The "Ill buy a dog" line at the end of the movie is a reference to what Bruce Willis said at the beginning. He told his wife that if she cheats because she is lacking the emotional support she should get a dog instead.
I'm in my 30s and I watched this for the first time a few years ago. It's wild! It's WAY better than I would have ever thought. So many explosions, one liners, fun violent surprises and Bruce Willis... It's in my top 90s movies.
According to IMDb trivia, in the original script the bad guy with the weird haircut was going to be a maker of snuff films, and Joe's wife would eventually kill him with a chainsaw. Yeah lol the original script was a lot darker, but Willis and others made a ton of changes to it when they were brought onboard.
I love this movie myself, one of the lines that stuck with me "it's one of those cheap plastic keys, the kind that shred" that set up works for me. Also sincerely i just wanted to say thanks for the awesome work for charity you do in December, you're a wonderful human being, keep up the good work :)
@@turtle4614 It was a moderate success, not the blockbuster teh studios expected it to be. It made about the same gross as Curly Sue and King Ralph that year. it was kind of overshadowed and didnt have the same cultural impact as some of the other films around that time: Terminator 2, JFK, Boyz N The Hood, City Slickers, Thelma & Louise, My Cousin Vinny, Basic Instinct, White Men Can't Jump. It's a fun movie on it's own, but the theaters were releasing some instant classics at that time and The Last Boy Scout just wasn't talked about and forgotten in middle school. It's in that category below of really good, rewatchable. but not classics of that time like Backdraft, New Jack City. It is very similar to a so bad its good movie from that summer, Point Break.1991 had some bangers.
A few tweaks here and there this easily could have been included in the Die Hard series, along with several others. they did go a bit overboard on making his daughter annoying AF. But I for one would like to see a whole movie about a future world where football players can kill each other on the field.
Great movie! But I always wondered why Joe didn't notice Mike's car parked out on the street...other than finding the toilet seat up and the steamy bathroom, didn't he know his friend was parked at his house??? And he's a detective!
I actually got to see this in theaters when I was 8 years old. The opening football game shocked me in the beginning. I think the only reason I was able to get in and watch this movie is because it was a Bruce Willis.
I would love to see this movie remade with The Rock and Johnny Manziel. The Rock as Bruce Willis' character and Johnny Manziel as Damon Wayans's character.
1. Loved this movie. Too bad they couldn't have made a follow-up. It's because the production of this was so chaotic. In a New Yorker profile, Joel Silver said that the making of this film was "one of the three worst experiences of his life." Tony Scott also spoke about how miserable production was, largely because Silver and Bruce Willis took over the production, altered parts of Shane Black's script, and made him shoot scenes he hated under threat of being fired and having to forfeit his salary. 2. Mike/Bruce McGill 44 years and pounds ago played "D-Day" in "Animal House" 3. Darian/Danielle Harris played in "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" and you should see her now. OUCH😍💕 4. Aside from the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" this has the best bad guy goes down death with the helicopter stunt. 5. Missing you Bruce.😰
I remember being excited to watch this because I was a Boy Scout, and despite this being the TV edit, my mom saying "nope" right after the suicide scene. 😬😅
Since I'm already a subscriber I subscribe with my mother's phone on her account, I think what you are doing is extremely awesome. And I support you like a bra.
7:45 what if it had been his daughter leaving, and not Joe? The goons outside who shocked him in the chest, would've cattle proded her right in the face lol
Whenever I see a woman wearing to much make-up I think of this movie. "Jesus Christ, you let her wear enough make-up, she looks like a racoon. I almost shot her last night, I thought she was a burglar."
This is the ACTUAL best Die Hard sequel. Shouldn’t have expected any less from the guy that made Top Gun film a script by the guy that wrote Lethal Weapon and directed The Nice Guys.
Shane Black is a bit of a one trick pony though. It's just a really good trick. Nice guys could be a sequel to this. Or prequel cause it does take place in the 70's
9:48 wait.. why does he all of a sudden have a wicked gash on his face? What the hell happened that wasn't worth reporting or making fun of? Clearly, it wasn't there just moments prior, so what the hell, man? What happened?
OK no actually what she said was I’ll buy a dog because she told Joe that because he’s been gone all the time for work that she gets lonely so he told her by a dog in response to her cheating so this was her apology and because they’re cynical and sarcastic and actually kind of a cute couple she understood the assignment at the time was to make a quick, and then I did get a dog 😂
I saw that show once....the one guy says you're mammas house is so small we had to eat a large pizza outside....i never watched it again wow that was fuckin dumb
So we're just skipping the whole shot people while he ran the football down the field. Lol even if he managed to score, you're still going to have to answer for two or three wounded players on the other team. How blind are these refs? Jeez

