Looks like (like most level crossings) the alarm stops when all the barriers are down. In some ways a shame as enjoyed (when in the train) going over the level crossing and the noise of the Level Crossing going off.
in my state of Victoria, Australia, the warning bells keep ringing while boom barriers are in the lowered position. This is not universal in Australia, as Queensland for one follows more what UK does. The loco was slowly moving, but even so it seemed a long time until the barriers were raised to allow cars through. Amazing that these UK crossings appear to lack separate pedestrian crossings: we always have these in urban areas in my small population nation. One would not normally walk under boom barriers in heavily populated areas. This level crossing may well be the busiest of any on a UK preserved railway. Significant traffic volumes, and plenty of pedestrians.
The warning siren only continues in the UK at half barrier crossings and open crossings. They stop on full barrier crossings when the barriers go down as there is no point them continuing to sound when the road is completely blocked.
Llangollen Santa Special event has got the go ahead. Let's hope it's the same at your end. Minehead Station should be reopened for Foxy and Friends to use, as Santa Special trains will be full we hope.😂🙃🎄🎁
Finally !! It's all working now 😄 What did they do ? At the beginning only 2 boom gates came down but later I saw 4 !! Also why did that steam engine make that very odd ticking sound ?
All the controls from the signal box have been renewed and the extra gates added. As for the loco sounds it depends on what values were left open before they really applied power.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER ~ Thank you .... I'm still curious though .. why are there two pairs of boom gates now ? Is this a council requirement or government regulation .. ..? I'm hazarding a guess here I bet the old style gates get removed ... let me know could you ... I'm a big fan of your very interesting channel ... makes me homesick too lol 😆
The ticking sound is the vacuum pump or more accurately, air pump. In steam days the creation of a vacuum was necessary throughout passenger trains and also fitted goods trains in order to release the brakes.
@@davidirvine4294 oh I see... yes I have heard similar noises on some of our heritage engines here in Australia... That little railway into Minehead is a true little gem ... long may it continue running !! I'd love to see it running from Taunton in fact ... how good would that be hey 😀
Good to see this is done at long last. Missed my annual WSR visit this year.
It seemed to take a long time for what appeared to be a relatively simple job once started.
That is what most people think about the situation.

At last its done, missed the train action this year at Minehead.
Hopefully see passengers use minehead Station again its been a long wait I think admiral
That is very true!
brilliant
very good to see. thank you
Thanks Keith. May to October has been the steam running period for income in 2021 so far.

The WSR are still not going to run trains from Minehead until next Spring. I am sure they are losing income with that decision.
Looks a lot better now it’s been replaced
I did hear of a recent malfunction but so far so good!

@@janinapalmer8368 the old gates were to dangerous with cars swivelling around them the 2 gates will stop cars doing it.
Wait They Upgraded Minehead Crossing Now It Has 4 Barriers?
Yes. As you can see in the video from 3-00 onwards.
The crossing has been ruined now
Exactly wha I was thinking
I wouldn't say that. IMHO, I think it looks even better now.
