  • I purchased this board from Amazon. It has connections for various RF tests that can be done with your NanoVNA/TinySA. It also has open/short/load/thru standards for calibration. The board was not expensive, and my first look at it seems very interesting!

Odd video indeed. I have this board and it is clearly for use as a tutorial for using Smith Charts and making measurements using a VNA. My board came with instructions. The reverse side shows a Smith Chart with a few labeled points. The complex impedance for these labeled points is also listed on the back. The purpose of this is to allow for practice in reading points on a Smith Chart. The Open, Short, and Load items on the front of the board allow for proper calibration of the VNA. One must use the same cables for calibration and measurement. The ports can also help with familiarization with the Smith Chart. The circuits in the center row a circuits containing capacitors, inductors, and resistors in various combinations. These ports allow for practice in making VNA measurements. The other ports are filters, attenuators and resistive loads to practice other measurements on a VNA. The connectors are u.fl connectors. These small connectors are good to 6GHz. I have have GPS boards and antennas connected with these connectors. This board is for practice in using a VNA.

BSF = band stop filter which is like a big ole notch filter. Nice job with the video 👍

Thanks man. I could not figure BSF to save my life. I thought it looked like a straight up notch filter. THanks Ape!

Id be concerned about those connections wearing out

Exactly. I suspect there is a limited number of times before those things are trashed.

I've seen that board before, nice pickup! Now I can live through your awesomeness! BSF= Band Stop, the opposite of Band Pass. Those connectors look like the one in the X6100

Band Stop Filter. Duh. I have heard that term, I just could not place it. Yeah it looked like a notch, but BSF completely eluded me.
