Weird analogy that comes to mind here…William Shakespeare is generally regarded as the greatest playwright in history, but his plays have lots of puns and bad jokes that would get any comedian today a shower of rotten fruit. Somehow, he was given special privileges just because he WAS Willy Shakespeare. So here we have Chizuru Segawa - one of the most original, exciting and tasteful guitarists around today, and she’s bashing out the same old trivial nonsense that you’ll hear in any Guitar Center anywhere - and I can’t exactly explain why I enjoy it, except to say that it IS Chizuru…
I've watched many videos of Chizuru playing guitar, especially with the Jazz Avengers. On a personal level I think she should be given the chance to stretch out more when performing with JA. It's obvious she can really shine when given full opportunity. Top notch musician.😎
