This was an interesting exercise, but with a powerhouse bassist like Ale on a 5 string bass, and Dani's exceptional guitar tone, and THREE vocalists, they have all the sound they need.
@@raimundoarce7014 I was referring to the melodic parts of the band. They don't need more instruments. They also don't need another drummer, but the percussion wasn't the subject of this video.
This is actually a really good experiment! Just goes to show that an additional guitar actually has no value. A keyboard might be a better idea, but even that would probably just spoil things too. Good that you gave it a go though. No harm.
Although at times in the past, they have mentioned wishing they had an older, brother😊 and also if money allowed, they would hire another to take on parts they couldn't cover with the computer for more organic sound & fill.( Dany & Pau in various interviews. ) 🤔 me. 😂😂 💖🐺
Yeah, no, it doesnt work! And I don't understand why everybody seems to want another guitarist for this band. There are thousands of four or five piece bands with a drummer, a bassist, and two guitar players, go listen to them if you want a two guitar band.(alot of those 4 or 5 piece bands with two guitar players by the way sound like absolute dogshit.) These ladies are amazing and i love the fact that every song is made with attention to detail, love and care, and that is why they dont have bad songs or filler songs slapped together for the sake of needing a song for an album. Also the same thing for the people that keep complaining about the fact that there's not a guitar solo in every single fucking song. News flash not every rock song needs a fucking guitar solo, on that note Dany has talked about solos and that they dont need to be in every song and they place them where they need to be and make sense, if the song calls for one its in, if not, none is needed. I love the fact that its just the three of them because they make sure every instrument is important and its not all about one person shining more then the other, its all three of them cohesively together at the forefront.
Exactly! Dany's sound already is doubled a lot of time by the Kemper. A second guitarist would have to add another voice, not just more mud. And I just don't see how that would add to the sound and/or the intricate compositions the ladies are constantly delivering. If you have two guitarists you need to write for them. And none of their songs is written with a second guitar in mind.
Very true. Although they admit they do need a second guitar for Revenant. My only real gripe with The Warning is some of the stuff that is put on the backing tracks. I have never been a fan of any vocals (backing/harmony) being on backing tracks and that is something they do. Live versions aren't meant to be carbon copies of the studio version, so you don't need everything that was on the studio version.
@@wolfgangwalk337 No. No, no, no. Just no. She records 2 separate lead tracks and a 3rd track on the albums. You typed all that and are completely wrong.
Less = more. One of TW's greatest assets is their use of dynamics, drops and breaks. The constant drone of strumming is fatiguing to the ear. Just me take, it's art. To each his or her own.
I appreciate your experiment and applaud your skills, but I think their music is better in its original form. They've spend many years and applied their considerable talent toward crafting these songs with their 3-piece line up. I've always found that their songs sound better live than on their albums, so just the three of them works out just great! Thanks for the listen!
Although Shaun and 3DG guitarist are great guitarist, I didn't hear anything they really added to TW's sound other than the fact it was fun and novel. Just a second rhythm and a few bends. I'd like to hear a virtuoso guitarist add some complex stuff or Dany herself add some of her tasteful work in selected spots to see if it's really worthwhile. All in all, Dany herself could add some appropriate Gilmourish leads if we could only clone her....:)
Awesome overdubbed, but power trio is still their style! I found a bit too "crowded" the bass and guitar of the power trio (when well done, like they do) fill the gaps entirely, this is the definition of a good power trio indeed.
First of all: Nice job, very good guitar work! I recognize a few riffs from the album. Basically, it`s a good point: The Sisters (especially Dany) work really hard and together they do the job of 4 or 5 musicians in many song parts on stage and that is awesome. But because of the decision to make many songs sound like on the albums (like many other bands) and although they omit some second guitars (just like in the pre-corus of Dust to Dust) they have to resort to backing track very often. This hypothetical fourth musician would need a guitar and a keyboard/Piano, thinking about "survive" (the backing track piano) and several songs when there`s a second guitar as backing track. With a fourth musician, they wouldn`t need this amount of backing track in some songs. In my opinion, adding a fourth musician would be no shame: Sure, it would reduce this "WOW, three sisters are rocking on stage"-effect a bit, but the live music experience would be more intensive and real if they reduce the amount of backing track to a minimum (such as samples like the guy in Dust to Dust or the low-fi drums in Sharks). Just my opinion. I love them and their music, but I wouldn`t be disappointed if their musical journey leads to this direction some day.
