  • When an opponent has knee on belly, it can be very dangerous. In a real fight, you can have strikes coming in that are hard to stop, and on the mats it means your opponent has control and gravity on their side.
Here is a great escape to use when that pressure is applied. Be sure to pay attention to the details so you don't end up getting spinning armbared or giving up your back.

Very nice technique, I really like how you describe in details. Looking forward to try them. (White belt). Thank you!

Ugh, knee on belly is the worst. This seems so much simpler and more effective than the escape I was trying to learn.

Thank you so much for the lesson! From a white belt usually on the receiving end of the knee :)

If the arm is attached far enough left on the hip you're blocking the hip(and therefore leg) that would have to swing around for arm bar.

김정윤 it won't be possible to armbar someone from that position because the hand is on the hip Which is far too low for an armbar and not to mention his thumb is facing down towards the floor therefore, his elbow is facing towards the ceiling making it much difficult to pull off an armbar from that position.

Not even close. You see that open elbow on his left arm when he does this? That's classic kimura opening along with risk of spinning armbar. It's a big no no at higher level to leave an elbow flared out like this, especially from knee on belly as that arm is the main attack point for the guy on top.

It sounds like he addresses that at about :55 I'm guessing talking/coaching at the same time as you're showing things can lead to a little sloppiness. Good eye, though.
