    Personal Self Awareness is what will bring us all out of this dark age that we are in. This is both on a personal and group level.

    Nowhere in the big book does it, nor does AA claim to "cure" alcoholism or addiction. There is no cure for the disease. What AA does offer is the solution, the tools you need to remain sober. It's up to the individual to maintain their recovery. It only works as much as you work it. The AA big book is the 2nd best selling book in history, second to the bible. I wish everyone the absolute best!!!!

      that's your beliefs though, I don't follow the AA/NA religion!! my religion teaches that God can cure disease!! AA/NA puts the disease in remission but Jesus cured the disease!! i am not an addict anymore, I I used to call myself an addict (false identity) till one day i heard God say to me "you are not an addict, you are a child of God"!! that truth set me free and cured me!! its a truth that has to be "realized"! Doesn't mean I let my guard down, life is full of temptations, but we overcome!! I'm going on many years clean now!!

    This is the clearest presentation of self-identification as the problem, that I have ever
    heard. Awareness, willingness, surrender, non-judgement, acknowledgement, experience as a pointer, integrity of actions....great stuff. I was with him through the
    steps and have identified some of my own to take ala 'My Name is Earl / Rick'. I feel
    lighter for hearing this.

      people of different religions have spiritual experinces, I had an experience, I used to call myself and identity as an addict (false identity) I don't believe in 12 step programs or AA/NA, that's not my religion but anyway, I used to call myself an addict but one day I heard in my spirit "you are not an addict, you are a child of God"!! that truth set me free and "cured" me!! often people call themselves losers or junkies or gay or no good or sluts etc, but those are false identities, we are not that, we are who God says we are! This realization has to be "realized"! even the prophet Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free!!

      @@cheyannamacie6477 But that observer can be observed. There's an infinite regress there. You keep trying to look back at the observer but there is always only the observed.

    I was on 'the programme' for a while, maybe four years. Best day of my life, the night I walked the fuck out of that last meeting I was at and for a lot of reasons. Had I stayed there with 'sponsor' after sponsor and so many, many other addicts who, just like me, basically knew nothing at all about reality - the actuality that a personal self does not exist in the whole, world, wide, recovery programe and obviously does not exist in addiction, just as it don't exist anywhere else, probably saved my life. Very mixed feelings on Heddermann, some 12-step crew will love him (I'm sure a great many already do, you can kinda' smell it or something). Take the actual language he uses, all the expletives and the history of the busts and the rest - bla, bla - this kind of shit is actually dangerous in a place like N.A.. I dunno, does he say somewhere he doesn't go to NA anymore or what, he just gives talks around the whole thing or what, I don't really know, but it's dodgy as far as I'm concerned because it tends to form a strong personality, which simply isn't a good thing among folk who suffer with addictions to substances. I believe he's from Brooklyn or somewhere, so what? I live in inner-city Dublin and all that stuff is, of course second nature. But doing what he's doing, I don't know. Also being so interested in the right t-shirt, conditioned hair cut and all the rest. I'd be giving ole Paul a wide berth, even if he did shoot the Charlie that close to the jugular or whatever.Yawn. There is nothing new or of advantage for the addict, whom it seems to be primarily aimed at, or anyone else here that I can discern. Whole heap of shit borrowed mind you.

      @harrisontaylor-zimmerman6620 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not everyone is familiar with "non-duality" who goes to AA, NA, etc. and for those people the program works if they apply themselves. Honestly I feel like if everyone in the program had a so-called non-dual perspective it would be a fucking mess because the addict mind would just grab hold of those concepts and make itself miserable. Non-duality doesn't help people, you can't "work non-duality" like you can work the 12 Steps. Maybe if you're lucky some grace will come by and push you over the edge of a cliff but that's not something that is under your control.

    Mysticism is trying to dabble in ANY spiritual realm outside of what the One True God ( Jesus Christ ) has established as correct and holy to do. (This includes all demonic/occult ways.)
    Modern religions like the roman catholic church and others have included mysticism into their ways and her daughter the protestants are, in many cases, following along. Those areas include pagan idols, chanting, yoga and praying in ways that leave God's order and commands. (Prayer walking, occult holidays and 12 step contemplative prayer is a few of them.)
    Many people will flatly deny the influence of satan and the occult in this modern age but it is all over. If you are born of and discerning by God's spirit, you will see it clearly.
