Sgt Maj Plumley is the kind of man I want to be right up there with my father.
He was that Uncle you admired but your whole family was scared of LOL
@@MatrixNative What are you a f**king weather man now? R.I.P. Sergeant Major.
You don't have to be Scared if he is your grandpa or uncle but calling him a grandpa he will whooped your ass
gayyyy
Unfortunately he would be cancelled and shunned for being intolerant, careless and disrespectful.
Woke people would never accept to take any lesson from a Hero like him... that's why we are doomed.
He was the walking definition of Badass.
fuck yeah.
He was the walking definition of stolen valor.
Sam Elliott was born for the role of Sgt Major Plumley !
Yes I agree I heard Clint Eastwood went out for the part as well but Sam Elliott beat him out which you know will leave Clint Eastwood with Gunny Highway. Sam Elliot killed it
Very good actor, who manages to get better as he gets older.
I am honored to say that Sam Elliott accepted my friend request on Facebook.
My father in-law served two tours in Vietnam and retired from the Airforce then worked for Lockheed for another 20 he loved the C130. He suffered from Alzheimer's at 76 and the person we hired to take care of him took him to see We Were Soldiers John got up in the middle of the movie and left weeping for the men he lost and what he remembered. I watch this movie and remember him and all that sacrificed so much for our country. God bless John Anthony Gromovsky Staff Seargent USAF and the soldiers like him that have fought for our great nation.
RIP.❤️🌹🇺🇸
Respectfully, we need some Sgt Major Plumley's today.
100% Real Talk, I feel you on that statement.
We sure do sonny.
Absolutely spot on brother
We got a bunch. Don't y'all worry.
@@MatrixNative so stand up
CSM Plumley and LTG Moore are legends. The kind you read in Military History classes that choke you up and make you pump up your chest. No matter what branch you serve. Thank you.
Both are remembered with great respect at Ft Campbell Ky and Ft. Bragg N.C. ......had great honor of meeting CSM more years ago than I care to remember and was impressed with how high ranking officers treated him even though they outranked him , actually heard a full bird Colonel admit he and many others who served in Vietnam with the CSM were afraid of him 😂😂
The green tabs on his epaulettes say so much about his prolific and profound level of service and achievement.
A truly remarkable man, 1 in a million.
Concur.
Proud to say I was a member of the U.S. Army Air Calvary. God Bless Our Troops
Biggs Army Airfield here...back in the day. Scouts Out.
"Later I would learn that Sergeant's Major are always right"
I believe that was the 11th commandment.
Absolutely
You don't get to be a Sergeant Major without being right!
3 brutal wars and he survived - beyond amazing. I'm proud to say that my father survived WWII and Korea and then my older brother survived Viet Nam. I say this with full acknowledgment and respect to the families that lost too many fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins and friends.
Acknowledged and Understood. I lost my Dad In the Nam. Cheers to you and your family.
Proud Traditions for sure.
_rltw_
Not only that, but four combat jumps in WWII and 1 in Korea. Odd were he would not have made it.
CSM Plumley was the leader we all wish we were fortunate enough to have.
Troopers Troop.
"Early one morning in the pouring rain,
First Sergeant said it was time for pain.
Grab your ruck and follow me,
It’s time to do some PT!
We jogged nine miles and we ran three,
The First Sergeants yelling “Follow me!”
We walked two miles and then ran eight!
Airborne PT sure is great!"
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
We were blessed enough to meet a vet of the 82nd who had 5 combat jumps who also served in all 3 conflicts. What a personality. We miss you, George.
That man was a true treasure. Rest in peace Brother
Rest Easy fer sure.
This guy fought in D-day,Operation market garden,Rhine,Korean war and the vietnam war.Was hoping he was still alive but he still lived a long life.He kind of reminds me of my neighbour. He made optics for the yugoslav military, and after our country(slovenia) gained independence he made textbooks for our military on how to make optics,i even have an old sherman tank scope from ww2.Congrats on the 8k
wow thats interesting, ya know if any of you're neighbors TM's or PDF? Thing is, old warriors never die, they jus fade away. Looking forward to catch'n up with CSM Plumley at Fiddlers Green, AI-EE-YAH, Scouts Out!

