    I love the relaxed energy of these two. Other pundits are good too but this is an easy listen

    Additional info. While Sasheen Littlefeather was treated badly at the Oscars, and John Wayne tried to storm the stage, the thing is, per her sisters, we now know she wasn't really a Native American, just what is called a "pretendian," so I doubt Lily is going to pay tribute to her in any way. She was an activist but it's too complicated to really highlight her work when she was living a lie. Her sister felt she thought being Native American was more "prestigious" than being (non-indigenous) Mexican. The family wants the Academy to remove a tribute from the museum gallery.

    I am only voting for whomever Francis Fisher is stumping for. 😅

    I feel like Annette is in 5th place, because at one point everyone was talking about the other 4 performances, Lilly, Emma, Carey because she was talked about as the best thing about her film and Margo because she did a great job in the lead of BARBIE, a huge film. Alot of people had an issue with Niad, I don't care if she is Annette Benning, she should be in 5th place. I mean this is why the majority of the population cannot take award shows seriously, because they are just like elections, a bunch of crap. I mean at this point, Bradley Cooper has more of a chance of winning than Carey Mulligan, she who should have an oscar already, because he's part of the bro club.

    Sometimes you say theres a narrative, sometimes you say 'well theres 160k voters so who cares', which one is it?
    I feel like you are just taking both sides so you can come back and say "i told you the narrative was/wasn't a great indicator"

    1:32:22 Not everyone wanted Everything Everywhere All at Once to win Best Picture. Heck, it was defeated at the Golden Globes by The Banshees of Inisherin and defeated again at the BAFTAs by All Quiet on the Western Front. 💁‍♂️

    I totally agree with you on Cillian Murphy. Giamatti is a great actor but it’s not like he stretched too much in the Holdovers, Murphy was monumental even in terms of commitment physical and mental there’s no comparison. Joyce is basically me 😂😂 when I checked Giamatti’s age I was like what?!?! RDJ is older! The narrative is due doesn’t really work here. Also I mean if we really want to talk narratives it’s the time of the Irish, last year 14 nominations 0 wins this year with Cillian performance it would be unjustifiable. And the narrative around best actor in the past few years has become insufferable and they know it.

    Regarding the Independent Spirit Awards, do you think American Fiction will go empty-handed?! It will mostly win Best Screenplay, and it has a chance to win Best Picture ( but it will mostly go to Past Lives).

    Love your show... ok, I don't love Opp... at all. I know that is not a popular take but I don't think it's that great in a lot of ways....

      I agree. I don’t think it’s great. It was too long. Chris Nolan has no idea how to write parts for women.

      I'm not an Oppie lover. I'm like, Nolan, here's your Oscar. Now start trudging through new territory other than cross crossed timeliness. You do that very well. Move on.
      I soooo wish Zone came earlier and picked up momentum. THAT'S A MOVIE!!!

    • @Fallen616
      @Fallen616 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I can recognize that it’s an achievement in film making, but I did not enjoy it that much. The characters felt cold, emotionally distant, and it feels at times, sterile.

    • @timgriffin3368
      @timgriffin3368 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Fallen616 if talking about Zone, that's a bit if the point. You are completely and absolutely a fly on the wall observing their life, observing your life while interspersed with the imagination of atrocities right next door, with imagination of atrocities right through your Twitter, TV feed. Challenges you to think in that way? Did the sounds bother you while watching Heddy try on the fur coat? Did the latest assault in and around Gaza or wherever bother you while having your fine dinner in a fine restaurant last week? Respectfully, maybe this is too challenging.

      @@Fallen616 This is a common complaint about Nolan films and I feel the same way honestly. I didn't love Oppie either