They play live with a click track and backing tracks, controlled by Pau on that laptop you can see to her left. They do add other guitars, when they want them.
They are perfect as is. Simple as that. The sound they project with just three instruments goes well beyond Cream and is only comparable with Rush, a band with a totally different project and audience.
makes it sound really muddy. they lose the crispness. i know they have talked in interviews about being in a second guitar for certain songs perhaps in the future but really they don't need it at all
Once I taught myself to play bass and sing lead vocal that was it. Only needed a drummer and guitar player after that. These women have a huge sound. They're great vocalists and the bass player has that 'Alannah Myles rock goddess' vibe going. Would love a Black Velvet cover, but their songs are strong enough. They don't need anything except a team of good accountants.
Yeah I like this, the chord progression in between the transitional gap between D2D and Dull Knives fits perfectly, there are a couple of sections where I believe there's no need to double line the guitar riffs though, specially in Dull knives during verses I believe those parts can fit perfectly with one guitar either panned in between both channels or just left it at one side.
This sounds fantastic! I love the rhythm guitar on the background. I like it more each time I listen to this. They do have a cousin that plays in a regional Mexican band who made an appearance on the song Revenant. He just might join the band… but I don’t think so.
We’ve heard them with a second guitarist. There are videos. It was different, not better. And there are reasons, which are EXTREMELY important to the band and too long time fans, why there is only one guitarist in the band. The amusing thing about this video is that Dany plays dozens of guitar tracks in every song, not just two. We hear them every day with multiple guitar parts…. All played by Dany, just like Hendrix used to do. The only advantage would be freedom to play live without following their pre arranged tracks. That’s it. Every other guest guitarist with the band was creating something different musically with the group, which would never be the reason for them to get another guitarist live. I think people have zero idea how many power trios there have been and currently are in rock music history…. And why people love them… for example guitar dropping out leaving bass and drums is AWESOME…. Much more musically interesting and dynamic than the same old guitar part played all the way through.
They need to stay a trio, but I would like them to invite a female guitarist for a one time video or something like that. I think Nita Strauss would kick ass with them.
I am surprised at how easily fans are misconstruing a second guitar with another member of the band, Muse and other bands have additional session musicians on tour, without having to add them to the band, so there is no reason to be so defensive about it, plus the girls have said themselves that they are interested in the idea of having a session musician on tour, but just cannot afford one for now. Although I am not opposed to them adding a tour musician, for myself this video is kind of making me think they do not need one, as I can barely hear a difference with the original.
Good try, this is why no second guitar. You ruined Ale's bass on these one's (overpowered by your volume). You would have been better being quieter than dani..
Just HATE to inform you complainers 😆 ... when you listen to the recordings, there are AT LEAST 2 guitars simultaneously playing. He only added it to the live show (where there's a live guitar and a backing track second guitar most of the time, anyway). I know you're all "entitled" to an opinion, but so many of you sound ridiculous. You aren't hearing ANYTHING different than what's on the studio recording.
As a guitar player I appreciate the extra guitar. These people are over emotional about something you did for fun. Geez people...get a grip. i enjoy the Warning but the fans get a bit...over the top.
Sorry your experiment failed. That’s an insult to this trio that’s been doing just fine for 10 years. If you’re going to do a cover, then do it…but to add yourself to their sound…. As a 4th member nope. What was your intent anyway? Did you think the fans base would demand an additional member? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Honestly this sounds exactly like the original version… because she already played multiple parts on tracks in this live performance…. Not sure why you chose this as an example to try it out with. It just sounds exactly the same as usual with no benefit. If you played guitar on this then kudos for sounding exactly like dany… but it’s a strange choice of performance since there are like 4 guitars already in the outro.
