Such a tremendous loss for country music, one of the best voices ever & ever will be. In addition, a humble kind man, truly gifted in music. Also, the video probably the best, follows the song's words, like watching a movie. Bless his wife & children. RIP Daryle.
Daryle was one of the few that held his ground in country music and stayed true to his root. Truly one of the greats. He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Always made time for his fans rest in peace buddy your friend Georgia Boy.
Rest in Peace my great voiced country singer and friend !!! I valued your music and listened to your songs on a daily basis !!! Ridgeway, Va. , and Barry G. Martin loved you !!!!
Sad day for country music. Daryl grew up 30 miles from my home and in my opinion he had the best "country" voice of any of the stars of the 90's. He never got the credit he deserved. Watched him at a benefit concert back in the late 2000's with him and his brother. Their version of How Great Thou Art was the best i have ever heard. RIP brother!
Another great artist that left us way too soon in recent years. :( This was one of my favorite songs on the radio during my first year in middle school. It's hard to believe that it was only in the late 90's that a song this traditional could still get played on the radio. I miss these times!
One of the best voices in country music that never really got the fame he deserved for his talents. I dare modern day country to try and be half as authentic as this and have half the heart and soul this song does. RIP Daryle, no doubt serenading the country legends in that Grand Ole Opry in the sky.
Daryle singletary was the best traditional country music singer of our time he had amazing voice and he was what true country music is supposed to be like.....RIP he is truly missed
WOW, now that is true love, people nowadays don't have a clue about true love, I can't wit till i meet my true love and soul mate. Such a beautiful well written song. This song is up there with He stopped loving her today, what a blessing, thank you Daryle . R.I.P.
I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to see him in concert at Buck Owen's Crystal Palace where you are so close to them regardless of where ur at. Of course, I was at his feet! I have an awesome pic of he and I together. He was so awesome and very good to his fans.
I keep coming back to this song after many years because it hits home with me. I see the hurt in the old mans eyes and see myself today alone and living with the pain all these years later.
It's such a shame, we've lost another traditional singer who really was blessed with a voice for traditional country music, we've had so few. Never had the pleasure of getting to see & hear Daryle in person but have his albums. My thoughts & prayers are with his wife & children at this difficult time, & that they have many great memories to help them thru. This was one of his better songs in my opinion.
When i first saw the headline that a country singer had died at 46 i had to take a look, I was floored, r.i.p. Daryle and thank you for all your real country songs. May God comfort your family and friends.
I was so sad to hear of his passing. God I loved his voice!! I have to admit I had never heard this song before n I am crying the video was so heartbreaking!! Go rest high on that mountain Dear boy!! So sad for Ur family
May God Bless And Keep Him In His Grace. Daryle Singletary was a favorite singer of both mine and my mother (mom passed in Jan '18) because of his rich voice and his keeper of the torch style. He will be greatly missed.
I've always loved Daryl's version of this masterpiece since I first heard it in 1997. It deserves to be bracketed right next to The Tin Man,Kenny Chesney,1994,Who Needs Pictures,Brad Paisley,1999,The Truth Is Hard To Swallow,Curtis Day,1996,You Lie,Reba,1988. I'm in total shock and disbelief that he has died at age 46!! Just found out today!! So sad and heartbreaking!! 3-27-2018
The fact this song or his other hits didn't catapult him to the top of the charts is criminal. He sang with conviction unlike most singers today. I have just about every album of his on CD and will play them till I'm gone.
So glad I got to see him sing this. Amzing voice and talent gone way too soon. This is the strongest song I have ever had the privilege of listening to about unrequited love and how it destroys a man.
I remember meeting him on a radio tour when he was supporting this song. Now, I don't think it is a secret that some country acts "play" guitar...meaning they can maybe accompany themselves but that's about it. Singletary didn't do that. He brought along a guitar player because he didn't play. His voice was his instrument. And it was great.
One of the truest voices in country music ever!
Such a tremendous loss for country music, one of the best voices ever & ever will be. In addition, a humble kind man, truly gifted in music. Also, the video probably the best, follows the song's words, like watching a movie. Bless his wife & children. RIP Daryle.

I keep coming back to this song after many years because it hits home with me. I see the hurt in the old mans eyes and see myself today alone and living with the pain all these years later.
I can't believe he's gone! So young and so talented!!😭
This is what country music is supposed to sound like. 90s country still rocks 20 some years later!!!
