Imagine being Frost Skarn and hearing some Slayer say "I am not very good with this weapon I must say" and think you're FINALLY gonna catch a behebreak and then he decimates you in 19 seconds flat. Honestly that was kind of messed up IMO you destroyed that Skarn's self esteem
The hammer in mhw and the hammer in here are both niche weapons and having a main of either on your team always feels good. My guild mate has a ridiculous amount of hammer reforges and we always get very excited when he takes it out in gauntlet or H escalations.
The thing about Landbreaker and Hammer micro management is so true haha, often when rewatching my gameplay to see what I can improve I notice that ironically in the runs where I feel the most confident in my management of my hammer gameplay the mistake holding me back the most is the simplest one, just forgetting to press this 1 button every 30 seconds lol. Concentrating on the complex things some times just eats away all your focus and there's none left to remember to do the easy stuff
Hammer uppercuts is probably the biggest challenge with learning hammer manly do to it having a unique set of parameters to actually perform the combo. Trying to hold the movement key in the direction that your character is facing after performing a neutral attack can feel very strict, but once you start to crush behemoths like flies it makes up for it IMO.

yes
Getting Axe reforges increases your power rating for all weapons. You can look at what each one does on your slayers path
