So it has a chance of teleporting closer and not forcing you to cross the entire map to just find out the Avatar just healed back to full health. That and the Avatar is the strongest known enemy of XCOM 2

On a related note, currently my ship has eight women at Colonel rank (I got a mod that modifies the AVATAR Project to not have passive point generation, so everything comes from alien facilities, it makes the game last much longer) and of the six remaining, one is a SPARK, and the rest are all shaken and male.

I play it on commander difficulty trying it with just four soldiers. First I played it for like half an hour and it wasn't going anywhere because he always controlls one soldier with mindtrick so he regenerates all you hurt. Then I loaded it and killed him on one shot (like second or third hit) with execution.:)
Wow. Moving a squadsight/non-snap-shot sniper to locate the target when someone else could have reacquired it for her... and then once the ridiculous dodge rating became evident, shooting at it instead of using a grenade or gremlin attack protocol. That was frikkin' painful to watch :-P

Have you tried flash banging one? Against other Psi enemies like the Codex and Sectoid, it will disable their ability to teleport, clone, mindcontrol, etc.
Splod I know. That's why I said just blow his cover so he wouldn't get hurt. A sniper rifle can do a lot more damage then a grenade throw, and I've had situations where they'll teleport within range of a sniper's squadsight anyway.
The Colonel He said snipers. Implying that he thinks the Avatar will sit there and take it like an average enemy. Not that what you're suggesting in't a viable strategy but you'd get one snipe before it teleports to cover. Demolition is best for this since it won't trigger the teleport and it'll save you a grenade.

Usually hard targets like sectopods, I just phase them out for a turn while my squad uses their multi target skills and mops the phased out hard target. I put bluescreen rounds on my grenadier since mecha enemies show only now and then until the endgame where every map has a fucking sectopod. Avatars I find bothersome but once you unleash a psionic lance, a minigun sweep, and a rapid fire to the face, i find it hard to see it stand back up and teleport
+黃宇豪 you get a countdown timer (30 days I think). If you let that timer run out you lose. 30 days is plenty of time to take out something. So you shouldn't worry too much.

I think (based on couple already watched X Com 2 vids) they seriously need to TUNE DOWN RNG madness in this game... I saw where squad members missed YELLOW 100% shoots or scoring hit with minimal damage because AI out of the blue conduct crazy dodge... Even hacking is ruled by absolutely insane RNG rolls because i saw once how computer indicated 93% chance for success when in reality he got 35% and outcome of this BS.. almost dooming entire mission... on a legendary level.
The best solution to the Avatar is to have all of your soldiers on overwatch covering the Codex before moving in. If you have plasma-tiered weapons and a full squad it is very likely for the Avatar to spawn directly into five waiting guns and drop like a rock.
Super bad team. Super bad play. You skulljacked the codex while the other ADVENT were still alive. It's always better to kill the enemies FIRST. When you got a soldier MC'd, you had no idea what to do. Why did the Avatar start with such low hp? Is this on easy difficulty? You also probably didn't play on Ironman, which is the only way to play this game. Your squad setup is atrocious. Is that 3 snipers? 1 Grenadier? 1 ranger, 2 support? It's just that you're super bad at the game.

I think (based on couple already watched X Com 2 vids) they seriously need to TUNE DOWN RNG madness in this game...
I saw where squad members missed YELLOW 100% shoots or scoring hit with minimal damage because AI out of the blue conduct crazy dodge...
Even hacking is ruled by absolutely insane RNG rolls because i saw once how computer indicated 93% chance for success when in reality he got 35% and outcome of this BS.. almost dooming entire mission... on a legendary level.

The best solution to the Avatar is to have all of your soldiers on overwatch covering the Codex before moving in. If you have plasma-tiered weapons and a full squad it is very likely for the Avatar to spawn directly into five waiting guns and drop like a rock.
your RNG is the worst man...
This video just proved how very forgiving is XCOM sometimes. You made so many mistakes that I was rooting for the Avatar

Why did the Avatar start with such low hp? Is this on easy difficulty? You also probably didn't play on Ironman, which is the only way to play this game.
Your squad setup is atrocious. Is that 3 snipers? 1 Grenadier? 1 ranger, 2 support?
It's just that you're super bad at the game.
+Kujakuseki01 You also, laughably, ended some soldiers' turns BEFORE you even hit the avatar with another soldier. He teleports, and may likely teleport within range of other soldiers.
You also need to learn to destroy cover. XCOM2 is all about destroying cover.
Maybe on the next run when it's not on easy difficulty.

With how buggy this game is right now, it's a fool's game to play Ironman. Grenades blow up where the aoe shows they won't, Snakes grabbing people through walls and floors...

If you encountered next to no bugs, then you play way to safe, currently this game is ultra unbalanced, dodge is bullshit, smoke isnt working, mimic is overpowered, enemies teleport erratically as movement, overwatches and Kill zones don't activate properly, Flashbangs actually buff critical hit chance on those who are hit and a large amount more, Plus this may be his first time playing this game.