Yep , was just going to say the same thing 🤘
"I'll buy you a dog."
A bomb proof one? No? No deal.
Know your worth King 👑

I'm 34 and somehow I've never watched this movie, I need to find it
@@jwr2904 I have my copy off of VUDU. I couldn't find a blue ray anywhere. I think Amazon has a DVD version.
I swear to this day i still think that Halle Berry in this movie is the sexiest anyone has ever been.

I was a kid when they had ashtrays down every other isle in grocery stores.

Also sincerely i just wanted to say thanks for the awesome work for charity you do in December, you're a wonderful human being, keep up the good work :)
Thank you so much :) I'm really glad you are enjoying the videos
Gotta love Bruce McGill. He's always good. Especially in MacGyver.
And Rizzoli and Isles.
Ah! Watching this movie for the first time back in high school was a magical experience. 😊
So many great one-liners in this. Wish we could have gotten a sequel
I wanted them to face Satan Clause
I sometimes wish you announced which video was coming next so i could watch it before your review drops...
But I also love the surprise... lol
That's not a bad idea :) maybe starting 2024 I can do something like that
It's good to know those dogs were bomb proof. That's always bugged me about this flick.
Damn... I honestly totally forgot about this movie existing entirely. Bananas
How does one forget about Blockbusters such as this one?!?!
@@turtle4614 right... and I love it too

You, Sir, are doing good things. Your donations and revival of classics *chef's kiss*
That's very nice of you to devote these videos to fighting dementia :)
@@bloodrunsclear I'm just happy we can raise some money for a good cause :)
Watched it yesterday for the first time and it was a blast. Glad you did a review on it.
Oh man, I LOVE this movie, so great to see it highlighted!
Every time I see one of your videos pop up, I'm absolutely sure I will have a great watch!
The streak continues
I have a few good jokes about unemployed bomb sniffing dogs... But none of them work
Glad you hit this one up. It's up there with his masterpiece, HUDSON HAWK
I enjoyed this movie. Outside of the Die Hard flicks, one of Bruce's most entertaining roles.

My late mothers' favourite movie!
2:05 Billy "Tae Bo" Blanks.
👍
one of my favorite bruce movies ...
Little did this movie know, how huge Halle Berry would become, and later on she would reunite with Bruce in 2007 flick Perfect Stranger.
One of my all-time favorites. I saw in in the theater.
Taylor Negron is excellent as Milo in this film.
Goon is one of my favorite movies and I appreciate the reference
Great movie!

I forgot Billy Blanks was in that movie. Great flick. Are you going to do last man standing?
i remember that bad guy with the bad haircut played the chef for the olsen twins in one of their teenage sitcoms
Love your reviews
I loved this movie.
Keep up the good fight John McClane ( Bruce Willis )
Why do I get the feeling Danielle Harris was just being herself in this role. 😆
I would love to see this movie remade with The Rock and Johnny Manziel. The Rock as Bruce Willis' character and Johnny Manziel as Damon Wayans's character.
One of my favorite movies.
It’s filled with unlikeable characters.
It’s also very raw.
The original screenplay involved snuff films.

Forgot how much the two leads got captured in this. Really stands out when the movie is played in summary lol
Oh I have this on VHS. For the you gins that's a way we used to watch movies. Lol
VHS was at blockbuster until 2004
human banana? I thought you were talkin about the lady since she had a yellow cardigan 😅

Milo was a savage.

I tell myself the same thing Joe does every day lol
More Bruce Willis?
fun fact: Football players are actually searched for weapons and contrabans before every game.
Fun fact:no they arent
“Head or gut”
Whenever I see a woman wearing to much make-up I think of this movie. "Jesus Christ, you let her wear enough make-up, she looks like a racoon. I almost shot her last night, I thought she was a burglar."
