This is a perfect example of judging the book by its cover. The entire reaction was based on the title: The best singer in the world!”. How can you react to a subject when you didn’t even bother learning how the subject’s name is pronounced? the background of the singer, the origin of the song, what the lyrics of the song is about, what kind of emotion is needed to perform the song, I mean should I really go on further? You picked up a book and read it’s title. Didn’t even bother reading the content. Yet all of a sudden you’re better than the author. You prefer more upbeat and faster songs. This song was originally written for a musical and arranged specifically for Regine to be interpreted as a ballad so why would you expect a fast beat song? If you did your research before opening your mouth, then you’ll probably have a more effective and educated criticism.

It's not always about the belts to identify that you are a good singer. It is how you deliver the message of the story to the listener. That is how she is doing. She is doing a story telling while singing. Although her belts are phenomenal. She is the inspiration of all the aspiring singers in the Phillipines. The best singer ever.

This is a standard ballad. Runs are for sure unnecessary for this arrangement. They will make this song less commanding. Some songs sound good with runs but this one needs to be interpreted straight-to-the-core.

I have seen her sing WITHOUT A MIC! And I promise you, it was truly impressive cause she can throw her voice like no one I have ever seen. Her range is so wide too. I admi though, I have seen her do more complicated songs than this one.

@@partituravid she started the belting in the Phil. There are artists who can belt long before regine in the Phil but Regine set the barometer in Phil music industry. When she covers a song, it looks like it becomes a new masterpiece. She even make it harder and make the level of difficulty higher through her vocal stamina without compromising the beauty of the piece. Thus all of the singers now a days have influenced regine in terms of attacking a certain song. They used regine style at some point. And was very evident. They always used Regines song for a singing competition.

You young music teachers. How can you not know this rat pack era song by Sammy Davis Jr. You kept saying faster, but that would have not been true to the song and it would have sounded ridiculous. I respect your expertise per se, but one can’t judge this song on tempo. It’s made to be a sad reflection on life. Singing to one’s self about the reasons you’re alone. Take a moment to listen to SD JR and her an appreciation for the standard itself and you may change your mind.

This is just a glimpse of Regine’s vocal prowess. In terms of level of difficulty, there are things that regine can do that nobody can in terms of techniques and emotive interpretation. her body of work is far better from other filipino artists and the likes.

Well, as vocal professionals would say if you are well versed with the singing dynamics sitting down, with that super controlled in and out singing and speaking is difficult already and are only done by top tier artist of excellence in singing mastery and extraordinary talent. High notes are impressive especially what shed just done. I think appreciation of true talent depends on once preference and knowledge about the craft.
If I’m not mistaken, this was her concert to celebrate her 20 years in the business and at that time she still has it. Man if you watched her videos esp the old ones you could see how she influenced the new singers in the Philippines. Check out her Piece of Sky and her broadway medley among other things.
