it. The airbag is a plastic bag. No air is flowing through the bag.
Thanks for taking the time to showcase this product and how to reset it. Every rider should wear one. it's no good lying in the hospital, regrettably not having one.

Awesome! Was it an electronic or mechanical version?
Mechanical - less chance of a failure and cheaper @@ADyer-yx1yy

That is some massive back protector. Love Helite!
Crashed in one saved me big time good product had one since they first came out
The best video of this product I have seen (so far). Congrats.
Wow, thanks! Glad you liked it! (Please subscribe and share!)
I believe it’s 30 kg of force required to activate it, not 30 lbs.
Very true thank you
Another advantage is the ballooning around the neck and shoulders limits movement of the helmet and thereby reduces the severity of whiplash injuries.
Exactly :-)

Hi. thanks for the review. Is it possible to wear the vest under a jacket?

Hi Can I wear that helite vest over the Leatt 5.5 body protector?Would the vest have enough room to expand in the event it's deployed? Thanks Bud.

Hey what protective gear are you wearing under your vest? The green layer, I presume with shoulder and elbow pads?
It was a Knoxx Urbane Pro 2 top, AA rated with Armour and highly recommended
@@MidlandsMotorbikers and it looks good!!
Could you throw over a roomy waterproof jacket over the top? Is the only issue spacr for inflation and ensuring the cord is free from obstruction?
If you wanted to yes :-)
Where do you get/buy new canisters?
Direct from Helite UK website or we have some in stock here at ShinySideUp
@@MidlandsMotorbikers thank you.

6ft and roughly 16st - purchased the LL size
@Midlands Motorbikers Is it necessary to wear a back protector under the jacket with this west?

@@MidlandsMotorbikers what is your height and weight?
what is weird is they include a CE lvl 2 back protector in the vest... like... why?
That takes the initial impact and absorbs any sharp edges whilst the airbag dissipates the energy around the rider absorbing the rest

im getting one
Brilliant
Love to see tough bikers wear airbags :) .
Wish it wasn't black as it gets hot on sun.
It has amazing airflow so doesn’t get hot to be honest…. They do them in a variety of colours as well now
Can i wear this under a jacket?
Hi Chris, no, this is designed to be the “last layer” of protection, however they do also do a Helite airbag Jacket
Can you take it on an airplane?
I believe you may need to unscrew the canister before flight but I don’t see why not - best to contact the company directly to be sure
Just got one second hand for 300 bux

It offers no shoulder protection go with the tec system
We prefer these
