I'm not sure exactly but in my mind several of the the 1950s Martin D-28s have been quite loud. I had a 1950 and a 1955 and both had that extremely forceful penetrating sound. I mean really loud and in your face!!!
thanks for the prompt reply. The McPhersons have always been my dream guitars but I’ve always wondered how they would stand in a loud bluegrass setting. In your opinion how do the McPhersons compare volume wise with the 1950 Martins.
@@theguitarschoolproject3785 The 5.0XP models are pretty loud, its tough to tell for sure because the sound goes more in your face with a McPherson and the Martins project out more. The sustain on the McPherson makes it tough for fast open runs associated with Bluegrass music.

I use BlueChip Picks TAD-3R 60 Rounded bevels is my preferred that I've been using for the last 2 or 3 years now and this one had John Pierce PB mediums on it. The International HD I did had D'Addario EJ17s on it.