A true hero, he was a rugged, selfless warrior. Rest in peace, you are a giant of a man.
Truly a Great Person at the Right Times and the Right Places...So professional in all he was...The Best Damn Miitary Man to be with in such a Fight...God Bless Him!

As a older warrior the best line in this film! 0:28
There is a warrior! Be proud of your uniform and be proud of yourself. That is a Mans man.
If he was still alive today, he would straighten out those pansy ass soldiers of today in shape in no time. Much respect to CSM Plumley
easy man might offend one those cuppies out there. lol.
Agreed 100%, thanks for the comment!
Which branch did you serve in?
He got close to the Army, when he dropped change in the kettle. Those who did not serve always know what is better. 23 year Army retired 4 combat tours
Damn, I got all teary on this one.
CSM Plumbey was a unique NCO. May God bless him and give him the peace he did not find on earth.
I have soo much respect for this man. From Ireland with much respect.
I'll note that despite this unit now being the 7th Cavalry Regiment, Plumly still wears an 82nd airborne flash

To be revered and respected!!!!
CSM Plumley is related to my grandmother and was born and raised in Shady Spring Wv
My pops was air mobile. Both great men. Same Elliot was an excellent choice for the role as well.
Yea he was. I heard that they were gonna cast Gene hackman in the role. That would have been travesty. Thanks for the comment, and thanks to your Dad for the service.,_rltw_
The stetson is enough to scare the enemy. Sgt Maj Plumley wearing a stetson made the enemy wet themselves. Thank you for your service sir. God Speed.
That's why we stand for the flag.what A man. God bless you

A very small club indeed.

Thank you for your good and brave service sir ❤️🤍💙🙏😇
not a Sir, he's a Command Sergeant Major. He works for a living. lol (I get it though, much respect, hooahh)
Its the standing there with a damn 1911 in the middle of hell. Badass is a severe understatement for this true warrior
1911, the nightstand weapon.
I heard an interview with an officer that won the Medal of Honor an he talked about this movie and the Sgt Major.
He spoke of his Sgt Major pulling up his pant leg and showing the scars on his legs from the prison Chain Gang he had been on.
He went on and said, "Now they won't even let someone like him in the army."
Absolutely incredible. No words do it justice.
NO WORDS.
Out fracking standing!

God bless that man
Great video. Thanks for posting.
Thanks. Thanks for commenting.
"Custer was a pussy". One of the greatest movie lines ever.

SALUTE to these two American Heroes, LTG Moore and CSM Plumley !!! 👈🇺🇸🇺🇸 👏
I do believe I counted 10 hash marks on his sleeves, that means he was in for 40+ years. Thanks to Sgt Major Plumley for all his dedicated service. HAND SALUTE!
Exactly. He livedd to be 92 some shit. Lets Go Sgt.Major!!!!
@@MatrixNativehe deserved a long and peaceful life for that service❤️🇨🇦

Each hash mark is only 3 years
@@heywoodjablome7834 So, the Army is 3 years where the Navy is 4... interesting.
Men like him and puller won our war's
Wow. A man of men.
This is one of many reasons why I love this country.
fkn merica'
Today, we were talking about Sar Major Plumly at our Veterens Service Center. It was my first day of volunteering there. I was able to tell the others in the office that Sam Elliott went to my High School in Portland, Oregon and now lives in Eugene, Oregon.
My skin-can hardly breathe seeing this hero on a video.
Yep need more of him!!!
While humorous, especially to those who have served in the military, I feel they left out the clip that brought it all home.
When that sergeant and his fellow few survivors were rescued from that platoon that was gunned down, the sergeant is sitting drinking water from a canteen and the sergeant major comes up to him, puts his hand on his shoulder and says how's that beautiful day going for you sergeant?
There is a look exchange between the two of them that said, more than any line of script ever could.
He was telling that young man. Now you understand. Now you get it. I'm not just some angry grumpy old man, I have been shaped by my experiences in my service to my country. What you just went through I have been a hundred times over.
Personally, I think that one short scene was one of the greatest scenes in any war movie ever.
Yah man I can feel that. Thanks for the comment. Rltw
@@MatrixNative Haha...Ranger,eh? Only knew those letters because that's how Keni Thomas writes in every book he signs. Former squid myself.
ThankYou Sir....
How you know what kind goddamn day its going to be ,are you a fucking weather man now, classic
Man, those Stetsons are SO COOL. Gotta hand it to the Army on that one.
It's a cavalry thing. The cavalry is almost like a separate army within the army. I served in the army, and cavalry soldiers were looked on by the rest of us as " not wrapped to tight ", but not in a bad way.
They even mention some guy named " Gary Owen " for some reason.
Rest easy brave warrior
CSM Plumley is a legend! Oh the tales he could probably tell.
I had the honor of serving with another of those 300+ men who had two stars on the CIB. My First Sergeant in Germany in '79 and '80. I had no idea until I saw him in dress blues one day - the guy had more awards than most generals. Cut from the same type cloth as CSM Plumley.
His name?
@@johnschuh8616 Can't remember after all these years. BUT, he was a Black man who hit the tail end of WWII (underaged) in a "Negro Regiment". Can't be many folks like that. He came in near the end of my tour in that unit.
Outstanding.
what is outstanding I bet is your lawn! great name thanks for the comment
Impressive! God bless the warrior patriots! Semper Fi

