Had my 2016 F350 88000 miles in for clock spring recall and dealer called to say I have a couple of Abs light appear on reg chec dx. Said I needed $125.00 dx check to see what was wrong. They called back to say dx check shows a bad sccm. Price for repair $1000.00 part itself is $600.00. Does this sound about right to repair? Concerned that I sent it in for tthe clock spring recall and now I need whole new sccm. I have not been expecting problems with any of my control buttons.
@MyMail2.0 so the clockspring is part of the SCCM. It comes as one assembly. You can get them seperate. I'm willing to bet he didn't do something right. And it really irritates me when techs do this. You go on for a recall and get it back not working and a bill for $1000. Not cool.
Power to the truck key on engine off. Then turn the key off. I never disable the safety restraint system. Reason being is younhave to disconnect the battery then remove the fuse. When you do that you lose communication to the laptop and it bricks the new module. I've never had one blow up on me.
@@BeardedFordTechI figured you had a reason and that makes perfect sense. Back in the OBD1 days I was taught to ALWAYS disconnect the battery and hold the key in the start position a few seconds before swapping them. That was before we had rolling computers we tow with!
@GuretoSefirosu yeah. If I'm doing just an airbag module itself. I will disconnect the battery and remove the fuse. This completely depowers the safety restraint system. Put the new one in. Reinstall fuse reconnect battery. Then it does a self check. Good to go. Most of the time honestly I won't do that. I haven't had one blow up on my taking it out or putting it in. I have had one blow up cause I threw it in the front seat. Static charge set it off.
Hello, I have a F-150 year 2022, in the scanner appear that I have problem with the STEERING EFFORT CONTROL MODULE (SECM), I don't know if it is the same that you change in your car, maybe you can help me, because I don´t have idea what part is have to change. Thank you for your help
@@BeardedFordTech I bought the car crashed and I moved the truck to another country, so it doesn’t have warranty. The code is the only one that the truck have.
Going to be rewlly hard for you to get the software if you aren't a fleet shop that deals with ford or a dealer. You can email me so I can get a part number. This software isn't a third party like aftermarket scan tools. It's dealer software
Was that a red bull flavoured vape smoke fade screen??😂😂 Not that you’ve done that before 👍👍.changing the airbag I mean. Love the channel keep it up.cheers
Nope. I don't do redbull anymore lol. I like monster rehab tea lemonade. That was just an effect on the editing software. Figured I'd throw something different in there. @@BeardedFordTechI see it has a ignition key, was wondering what the push button that’s in the spot of a push button ignition curious what that turns on
@kingranch8516 push button is located below the instrament panel ki d of on the dash knee bolster area. If it's a push button there would be nothing g where the key is in this one. Just a shifter.
I have a 2017 lariat F-150 and my controls are all haywire it slowly started messing up first the button started messing up like say the up button is ok the left button is the right Volume up changes the radio source and then all of a sudden my horn stopped working when the horn still works on the truck when you lock the doors you just can't honk it and then the steering wheel lights went out is this still the steering wheel module or a steering column module. I did a continuity test on the horn button airbag piece and it works so I know it's not that I can honk the horn locking the doors so I know the horn works scanner said something about steering wheel control module or BCM I know I'm not getting any power from the red plug that goes to the horn
Sounds like a bad control module. The horn goes through the clocks ping theough the steering column control module to the bcm I think is the order. Do your turn signals work?
@@BeardedFordTech Yes turn signals work I do get the wiper delay every once in awhile they like to turn on once in awhile but I'm wondering if I have two issues because of the controls and the horn but all the videos online talk about changing out that piece you changed if none of the buttons work My buttons work they're just out of order obviously and the horn don't work but when I look up steering control column module or whatever it shows a little box not the thing you changed
@MrYukon04 the buttons in the steering wheen are replaceable. The steering column control module comes as an assembly with the turn signal switch and the clock spring. Send me your vin and I'll get you a part number Monday.
@@BeardedFordTech That's what I'm getting at the buttons on the steering wheel aren't the problem they work they're just out of configuration which is controlled by the steering module but I looked up two different things The thing you changed which is the steering wheel control module and then you have a steering column control module which is a little box and then the BCM since I'm not getting power out of the red wire to the horn I think the steering column control module is bad. I'm going to read the codes again but if I could remember correctly it was saying it was not getting communication from one of the modules or the BCM cuz the clock spring works fine steering angle and everything is fine blinkers work washer fluid works wipers work but like I said I lost the lights on the buttons before that I lost the horn and before that the buttons got out of whack All that within a year and a half it's slowly depleted
