in my first game vs no ai i felt like ill drop from diamond to bronze....
alt is center and also setting cameras, so when you press alt to create a camera location, whatever you have selected gets centered.
I love the stead stream of videos.
Honestly, i just returned to my usual hotkeys, i couln't even set up camera hotkeys on the core lite, it's so confusing, and i think it's because of my keyboard :l
Do you still use TheCore? I'm thinking about switching to it from Standart. I'm Gold btw.
Presently, I am having a really tough time understanding the layer system of TheCore. I really, really want to get good this hotkey system. Is it better to just play out against the AI and get my feet wet with it? Because, when I start the game, I have literally no clue what my second action should be - first, being to build a worker.

In my german PRM Hotkeys the Hotkey for creating a cameraposition is Ctrl+Alt+I,O..... I have no idea how I should press Ctrl+Alt because there are two buttons between them. :-O Even if I take away these buttons my thumb isn't long enought. :-D
Alt Gr = Ctrl+Alt The FAQ on TheCore thread has most of these kinds of answers should you run into any more problems :)
how did you get the planet backround... I only have 1 planet.
I have it set to planets. I think which planet changes based on the last game type played.
mine stays on 1 planet...

I do wonder why is making a new control group i set with ctrl+shift+(the button indicating the control group). With which fingers should I press the ctrl+shift? It seems a bit inefficient having to use 3 fingers to make a single control group ^^
Edit: I think I got it now, should I use the thumb to press ctrl and shift at the same time when making a control group? I've naturally used thumb for ctrl index finger for shift and the ring finger for control group 1 (in my case being the letter P)
yea yea, you've got it now :) Also, use add to CG 99% of the time. You only need create for re-writing a CG.

Hi :) I was wondering: is the core going to be renewed when LOTV comes out? I assume new units will get added in and some might get removed like most likely sh. At that point I believe the core will outdated and well not very effective so JaKaTaK are and your team planning to update it as soon as LOTV comes out or is it more of we did it, we created The Core now we're moving onward? Either way thank you for your amazing videos and best of everything to you and your team ♥
Thanks for all the compliments! TheCore 2.0 is en route, you can check out the updates on my personal channel as well as contribute on the TL thread. We'll absolutely be updating for LotV. Hopefully this channel manages to become popular enough to warrant giving us a beta key. Took forever for me to get a HotS one and it really put us behind on development.
what is the point of having Alt center the camera, if your going to hotkey your bases before you have a Nexus at any of them?
Alt as center camera allows us to cut out actions when setting up base cameras that are centered on a town hall structure. Instead of having to press a button to center and a combination of buttons to create the camera and a combination of buttons to create the control group, one 3 button combo does it all.
I understand that if you have a Nexas to center on, it's more efficient, but in the beginning there is a Nexas only at one base. So unless you plan to center the hotkey camera once the Nexas is down at each base, there isn't really a point. Also if you wanted to change the location of your base during a battle you would have to hold down Alt before you click to the new location on your minimap, and then hit the hotkey, which is fine, but more confusing then with Alt not being a centering key.
PuzzleShark The time you are saving is when you're setting up and centering the base later. It is pointless to worry about saving time in the stage of the game where the only thing you are doing is building workers. These cameras are meant for bases and not meant to move once centered. TheCore incorporates 2 "free cameras" that are for other purposes and easy to move.
I have a problem with the core, for some reason I can't hotkey my ms/msc to hotkey 6 (in my core setup it is 0) I can add it to the the control group but not create the control group with it, I can do that with every other control group exscept this one. Any ideas what might be causing this? My setup is PRM

Getting back into Starcraft after not playing since around 2012... basically starting again from scratch... would you recommend learning The Core from the beginning?

If I wanted a sport, I wouldn't be on a computer. I would be outside playing a real game that takes real skill and real effort to bodily achieve victory. But my body has not the capability for that, and this effort is even worse. I have even less fun being told how impossible it is for me to be good at this game than I did with real sports that destroyed me in school.
So tell me, why is this any better than just fucking going outside and playing football?
Why did you come to a StarCraft 2 tutorial specifically made for StarCraft 2 players who want to get better at something they enjoy and do not necessarily care about going outside and 'playing football', as you so eloquently put it. If you don't like something, you don't need to watch it.

JakesFavorites LOL mate at the end of the day anything that is competitive is going to require effort, so if thats something you are not interested in investing thats cool just play bronze for fun. However if you wanted to rank up and compete in SC2, drink a bucket of cement, harden up and embrace the core.
P Fernandez Drinking cement would be lethal to the human body. You have no idea what I have been through. Maybe when they give an instruction manual instead of scratch paper for dead weight in the box, I will reconsider.

An instruction manual for StarCraft 2? Why? It is no more complex at its heart than other RTS games of its type.
The strategy behind the game is something you have to learn for yourself. You can take shortcuts by asking for some coaching or reading up pro build orders but at the end of the day... you have to put time and effort in to develop your skill.
Sure Fernandez might not know you or what you have been through but since youre on a video describing an alternative hotkey layout it is safe to assume you have use of your hands.