I worked with a retired Sgt Major on a civie job. He had joined in 1938 and was told to retire in 68.
He too had been in Sicily, Europe, and Korea in combat. He went to Nam but, ran a fuel depot.
They made him retire when he told a Lt to go f___ himself.
True inspiration
holy holy mackeral never seen THAT many stripes on the cuff. wow wow.
American Badass. Much love and respect.
Beautiful mornin' Sergeant Major!
Hell yea!
What are you a god damn weatherman
@@davehyde6207 ikr!
Are you a fucking weatherman now
We need a movie on this fine soldier
Thank God our country had men like that. The true definition of a warrior.
Freedom is free because of Men and Wemon like this. We owe them a debt that can never be paid in full.
There were no women like this. Women aren’t built for war despite what Hollywood action will have you believe.
Served with plenty and very few were able to even get through a day stateside let alone in combat.
Sergeant Major Plumbly embodies the spirit of a poem from Lord Tennyson:
Though much is taken, much abides, and though we are not now that strength which in old days moved Earth and Heaven, That which we are, we are... One equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find...... And not to yield.........
deep man, I love it bro.
At least show enough respect to spell his name correctly.
Rip Sgt major

Major Plumley is like my Grandfathers Brother who is a Retired Scout Ranger Master Sergeant Here in the Philippines he is a strict and brute quite but deadly as hell he is a good when he is on a madface but he is scary when he goes smile on you and you know what is next scary but im the one who admired him so much he is the reason why im being here as a man with balls to handle it and be a man on your words until now he is still scary as hell when i watch we were soldiers and saw Command Sergeant Major Basil Plumley im looking on my grandfathers brother and he looks at me and said why are you looking on me then your looking on that Movie Character did i and that soldier has same personality answer me damn it and my comment is NONE.
Thanks for the engaging comment.
I would not fuck with my grandfather at all. To only imagine some the things he seen during his own combat tours...the killing was more personal back then (WWII) to me.
Thanks for the comment god bless the warriors.
@@MatrixNative true because old mans like Sergeant Major Plumley and my grandpa always kicking some ass on their own wars
Nice.....A True American!
Every generation of soldier needs a man like this within their unit. He is the exact type of man that makes our military so great.
So sad that this is the depth of inhumanity people extoll or you to achieve for themselves. Soldiering is one of the lowest if not the lowest endeavor one can commit their life to.

YES HE WAS. haters gonna hate. jealous mf'rs
It would be interesting to see his jump wings. The US army used to have a star for each combat jump.
*The Senior Parachutist badge (with a star above the canopy) is awarded to soldiers who complete additional requirements, including making 30 jumps (night, combat equipment, mass tactical, as jumpmaster), serving 24 months on jump status, and graduating from a Jumpmaster Course.
*The Master Parachutist badge (with a star surrounded by a laurel wreath above the canopy) requires 65 jumps (night, combat equipment, mass tactical, as jumpmaster), 36 months on jump status and graduation from a Jumpmaster course.
*Bronze-colored stars representing participation in combat jumps and a gold star for five combat jumps
Hope this helps. Knowledge is Power.
