I have a '99 4-door Blazer I bought when it was one year old in 2000. It now has just over 250k miles on the original engine. It doesn't use oil. I've had to do repairs over the years but it's still going strong. I did have to replace the spider fuel injector but that wasn't too hard to do. I had to replace the transmission about 15 years ago but its been fine ever since. My interior still looks really good. I have no intention of parting with it any time soon. I definitely like it better than the new Blazers Chevy started making a few years ago.

Grew up in one of these from 2002-15 eventually the head gasket blew and it had rod knock, still ran and drove because its a 4.3 but my dad eventually traded it in for a 2013 silverado.

Super cool video!! Just to add, the 02-09 Trailblazer and similar GMT-360 were Body on Frame. Also the competitor Ford Explorer 02-05 and following chassis are Body on Frame as well 👍👍.

I remember when my grandfather had a Chevy Blazer and it brings back memories from when I was a younger kid but the engine unfortunately stopped running right possibly due to water in the cylinders. If this didn't happen though, I bet he would probably still be driving it today.

Thse most common no start issue with the 4.3s are, rotor and distributor cap, ignition coil, ignition module, crank or cam sensor, fuel pump, or even anti theft module,(rare). If no power to fuel pump, check relays and fuses and or wiring, another thing g is the oil pressure senor runs on the same circuit as the fuel pump prime, most common is the wire harness plug that goes to ignition coil, (not coil wire), it looses a ground or connection causing a no spark, no start situation.

Mines got a knock at high idle like 3k rpm doesn’t eat coolant or anything and has the power in the world just needs fresh injectors and a intake reseal but I think it has a bad lifter or stuck one

I love this video. Totally relate to how we connect to vehicles in our past. I joined the Air Force in 96 (retired AF now) and went to Fairbanks, Alaska to my first base (Eielson AFB) in 97. The first car I bought there was a 1990 Dodge Daytona. It had the turbo charged 2.5L, and I got it with 33,000 miles on it. 5 speed. No one wanted that kind of car up there so I got a steal. I loved that thing! I would give anything to have hung onto it. I also really loved the 2000 Dodge Dakota 4 door that I had for years. 4x4 Sport with the 4.7L V-8. I wore that truck out....lol The truck I've done all my hauling with since I bought it in 2010 is a 2004 Ford Excursion 4x4 with the V-10. She's still going strong and can pull anything up to around 12,000 pounds. I'm keeping that vehicle forever. Thanks for the video!

Awesome! My buddy in high school had a dodge dakota, had the 5.2 in it. He didn’t take the best care of it, but that was a great little truck. That 5 speed 2.5 turbo sounds like a blast! And with low miles, that sounds like it was a great deal. Thanks for sharing your memories with us, and thanks for your service to our country.

Those trucks are full of design flaws that kill reliability. I had one once and it was the worst truck ive ever had. If you fix everything thats wrong, then it'll run great. Thats the same as any other lemon. If you like it and are willing to invest time and money to make it right, then good for you. Hope it serves you well and you enjoy it.

You’re definitely right, these have so many design flaws. Hopefully I’ve been able to address most of them for now. We’ll see haha. Fingers crossed!
