Hard not to watch this and think you're having a conversation with a friend. Even though I don't know him, Alex comes across very genuine and down to earth. More musicians should be like him.
Totally enjoyed this. I've been a Rush fan for most of my life. My son liked Rush since he was about 11 years old. That's a gift in itself, being able to pass on the enjoyment of great music to my child.
Alex is a great guy obviously, and no doubt Iconic. His story when they got an advancement and bought a bunch of gear is the best. No 3 piece band ever sounded or sounds like 6-8 musicians like they do. Thank you Guitar Center for doing this.
I brought two of them and gave my brother one of them for his birthday. He loves it and I love how the guitar itself feels and sounds makes it so comfortable too play.
Alex is the man! I still have a buzzing in my right ear from listening to lime lights last note. Man check out Alex's mixing board, now thats something else. Keep on rocking Alex!!!😎
I got my first guitar when I was 11 years old. I had been training classical piano for about five years before that. I ended up getting an electric guitar, that had a phase shifter a flange and distortion. I played Rush 2112 was the first thing I started playing. It shaped everything about my playing, everything about me. There lyrics shaped my thinking it was just they were the artist in the truest since to me.
I feel that the last 10 min. or so could be used in the (hopefully) forthcoming second Rush documentary film. So much insight here. Seeing Alex like this is so interesting---like a prizefighter looking back at his long successful career and reveling in the memories, but not getting bogged down in them. Alex, we would all love to hear some recordings of your Night Balcony Music!
I love how Alex said he "gets in the mood" and plays guitar on his balcony. Great thing about up here in Canada, it's no longer illegal to "get in the mood" and you can even legally grow your own personal "mood" for personal "getting in the" .
So sad that your mind leaps directly into drugs when he had no mention of drugs. The phrase "getting in the mood" doesn't necessarily mean getting high...unless you have a drug issue (which you clearly do).
@@townshendshean You're an idiot and clearly not a serious Rush fan (buying/owning his model guitar doesn't automatically mean you know the in and outs of the band) who is not in the know of how they speak in code about certain things depending on the situation. Read one of their bios about the early days, or many interviews he has given. Alex has made no bones ever about his responsible cannabis use all his life. If you don't realize that's the subtext of his comment, that he knew that this interview being with a major corporate chain in the U.S. where cannabis is still illegal federally, UNLIKE in Canada, where it is now legal, he pulled a punch there to respect who he was dealing with, then there is no helping you. Alex may have very strong beliefs in certain things, be he is also wise and respectful enough to know when that can affect others peoples lives, jobs, etc. But please, go ahead and judge me based on a tongue in cheek comment and feel superior about who you think you are! 🙄
If I had to decided between the craziness we’re living in now in Ontario and legalized weed I’d take the weed being illegal. Shits so crazy in Ontario STILL. Almost every state in USA has moved on and we’re spinning our wheels here.
I ordered my Epiphone Alex Lifeson Les Paul Axcess in July 2021 from Guitar Center. I'm still waiting for my guitar to ship... I'm trying to be patient and hopeful.
Did you ever get it? Mine is telling journey stories already after its 2 month shipping ordeal from NZ. I live in Australia. I could have flown to Auckland and got it back home in a day.
FINALLY got mine. Two months stuck in Customs because of a clerical error, endless phone calls and eMails to the supplier, Australia Post, NZ Post, Australian Border Force and God, the error finally got cleared up, got to pay a charming 20% import duty to cap off my angst, and wait some more … and then it came. Fantastic guitar that could not be sourced elsewhere: the supplier in New Zealand even saw an order from the USA, so last on the planet?? Very, very well made guitar despite the MIC sticker. Proof that sometimes Chinese manufacturing CAN still produce decent product. Kinda surprising really. Time to learn some Rush tunes!!!
Great interview but I’ve got to ask, with your last words, “you’ve gotta have the pick guard on”, why doesn’t the Epiphone signature access have a pick guard?
Great interview with a great guy! Interesting discussion about pick guards at the end....he says you've gotta have a pick guard yet the Epiphone Alex Lifeson model (which I have)....has no pick guard lol.
Also, why hasn’t anyone asked the BIG QUESTION, “Will you ever ply your signature Epiphone Les Paul LIVE OR IN THE STUDIO, or was this just a money thing? I see famous player, Slash, Joe Bonamasso etc. touting their Epiphone “signatures” axe’s but I never see them using it.seriously, how can it be a “signature” mod4l if you won’t even okay it yourself?
“The definitive answer on the pick-guard”? Funny, this new “Alex Lifeson SIGNATURE Les Paul” DOES NOT HAVE A PICK-GUARD! Personally, I hate the Gibson Les Paul pick-guard, as well as the rest of the cheap plastic parts!
Pointless.....you can't find them anywhere. When you do....people want $4 grand for them....that's right....$4grand for a Epiphone. The early ones also had tremolo problems. Shame they didn't do a better job with these.
Hard not to watch this and think you're having a conversation with a friend. Even though I don't know him, Alex comes across very genuine and down to earth. More musicians should be like him.
Alex is a wonderful human, and an out-of-this-world guitar player, at the same time! I miss seeing him on stage.
After watching this whole interview, I think Alex has the sweetest spirit of anyone I've watched in an interview, and I've watched 100's of them.
It`s kinda hard not to love Alex! Miss Rush!!
Fantastic to see Lerxst looking so good and seemingly happy! I so dearly miss this band.

