Sorry, I live in the chuck, It sounds like Bahl is about the same as a Desharnais who developed into a good defensive defense-man, not just a big tough guy. Altho he may come out of the lineup for Broberg depending on the opponent.

Everyone complaining about getting nothing just doesnt understand that our prospect pool for 15 years had been shit. I get why conroy is putting in all these unporven players in the system.

You are underselling what he has achieved so far. Prior to this year this team did not trade expiring assets ever. Now they are collecting a stable of young prospects and picks. Some will hit, some will miss, but overall I expect the Flames are going to be in a better position in 2-3 years than they are now. Also assuming the pick will be a late round pick is silly. The Devils and Markstrom have both been very hot and cold. If Marky has a bad year this year and next that pick could be a high 2026 pick.
Another day, another awful, terrible move by Conroy. Couldn’t even land their first this year. What good is it when the Devils are contending for a cup and we’re fighting for a playoff spot again? Truly terrible.

We will in noway be competing for a playoff spot unless out of nowhere everyone in the team is lights out. I don't disagree that this isn't an A grade trade and I most definitely would have liked a bit more. I don't think the 1st this year was going to be on the table for Marky unfortunately. We could have played hard ball and said it's the 1st or nothing, but that definitely could have bitten us in the ass. All in all, I'd say the trade is fine, it's more what I was expecting as opposed to what I was hoping for. I would say this solidifies that we are picking a forward at 9. Given that we have have the NHLs defense men at this stage.
The mediocre return is on ownership. Markstrom pretty much needed to be traded before the start of the season and he was in a position to dictate his destination, which I suspect he did after not being happy with how ownership and management played the situation during the season. I feel certain that the offer for Markstrom before the trade deadline would have been far superior to what we ended up getting but our ownership ALWAYS takes the short term view to team building. We sacrifice building a great team by always trying to make the playoffs every single year. The Flames are very unlikely to ever win the Cup under the current ownership.
Who cares what the Devils do. The Flames aren’t going to be competing for a playoff spot for at least 2-3 years. It’s time to collect assets and then (most importantly) evaluate and develop draft talent.
I am still waiting for an NHL team to hire Ryan cause he knows everything about players,teams.contracts and he is always right no matter what side of the fence the issue lands on its amazing, Man teams are sleeping on this guy.
