I think it sounds better as the original since it’s just supposed to be a vent song for the artists to get all his feelings out. There’s also another version of This Is Home that Cavetown released a few years after, it’s called Home, and it’s to show his progress with his transition
EXACTLY! I 100% agree, this song touched my soul in a way no other song ever has and I think it's perfect just the way it is, everything about it is just amazing
Also I personally like the original song more than Home, don't get me wrong I like both, but something about him calling himself "he, his, him" and all that when he doesn't have his voice right yet just gives such a feeling of "no matter what I am free to be who I truly am", the lyrics at the end are all talking about feeling treated like a monster and like there's something wrong with him but still through all of that it's so reassuring and makes you feel okay to be who you are. I'm happy that both versions exist but Home can just never hit the same way This is Home does
@@SomeRandomPuzzlePiece definitely, the original song got me through so many feelings and made me realize that i wasn’t living as the person i wanted to be. This Is Home will always have a special place in my heart for helping me figure out a big part of my life
@@FlorianFer I'm glad it could help you, it helped me when I felt like I had absolutely nobody to talk to and it's always nice to see this song improve the lives of others as well :)
I feel this song is one that isn't meant to sound good and shouldn't be altered, the background music sounds like only 1 person is playing, and starts with just a ukulele and when it switches to piano it stops when words are being sung, it creates such a feeling of being alone, like the artist is the only one in the song, no producers, no other musicians, absolutely nobody, it's just Cavetown letting out all his thoughts that he's too afraid to say to anyone, it's so emotionally beautiful. I feel like it not sounding super good or professionally made actually improves it a lot.
I actually was wondering what the comments were so I searched it on TH-cam and found this video like 5 hours after it was posted lol Also I can play it on ukulele too, but I can't play it well :P
I think that the sped up one is more for cartoons and the slowed down version is just calming
Same! (also we both have Melanie pfps)
