I was impressed by the civility this dialogue. More Americans need to discuss politics like this.

We don't discuss politics anymore. We tend to scream at each other and try to get someone fired/lose their earning power if they think differently. You don't see debate or discourse largely because both sides think it is pointless given the fact that no matter how logical you make your political point, you will not convince the other guy to change his mind about anything.

I think it is important for Bill to continue to have diverse people on his show--like the Breitbart editor--and to ask the hard questions, to hear them out and to ask followup questions. I agree that we liberals, Democrats, etc. need to continue to assess what is both truthful and effective (we should be both).
Independent and Trump supporter here, I often disagree with Maher but I always respect him for bringing on people who think differently than he does.

I didn't agree with all of what this guy had to say, but these comments are super quick to judge because of his Breitbart association. He was very articulate and open-minded above all. Much more than I can say about some of the other right-leaning guests he has had on his show.

There was COLLUSION and there continues to be. Mueller CLEARLY outlined that there was not enough evidence to charge trump with CONSPIRACY (which is the actual crime) but there is without a doubt an extraordinary amount of evidence supporting collusion between trump and russia.

Yes It's always good to hear and read other side of one story, I checked Breitbart also (Haven't done that before) and read the articles about Iran deal (I follow the stories closely) . The guy said they have influential Journalist and there are true stories but when I read more or I checked their sources it went on an Israel news website. So As you can Imagine it's pretty one sided and very critical of anyone related to Obama administration.
On the plus side, now I understand why people in the comment sections hate Former President Obama this much.

This interview hasn't aged well. Maher: "you're not covering Russia"
I noticed that too. If we fast forward to June of 2020 Breitbart reported what the Trump administration (advised by their medical experts) told the world which is the lab leak in Wuhan is as strong a possibility as the bat to human theory. Eco Alliance (Peter Dasak) told the press that the lab leak theory has zero credibility so now fast forward to today and the press is now reporting the lab leak is the more credible theory. If we don't have Breitbart and other right leaning reporting then how the hell are we going to be able to consider both sides? The Chi-Coms killed 4.5 million people and counting but the left wing press doesn't want to hold China accountable.
I love that he has his polar opposites on. It never disintegrates into shouting matches. It's a sure sign of a really strong host.

I believe it is to show their flaws in a setting where you don't get confused. This guest, for instance, has a lot of progressive things to say, and is far left of the Breitbart base, albeit he is still on the right. But no matter what he says that we agree with, there are basic things that we have to be reminded make this man/organization ridiculous. If I had heard this man speak, on the things I agree with him, in such an eloquent manner, I could have questioned the (non)integrity of Breitbart based on his sell. But with Maher's help....I don't get pulled in. It's populist resistance. Something the mainstream media failed to do with Trump. IMO, of course.

I fucking hate Breitbart and their agenda, but I have to hand it to this guy, he presents himself better than most of the republicans put on this show. He doesn't completely dismiss the 17 intelligence agencies, he doesn't try to bullshit out "FAKE NEWS", he was respectful to Bill during the interview, and doesn't just avoid the questions with the thought that it might hurt the feelings of "our dearest leader"(its a harsh reality when the president is as delicate as a fucking flower). It's not hard to do, but compared to the Boris interview, this one actually stated the opinion of both interviewers and not just party interests. To come onto a show where he knows he's not well liked and stated what he believes and not the beliefs of an administration that's at war with information and logic, I gotta give him credit.

I was finding Maher less obnoxious in this interview up until he essentially accused Breitbart for being responsible for the violence we currently see in our society, when his own show is a weekly hatefest on Trump and his supporters. I wish Marlow would have pushed back with this observation and expressed how offensive that false accusation was. It was at this point that I remembered that Bill Maher is actually not very smart. He's incredibly clever, but not at all intelligent or wise.
He didn't do it because it wouldn't have made a difference.

I have a lot of respect for this Alex even though I'm not a right wing conservative. Very intelligent man that is well spoken for. Seems like a legit Editor of an organization. Glad he decided to debate Bill. I have respect for that. See!!! We can all get along!
This is what you call partisan journalism that still remains ethical. They lean right without tipping over. Its a shame when that is amongst the best examples we have. Bill could learn a lesson from him.
