@TomLeg I like it so far. Construction is good (no glass fuses like some of the cheap meters!) and its readings match an expensive Agilent meter in the lab at work.
I'm glad to have found your channel, definitely looking forward to filtering, so we can go full Oxygène and simulate the sea waves, or create a snare sound for a drum machine. Subbed!
By the way - this video watch?v=JgGz5ieQsGs illustrates the sonic effects of a different type of noise - popcorn noise. I wonder how rare it is to find a modern, silicon transistor that exhibits such odd behaviour.
Interesting idea! It might be a while before I tackle the filtering. I'm building things up very slowly, trying to explain the design at each little step.
@opera5714 they're not destroyed, but if you put them into a different use you'll find they've lost a lot of beta. I'm not saying not to use them, just not to put them back into the parts box.
Congratulations on your EEVBlog multimeter :-)

Didn't have 2n4401 so I used instead 2n3904, worked great thanks.
Nice work! Yeah, I've used 2N3904, PN2222, BC547. They all work. 2N4401 is just what I keep on hand at the moment.

Doesn't just about every DVM use the transistor that way for input voltage protection and they aren't destroyed.
