It is about being independent or company too. Individual artists draw fanart and sell it at conventions. I can't see this flying if a publishing company just compiled a bunch of copyrighted fan art and tried to sell it. When it's an individual doing, it's mutually beneficial, so the incentive is to let it be. When it's another company doing it, they are just using you IP under their branding so your incentive is to fight to defend it. 2 things make it different here. Magni is under a "japanese" "company". This makes it a double whamy for getting copyright struck by other companies, so they play it way too safe. Western streamers, like drawfee, are at way less risk because they don't have to conform to japanese copyright law and their art doesn't get owner by another brand, so there's no reason to defend your IP.
