  • Confession time: when I have grilled vegetables next to a piece of meat on a plate, I go for the veggies first. Today I'm going to show you how I grill my favorite vegetables on the Weber Kettle, though these can be done on any grill.

    Made a meal many times off of grilled veggies and a large glass of sweet tea! Sometimes I just feel the need for a no meat meal, not often, but sometimes. I think it sort of a meal reset so I can appreciate a good piece of meat again! Lol

    I agree with your appreciation for the veg despite having all the options for meat at your disposal, it truly takes someone with access to all of it to still call out for the simplest elements when done right to stand out as truly excellent.

    Just made some last night, same as yours plus cherry tomatoes, yellow squash marinated in lawry's garlic herb marinade. Cut mine different too, and used a round stailess grill pan from nexgrill. Works good for cooking, note to self, don't leave on grill after to "cook off" what's left, makes cleaning a nightmare.

    I hate vegetables. Dont eat them, dont like them, dont serve them. That was until I recently watched a Chef named Lennox Hastie on Chefs Table BBQ. I was blown away by this guy. We usually go to a Japanese Grill for my sons birthday but because of the Covid Crap tonight I will be grilling vegetables for the first time with grilled tofu. Who would have thought. He has turned Vegan to each his own but I am looking forward to expanding my Vegetable Grilling Horizons. Thanks for the video.

    New to grilling. Does it make sense to use wood to flavor veggies on a grill? Thanks!

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends on the wood. Intense wood flavors, like mesquite or hickory, can work. I've used wood many times and it works well.

    So I gotta do a diet. Have you tried grilling vegetables with no oil or sauce? Am trying keep calories close to zero. Cause plan on eating vegetables and some fruits like Apple ect. In between meals to keep from being hungry.

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love grilled veggies with nothing on them. If you do want some flavor you can hit them with a good BBQ rub. Also searing fruit in a pan or on a griddle is awesome.

  • @alanmorris7669
    @alanmorris7669 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Here's an idea... it's something I've been doing for years. Slice some long pieces of pork fat and lay them on your grill. Now lay your vegetables on the top of the pork fat. The juices from the pork fat will drip down on the charcoals and give your vegetables a wonderful flavor. You can even use bacon.

    I spent most of my life thinking I hated brussel sprouts, until one day I had them grilled. Not just "acceptable", but they were genuinely delicious. I've grilled and oven roasted them many times since, just some olive oil, salt and pepper, and some balsamic vinegar, then cook them long enough the outer "leaves" are crispy. They're one of my favorite side dishes now.

      It should, especially if you have a direct grill feature like many pellet grills do now.
