The CR3 or CR8 sounded best to my ears - i.e. closer to a flat response which is what I want, with the CR3 more neutral; the CR8 more "punch" if you will, from either high end but especially low end. That being said, I am looking to replace an $800+ pair of active speakers with excellent flat- response sound. I spent several hours evaluating all sorts of studio monitors before selecting them, over 10 years ago. With international travel in the coming year, I can no longer manage to move about with a pair of 25+lbs (approx 10kg) each speaker. The desk top, wide screen monitor, speakers, guitar effects pedal boards ALL has to be sold. I'm looking for the best sounding (flat response) compact studio monitors. I have just begun my research, and really appreciate your informative overview/review, especially given that C-19 "restrictions" have limited any in-store testing. All the best to you and yours meneer. 🙏🏽
Just got my CR3. My first pair of studio monitor. And it just perfect. I choose CR3 because of my room condition is untreated room so CR3 is the best choice. CR5 or CR8, soon after I have a proper studio with proper acoustic treatment.
Just picked up Cr4 for mixing and mastering and to me these sound amazing bass is deep on these and highs are smooth and clear dont be fooled by the small size of monitor there is rich clean bass output if you want more then go for R5 or R8 ,and what its larger versions sound like I can imagine almost a speaker/sub unit price is good value too.The sound quality is good enough to use in hifi setup so considering a pair to use maybe the CR5 with Harman karden special edition cd player and digital amp.
Nice, sleek design from a reputable brand. Ideally, I'd opt for the 5 or 8 inch, but you can't go wrong with any. The 3 inch pair would make a great secondary set of reference monitors for helping to ensure the the bass guitar has enough mids to complete a balanced mix. Great review!
Hello. Forgot about any others I was choosing when discovered new "Green Lighting" 3" Mackie CR3-X model. Was targeted for 5" min and just change a mind on the fly. Tomorrow should be delivered, will make open box review. Recently got 32" monitor (LG 32UN880-B), so now will pair with Green speakers . P.S. Did pretty extensive research in TH-cam and could't found any information .
Can I also use the CR5 for gaming? I’m trying to find the balance between music production and gaming. Idk if I should pick the cr4 or cr5. (I want a speaker that really make me feel the sound)
I think I prefer the CR3's, it has more clarity on the mid and high frequency, that being said the presonus Eris e3.5 sounds better than the Mackie CR3.
CR3 is better than Eris 3.5. I almost bought the Eris 3.5 just now. Then they don't have the stock so I choose to buy the CR3. I just can't get enough and am really satisfied with CR3 tho.
Hi bro. Which one should I take for listening to music? You need big volume and big bass Mackie cr8 and mackie subwoofer,or a jbl partybox 310 or jbl bar 5.1 ? Thank for answer❤
If they didn't use cheap materials and poor quality control, this speaker would hands down be the best on the market. I've heard people have noticed a very annoying hiss over time. Some even had their pair break over a short period of time. Same with their sub. Mackie seems to have less issues with their more expensive products, but I could be wrong. Still, they need to handle this and improve their customer service, because its a joke right now.
I bought CR5-BT in 2021. The switch for selecting which speaker is left or right is already going kaput. I'd research this before buying one of these speakers as they have an issue with this switch. I don't know if the faulty switch has been upgraded from the faulty, cheap one as originally shipped or not.
I was thinking of the 8 inch for my livestream set up while I'm mixing, but 8inch is way to big, I guess 5inch will be it, I just hope they don't look too small on camera.
I'm interested in the CR5-XBT. My purpose is mostly for listening to music, sometimes for movie. Do I need the subwoofer, are the pairs enough for music? Also, what's the difference between CR5 and CR5-XBT ?
Hi, great video, I wanted to ask you a question because I was interested in buy one fo this speakers, but to use them with a Mackie Cr8s-xbt Subwoofer. In that scenario, which one would you recommend? Thank you
The Eris 5 is really good. I want a second, smaller pair so I'm going to get the E3.5 too but I kinda want to try a pair of Mackie's too for a different sound.
Depending on size, most good brands sell real monitors for under $300. I know the Mackies are bedroom speakers but decent priced studio monitors are everywhere these days.
don't buy mackie , bass heavy, muddy. Your ears get tired very quick, mush all togheter. I have to turn volume down all the time. Big regret here. using FIIO DAC 32 bit /192 (knowingli crisp and sharp, yet with this speaker sound is muddy) mid is missing and low is muddy high is weak
Good....nice studio monitor speakers.. best.. my dear sir.please sir give win.my carried can you help me.something give monitor speakers studio.give win..

fun fact: keshi used to own the cr4's, as you can see on his video (behind) like i need you.
i prefer the sound from cr3 it's seem more clear

