I usually only use this method when I have very hard steel razors and razors that might need to have a bit more metal removed. It can be a faster method, but I always finish up on a 1000 grit stone to make sure that the bevel is as good as it can possible be. Thanks for watching!
Since you have the kuromaku 5k base in the bottom I thought it was a shapton stone but was confused because the sound was different. I finally read the description and found out it was a dmt 1200 haha great demo my friend!
Sorry for the confusion. I turn the Shapton Pro bases upside down to support my DMT. It doesn’t slip as there’s a rubber grill mat under the base that’s brown and red bordered. Thanks for watching!
Awesome. So many stones i haven't seen yet. That one shines like a sheet of metal! Does it really have diamond in it? Great video. Keep up the great work, Johnny!
DMT stones have a perfectly flat aluminum core that a diamond plate is adhered to. There is a 1200 grit plate on one side and a 600 grit on the other side. Each plate has a certain amount and size of diamond to make the grit range for lapping. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your processes for setting a bevel.
Take care Johnny.
I like to use DMT for the harder steel razors that need a bit of work. Thanks for watching!
Nice bevel set Johnny. I never seen nobody faster with Sharpy
lol my Sharpy skills are horrid 😅
Hi. Looks like a quick method for bevel setting
