Hi, I have a question can I use the cards in the same way, let's say there is a v90 card in slot 1 and a type-a card in slot 2, I program the 1,2,3 wheel so that 24.60 Fps is written on v90 S-I and 120fps on typa-a in slot number 2? I don't have a typa-a card to check it yet...
Hey, thanks for the comment! Yes, when you have a V90 Card in slot one and are recording, then stop and switch over to S&Q or one of the codecs that need the type A card it will give you a warning as if it isn't going to work but will start recording to slot two if there is a Type A card in there. Hope that answered your question, Cheers!
That is strange, a couple of questions I have for you on this then. Are you copying to an external hard drive? Is each file huge? Do you have a fast computer? Those will all affect the transfer times. If you are using an external hard drive make sure it’s fast one for sure. They will list the read write times for them. Same goes for your computers hard drive. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
@@KarlWeinreich im copy cf type A to my internal pc drive and its is 22GB total file photo actually but to compare to my previous SD card which is UHS1 just a bit similiar
Thanks for the comment! I do see more artifacts in the xavs-s, but I have not tested this very strongly yet. I will say that it is nice that you can use 240FPS with the standard V90 SD Card though! Cheers!
Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately the A7SIII only takes the type A Cards and the Sandisk is a Type B. The Type B are just bigger and have more capacities available but won't fit. Cheers!
Yes hahaha that is a very true statement. I have been doing a lot of stuff in 8bit and using the standard codecs. Just because of storage. 80gb and 160gb don't give you that much time and it just takes up so much space on hard drives. Customer stuff is anywhere between 200-500 GB sometimes and that is hard on everything. But for those times you want the best you have it also.
Great points! Sounds like I need to do an update. Even more so now that we have new sizes and applications for this media type. Thanks for the comment, Cheers!
You absolutely can. I haven’t tried any others but I have seen where people have used the ProGrade cards with no issues at all! Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
You can just not the XAVC S-I 4K codec. This is the codec that takes the most data but is more uncompressed thus making editing easier on your computer and grading. You can still shoot 4K 120 in XAVC S and XAVC HS but it is a lower data rate and makes editing a nightmare because it’s H.265 and Super Compressed.
@@KarlWeinreich thanks for clarifying karl. So to clarify, the pro grade v90 cards can record in 4k60 in xavcs i mode and 4k120 but only in xavcs s mode?
the cost of these cards is outrageously overpriced! I cant stomach buying a 160gig card for 400 fucking bucks knowing I'll need 2 of them at least. Fuck sony! highway robbery right here!!
I hear ya man! They are expensive and I am sure you will see these drop in the coming years and some other companies making cheaper options. I was able to get a 512Gb Type B card for $600 which is still insane but your getting like 3 times the space and such. it is cool that they can write so fast for being so small and you can get all the features on all these new cameras. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
@@KarlWeinreich Its too bad the Type B cards dont work in the A7S3. I still make all my stuff in 1080p so I want that 240p! I haven't yet bought the A7S3. I'm going to be getting it in about a month. Hoping the cards drop in price, or they make a higher capacity one. Currently i'm filming with the canon 80d, but my videos are REALLY bad when the sun goes down, even with a filming light and an f/2.8 lens it still focus hunts. Anyway. Likely going with the 20mm f1.8, and a 24-105mm f4 for daytime use. I'm a survival/camping/bushcraft youtuber. I may swap the 20m for the 24m f1.4 but I haven't decided. I just want to be able to film by the light of a fire or candle or some natural light when i'm out and about =D Thanks for your videos and response.
I know, that would be so nice if they did even though they are also expensive! The 240fps is pretty awesome I must say, it looks so good really! You won't be disappointed when you do thats for sure this little camera packs so much in it! I watched some of your content and it's really good! the lighting doesn't really matter to me because you are telling a story and story is king! As long as I am able to make out what you are doing then your good in my eyes! we always want the new new when in reality the gear we have works just fine! You use the crap out of that 80d and maybe the answer is just buying faster lenses for the body you have now. I thank you for the comments and your videos also! Cheers!
Appreciate your thoughts on the cards! They are definitely an investment 👌
I appreciate your comment! 🙏

i just wondering karl i recently bought the cf type a and the card reader and copy to my PC i find that the copy is quite slow hmm

So maybe it is goood to buy v90 use it for some time than skip buying second one and just buy cfexpress and use other one as backup. Or vice versa?
Yeah, I mainly use the V90 cards. I have one Type A card that is just for 120 and 280 FPS. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
Are you seeing a big difference between 240 fps xavc-s and 240 fps xavc-si?

@@KarlWeinreich it would be great if you can do a direct comparison between the two.
hello , what is the difference with the sandisk type B then ? i read that w/r speed is 1500/800 mb , should be ok ? thanks !

@@KarlWeinreich ah ok right , and what about the Sony tough serie with capacity of 300 Mbps in w/r ? Cheers mate 🙌
Yeah, those work great! The only thing you can't do is the high frame rate, best codecs with those cards but everything else works great.
@@KarlWeinreich yeah the only solution will be making wallet cry and go for the cf express Sony 😂🤷♂️

V90 sd card can record xavc-s-i? Or only the cf express type a only?
Yes the V90 cards can record XAVC-I. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
Will these speed up the process time for Long Exposure NR pictures ?
Yes they will. Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
You missed the main reason to get cfx: limitless buffer.. in stills. And more flawless data transfer in vid.

or they could have allowed for usb-c recording to SSD and spent no money.

Q: Why you need Sony CF Express Type A Cards For Sony A7SIII?
A: Because it cannot accept the better faster Type B cards.
Thanks for the comment, yeah it only takes the type A cards and you can only use certain codecs and frame rates with the V90 cards.
@@KarlWeinreich Am sure you meant it only takes Type A cards. But yes, it limits the Sony's potential.
Yes my mistake.. I see now you were summarizing my video. Got it, should have read closer…
