I love slump so much! Han wrote this song when he was at a low when he felt stagnant and didn’t want to make music… it’s so emotional and in my top 10 ❤
Only thing to hate about this song is that it's entirely too short! Watching HANs mouth is just fascinating. His enunciation is always so spot on, no matter the language.

I think this is my most favourite song of all times: rap, falcettos, lyrics, instrumental - everything sounds just so perfect to me, and I relate to the lyrics a lot. there are japanese, korean and english versions, I think I listen to the english one the most because I can understand the lyrics then. Han was in an emotional slump in 2019, he felt like everyone is evolving and he is left behind, so he wasn't motivated to rap, sing or dance and he could't write songs. Chan helped him to write "slump" and this is how Han managed to overcome the emotional slump he was in at that time.
When people start appreciating Hyunjin’s rap I can’t help but recall the story of the early trainee days when Han and Hyunjin used to fight and Han told him to focus on his rap and Hyunjin said focus on your dance. Hyunjin never wanted his visuals alone to carry him. I’m proud of how all of them have worked so hard and have come so far.
My description of Hyunjin’s rap is like him painting, he has a way of adding color and personality to his rap. Once, during recording of a different song Hyunjin was struggling a little with his part of the rap, Changbin told him to just be Hyunjin and he then nailed it. That “je ne sais quoi” that Hyunjin has when rapping is what Changbin wants. (Just a little reminder of Challenge #2, if you forgot what it is I’d be happy to give the info again 😊.)
I love how they can and have created something that is a rockin' hard, easy-listening ballad-style song & that mesh a lyrical rap beat over the angel-whispers vocals, to support an anime theme that's tender yet metal-meaty... (you dig?) this blending of genres is difference..
Great video! SKZ vocals are no joke, they seem so young here but they all killed it 😚 the falsettos here are beautiful. Hyunjin's rapping really grew on me too, all of a sudden he became one of my favourites. There's just something about his tone and enunciation, I feel like it brings real character to his raps. He has some really iconic parts. He also is very versatile in his voice too i think, which people don't tend to notice or focus on. The members are all so talented and have such distinct voices, i love that about them.

One is from pre-debut 3 Racha (and it's a bop), and the other is from the subunit Danceracha, and it's... different. 😅 By the way, you say Bang Chan isn't usually heard in the high pitched falsetto territory, but that is not true. He did a lot in the 2 recent albums this year (in LALALALA, Blind Spot, Cover Me, Hall of Fame, S-Class), and if you pay attention to all the backing vocals, they're I would say easily 85% from him... He has an amazing vocal range, but he prefers to hide it in the background of the tracks. Hyunjin's rap, same happened to me. I was more into Changbin at first, but it was Topline that changed the game for me, Hyunjin's rap in the second verse of Topline is fantastic, and I grew a better appreciation of his particular tone. My fav rap of his is currently the one in Venom, followed by Topline.

Not only do they represent SKZ's own feelings (like SLUMP where Han talks about his depression), but it also portray perfectly the storyline of the anime with OP and ED being from point of view of the two main characters. (they even encorporated storyline things like stairs to the sky - main theme of Tower of God; and train to dreams - the longest arc in the story happens on a train)
First Takes were some of my first exposure to Stray Kids outside of Maniac, Backdoor, and Red Lights. After those three, the first takes were what I found next. I loved getting to hear their raw vocals before I really knew them as a group. It made me appreciate their talent so much more. Absolutely fell in love with their voices. These are my favorites. I hope they go there again soon. Love that we have five songs at The First Take. Slump is one of my absolutely favorites this way along with Scars. 🩶💜 Thanks for sharing with us!

They say Han is the Ace, and at this point I think they all are to an extent, but Bang Chan is the team player. Whatever is needed is where he fills space. When they lost he who shall not be named, and Lee Know and IN weren’t particularly confident in their falsetto yet, Bang Chan and Seungmin did the high notes with Han. If you watched the Kingdom performance of BToB’s I’ll Be Your Man, Han and Seungmin did an amazing harmony that everyone raves over (rightly so) but the higher note right after that (that most miss as a backtrack because the camera doesn’t cut to him) is Bang Chan live after he’s just been rolling around on the floor. Then he kinda stepped back a from it for a bit. (I know there was a period of time where he had to have some sinus surgeries, maybe that’s why? Dunno the timeline) The new stuff on RockStar started letting us see him high again and I’m loving it.

Bang Chan is singing that super high in almost ALL songs btw. It's his hidden harmonies in the songs. If you look for some skz songs "hidden vocals" you will learn all songs are full of Chan's super high an beautiful harmonies that are normally almost impossible to notice. He is literally using his voice as extra instrument. Explains why he says he never sleeps lol, otherwise there would be no time to add his vocals to all songs.
I just recently got into the hidden vocals because of their song "Cover Me," and man... I never knew how much Chan was doing in the background! Like LARGE portions of their songs are just him in the background vocals. Was already appreciative of his vocal talent before but now it's even greater (if that's even possible 🤣)!