I love the cr8 xbt, it sounds great ⚡
Thanks for the advice too
Much love🇬🇭

By the way, I love the song you use for sound test💕💕💕🔥
Thank you!
This video starts at 1 minute 29 seconds 1:29 you are welcome!
Why you don’t talk about the sound ?? Mediums, highs, precision, saturation, soundstage…
This video is useless for me…
Hi bro.
Which one should I take for listening to music?
You need big volume and big bass
Mackie cr8 and mackie subwoofer,or a jbl partybox 310 or jbl bar 5.1 ?
Thank for answer❤
I really needed this video 😩😩 been eyeing for a pair of mackies for awhile now to invest on for my home studio
I've watched a few vids about these and they always seem to sound rather oddly coloured, to my ear. I think I'd really need to hear them in person.

cR8 XBT SOUNDS GOOD 🥵🔥
It does 💪🏻

FYI - one shot of deoxit spray and they are working fine now.
Yeah, that switch is junk. I bypassed it for my friends set. Seems to be the only thing really bad about them.
During the sound test, was the BASS on full or medium?
I was thinking of the 8 inch for my livestream set up while I'm mixing, but 8inch is way to big, I guess 5inch will be it, I just hope they don't look too small on camera.
I have a 1280DBS building and planned to change this brand, do you think it was worth it?
Presonus eris 3.5 or mackie cr4 which one is best for home studio (room size 10/10) please suggest me.
Mackie crx4 or presonus eris e3.5??? which one is best for music production???

Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻

Hey edward, its ravi here...

Mackie or Yamaha...in low cost
Hi Ravi! Definelty go for Yamaha - amzn.to/3dlsELH
VERY GOOD VIDEO
5 inch could be the best investment if one can
I have the CR8-XBT one and im very satisfied😌 sounds good
Thanks for your advice Brother ... God bless you
Thank you too!
I'm interested in the CR5-XBT. My purpose is mostly for listening to music, sometimes for movie. Do I need the subwoofer, are the pairs enough for music? Also, what's the difference between CR5 and CR5-XBT ?
Cr 5x is without Bluetooth. BT in any model is Bluetooth
is more than enough for movies and music....... trust me.
For my little space I'm gonna go for the 3inch speaker monitor 😌
Great choice!!
Hi, great video, I wanted to ask you a question because I was interested in buy one fo this speakers, but to use them with a Mackie Cr8s-xbt Subwoofer. In that scenario, which one would you recommend? Thank you
If you can afford the 8” option, take them… otherwise go for the 5” option 💪🏻
If these sound like shite; it's Your own mix that's the problem. The 8s are superb..
Very nice video!!
Thanks for the visit!
Thanks for the great video! I am looking for speakers for my mini studio setup. I hope it will sound great for recording my guitar tracks 🙂
Awesome video as always
Thank you!! 🙏🏻
Great review 👏 👌
Excellent
Hi! Awesome vid! I am trying to decide between the Mackie cr5x and the presonus eris e4.5 which one do you think is better?
The Eris 5 is really good. I want a second, smaller pair so I'm going to get the E3.5 too but I kinda want to try a pair of Mackie's too for a different sound.
Iam between for cr4x or presonus 3.5 .. for mixing mastering and also playing guitar .. which one you prefer ? Or go for cr5x once and for all ?
cr5
CR5 is GOOD
need those input cables where do i find them
I love those monitors
Thank you.
Would anyone know how these presonus' perform as a soundbar alternative for watching TV?
Studio monitors under 300$ are most likely used for gaming 99% of the time, they should market them that way :P
That's a good point!

I have CR4 they sound good but cr5 is the best.
CR4 vs CR5 Bass sounds the same on my headphone listening to your sound test, is that so in real life?
Does the cord that goes from the 3.5 mm headphone jack of my laptop to the speaker come in the box?
Yes. And FYI that cable is called Aux Cable.
What type of currency does the website to order the speakers use, Canadian or US?
US dollar
What about the constant noise they produce? Did you hear it?
Nope
It is VERY annoying !!! They are only good maybe for main field ! Not nearfield the constant noise is way too loud, i returned mine…
It is not clear to me if between 3 or 4 there is a good difference in sound or not. I am looking for a speaker for a CD player.
Hello, there is a constant static noise from the speaker, very annoying when you use them in nearfield and even midfield
I suggest you Edifier r1700bt, s2000mkiii, klipsh the fives or Presonus e4.5 (a bit of hiss) or the Logitech z333 if you are on a very low budget
@@reset856 Thanks bro. I'm going to look into these models.
whats the difference between CR5-X and CR5-XBT?
X Means without Bluetooth. XBT means with Bluetooth
@@ganapathi.kamath oh, makes sense thank you.
go get the Eris 4.5 instead Mackie speakers sounds muddy on bass wouldn't recommend for production
