When i asked him what he missed most about the UK he said the chocolate and his entire family were all in agreement on this, i did laugh, but having tasted American chocolate i had to agree. @@gruunt4064 I'm a Brit in UK, unsure about the arrogant elitist claims, but agree with rest of your points about the NHS. You cannot critique the NHS if in public life here, it is almost treated like a cult by most who are politically to the left. Apparently, we are told funnily enough, by the NHS and its supporters, that the NHS provides great value for British taxpayers. I do know however, that a few EU states provide better healthcare outcomes (which is afterall the overall aim of a healthcare service) such as Germany. One point though, this is a video about UK from an American, if it were a video about Germany from an American, I'm sure those too would mention their health service too, and those who replied would praise it.

Glad you're liking it so far, I suppose we can't really appreciate it as easily when we're natives. You need to travel a bit further north to get some proper fish and chips though. Wait until you taste them when they've been cooked in beef dripping! It adds even more flavour, probably sounds horrible but I promise you, once you've tasted it, you'll never want fish and chips cooked any other way again.

I live just a little south of the midlands and I love that I can walk 20 mins one way and be in town or 20 mins the opposite way and be in glorious countryside. I think sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have such diversity on our doorstep. Wishing you and your family a bright and happy future here.

I love the "wholemeal" bread in the UK. It's like what us Yanks call Wholewheat, but it's grainier and heartier than the American version--so much more flavorful + it's perfect with the super-rich butter. Many foods in the UK are not overly-processed and mass produced like in the US. I love walking into a Waitrose and seeing all the great options. I miss traveling to London.....I hope to return. One thing i did miss out on is fish & chips can vary so much depending on where you get them. The best one years ago in Bham was in hay mills. It was called " this is bedders ". It was brilliant there. He only opened dinnertime & Friday evening up until around 7pm & that was it. Very often there would be 2 queues, one to eat in & the other to take away. It was only a tiny place but it was brilliant.

@@Bonglecat Yes i know it went under new management. I guarantee you it will be nothing like it was when the Bedders family actually ran it. I guarantee the new owners will be opening all the hours god sends as most fish & chip shops do. & because of that it will not have the same quality of fish & chips. If you ever went there with the original owners so you have received their custom try the new one & see for yourself. I live in Southampton so i wont be going there.

I have an American friend who lives here in the UK and honestly, she told me that what she loves most about the UK is the quality of life she can enjoy because of free healthcare and employment rights (better working conditions, mandatory sick pay and vacation pay, parental leave, etc). She says that Americans across the pond overwork themselves too much bcos of a culture of "you better pull yourself up from your bootstraps".
