Roger Steffens, such a humble man, set divinely in the correct spot to gather great and mighty information for people like myself in the younger generation to feel like we’ve lived through the birth and the everlasting life of reggae music. Forever great full for this man and may jah have our paths collide one day. ❤️💛💚
Bredrin Roger Steffens adi biographer fi di reggae. Especially the roots reggae. He happens to be the source of so much reggae data which is rich. I have watched many documentaries and the man just a pop. Respek!!!
Had a great time listening in 🔊 Conversation and with great pleasure Meeting Up with great brother Mr Roger Steffens at the Event. Greatly Captured and Filmed 📽🎬 📸 by good brother Yoni Gal and the team. Bless Up 👍
I'm guessing it might have been Tony Moses, Brother T, whose programs on KPFA or KPOO introduced RS to reggae in Berkeley. He did it for me, and thanks T. And thanks LKJ!
I found Linton quite rude at times. Saying l don't know about the mysticism, when Rodger called the man wire, Linton jumped in to call this man by his full name , l have heard the Wailers refer to this man as just wire. When Rodger said Gabon Linton corrected Rodger as well. Either something was with Linton doing this interview or he is just plain rude.
Steffens walks out with LKJ and leaves him sitting there for 7 minutes like a dummy before even introducing him. Steffens blabs more about himself than anything else. He disrespectfully asks LKJ if he understands patios? He says LKJ sounds like his wife? Total garbage.
I found the moderator to be objectionable. More interested in flexing his intellectual muscles rather than dealing with the subject matter, which was "On Bob Marley". His passive aggressive barbs and myriad intentional attempts at shaming Roger Steffens is indicative of the Caribbean male strutting peacock routine. Get over yourself! "Soon we'll find out who is the real revolutionary 'Cause I don't want my people to be contrary" ― Zimbabwe Incidentally, Zimbabwe was co-authored by Bob Marley.
Has it been verified that Bob Marley actually wrote all of the music and lyrics that are accredited to him? Could it be that the Tavistock Institute did the work? Was Bob the creation of the music industry in the same manner as the Beatles?
Sangie Davis- is the Unseen Maestro by Writting Songs for Bob such as- "WakeUp & Live" both Bob/Sangie wrote the Song! Jingling Keys/etc etc the list goes on!
Quit with that B.S. The Beatles and Bob Marley were God-given gifts to mankind. They wrote their own music, no help from Tavistock thank you. Conspiracy theory much ?
@Blizxard . What you said is just that, speculation. Roger was not "flashing the illuminati symbol" he was emulating a common Rasta hand symbol which was popularized by His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie 1, Emperor of Ethiopia, which he most likely took from ancient Ethiopian tradition of the Tewahedo Ethiopian Orthodox church. BTW, I have personally met and hung out with Roger in L.A. and he seemed totally sincere and real. Definitely not a Freemason from my perspective, having known Freemasons in my growing up.
@Blizxard . Nah., Blackwell does not fit the profile of any Freemason I have ever seen. Much too counter cultural and informal. That does not mean he was not involved in plots or conspiracy though. One just have access to the right super rich circles, which he has had for quite a while.
@Blizxard . What evidence do you have that it is an illuminati hand gesture ? Also keep in mind that we live in a follow fashion world. People like to imitate what they see others do. I challenge you to provide a photo of anyone making that gesture prior to H.I.M. Haile Selassie 1, who had been using it from at least in the 1930's.
I don't mind being foolish . are there books written in the language of Rastafarian. when I Googled question I didn't get anything.. I'm one confused ostracize soul in a quandary
w.t.f. i dont care if he is an actor. bob was not the inventor of reggae. the band made bob great. if the wailers played for any other singer they were great. he had the best musicians behind him.
you sound ridiculous... of course bob didn't invent reggae but a leader leads the band... he's the front man for a reason.. if it wasn't for him pushing to spread the music and message then there are no wailers known to the world and would've possibly just only been another primarily Jamaican band in Jamaica and no disrespect to the band because they will always be my favorite band of all time and I'm referring to the band as a whole at the peak of Bob's career before passing... they're great of course not doubting that or downplaying their greatness but who are they without Bob and especially during that era ... peter and bunny didn't want to keep touring outside Jamaica at the time but bob did... the actual Wailers Band who played with Bob (Family Man, Carly, Wya and so on) played for Alpha Blondy, Justin Hinds to name a couple but none of them reached Bob's status and Bob was never seeking the fame... Peter Tosh isn't great because of Word, Sound and Power he's great because he's Peter Tosh... so correction, the Great Bob Marley is great and is King of Reggae for a reason... stop hating...!
I need an update on this archive...need a reggae museum NOW!!!
What a lovely man roger is and great to see linton - thanks for uploading.

Why didn't they get royalties?
As a Jamaican I’m proud to see what the power of our native music does to the world but saddened to see that we Jamaicans haven’t realized that power.

Nice interview. Love the depth. This is IMPORTANT, not just interesting but of a matter of historical record.
Filmed on my birthday...no mysticism Linton!
4th September!
What an honor Roger Steffens, Reggae ambassador. Truly Rasta. Salute Sir.

You should never be ashamed of your nationality. You can only be ashamed of the people governing it.
He's like a American version of David rodigan just without the sound system. Would love to hear a conversation between the two
Show up with his umbrella.. Legend!

He is a poet. He is interrogating Bob Marleys lyrics.
Thank you Malik, I just saw the interview and i agree with you 100%. I found those comments from Linton to be totally unnecessary and condescending!!
When will your book come to Liberia?
Cant Forget "SANGIE DAVIS" The OG Unseen Maestro/Song Writer/Producer/Artist. Whom have Co-Wrote Songs w/Bob

haha
C'mon man.. he demonstrated him nothing but respect and even admiration.
The man is brilliant, he introduced him in a best way possible, you also probably didn’t get his jokes…… what a humble human being
he misqoted "Slave Driver" " Good God I think it's illiteracy. It's only machine that makes money." Human labor outstripped by automation.

Completely agree with you. I found those comments by the moderator completely unecessary.
Why did he ask Linton Kwesi Johnston if he understands patois?
It was a kinda funny and dumb question. I laughed so hard... But Roger is a prankster.