This is such a great interview, very wise suggestions and advice from one of the greatest guitar players, thanks very much for making this happen 😀
Alex is such a cool dude. What a legend
Great job guys! Touched on great stuff, the gear, the stories, approach to playing....I enjoyed the interview.
Mine arrives this Thursday, I’m drooling over here!!!! Excellent interview…🤟🏻
Got my Les Paul yesterday, It Rocks! thanks Alex!!
Awesome interview! Great questions towards the end. Thank you Alex! Great to hear and see from you and Ged.

Thanks Alex and RUSH for some great music and great memories 👍
Steve this is so awesome. so cool to see. you talking to a living legend
Great interview! Covers the product being sold plus a little ad for Boogie, but still a fun conversation. 👍
What a wonderful interview! I smashed the subscribe button.

Im still waiting on my AL Epiphone which was ordered on June 16th. UPDATE: Finally received it on November 4, 2021. It's nice!
It was my honor to meet Alex at the Rock and roll Hall of Fame induction when he and Geddy inducted Yes . WUSB FM NY/ WAXX TRAXX TO THE MAXX
I've always said that of the top 10 reasons that makes Rush a great band, the number one reason is that they're all really good guys.
Great interview!
I have a Mesa 5:25….great amp! Saw Rush twice, Roll the bones tour and the Blue album.
Super kool dude, I feel like I have known him for 40 plus years, my buddy at the GC in Tampa has my Epi Alex Axcess waiting for me to pick up tomorrow
It's never in stock, i want one and got my order cancelled by guitar center
Pickguard on, I love it and totally agree. That's the way it was intended.
Geddy and Alex bros for life thats pretty cool

And me on June 16th. I feel ya bruah... I feel ya.
Got mine direct from Gibson/Epiphone the day they came out. It's OK but it's not that great.
@@townshendshean u wanna sell it lol?
me too!

Thanks #Lerxst for the beautiful music!
RUSH!!! 2112!! ROCK ON DUDES!!
@Guitar Center just so you know the link is dead
Alex is the Best.
Great interview but I’ve got to ask, with your last words, “you’ve gotta have the pick guard on”, why doesn’t the Epiphone signature access have a pick guard?
Because of the purdy Tiger flame maple top. Why would you want to cover that up? Most players take the scratch plate off as soon as you can blink …
Great interview with a great guy! Interesting discussion about pick guards at the end....he says you've gotta have a pick guard yet the Epiphone Alex Lifeson model (which I have)....has no pick guard lol.
Must be Nickelback fans who gave the thumbs down? Asking for Avril. Alex looks good.

I feel Gibson guitars are over priced
I have a les paul love it but man....
I installed a Rolan GR-55 guitar Synthesizer
Woe.....
26:10 OMG - scandal!
Sure would be nice if you could actually buy one. Very disappointing with all of the hopola, and you can't even purchase one.

Music Zoo just sold 13 new ones at msrp last month.. I bought one 😁
I wish they would make a lefty of that guitar, then I could buy one.
