It is amazing that after 13yrs the Legacy of Bill Alexander passed on thru Bob Ross is alive and well -- Thank you for keeping the "Magic (and the Almighty Brush) and the Joy (and Happy Mountains) in the minds and hearts of up and coming painters -- or those that just like to watch.
Thanks Jason, as a beginning painter the snow on the mountains was difficult until I watched this video. after watching videos from several other painters, yours was the only one that empathized the paint should be dryish and to use a lite touch. Very helpful.
Screw all the negative comments. Regardless of whether Jason used his own technique or that of others, it is still an awesome painting and a good tutorial for those who doesn't know how to paint mountains.
CiN dY Exactly. I see a lot of comments saying he stole the technique from Bob Ross. Bob Ross actually learned the "wet on wet" technique from Bill Alexander. There is no such thing as stealing a technique. A technique is learned and passed on to others.

Brings back good memories of watching The Joy of Painting when I was a teenager. LOVED painting mountains. So easy. Now I want to start painting again.
I've watched several of your vids so far and it's extremely obvious that Bob Ross was a major contributor to your education in painting. He was amazing as are you. Thank you so much for taking the time to break it all down and explain the techniques as well as you do. You are inspiring and pleasure to listen to as well.
I appreciate this style of painting. I paint wet on wet technique as well. I hadn't been able to accomplish a mountain correctly until watching this. Jason, don't listen to any negative viewers. Ignore them and allow them to move on. Keep doing what you're doing because I learned from you my friend.
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge Jason! This is really beautiful!!! I enjoyed the way you talked us through it as well... This gives me hope again.... (smile)
by the way i am a retired public school District Supervisor from the Department of Education,Philippines...I really am very fascinated with the way you present every lesson...More power,Jason. and God bless.:)
Love your humility and ability to laugh at yourself even this painting is absolutely incredible! Thank you for the lesson. Working with acrylic and watercolor hope mine can look half as good as yours!
That was a great lesson, all i need to do now is get the right tools and give it a shot, there are some lovely mountains in Cyprus i'd love to paint! Thanks Jason!
I love your paintings. I am going to try to follow you and see if I can paint this. I love mountains. I have only painted 3 pictures but I definitely am going to try yours. I love them
na na na...its not easy.....its just your talent.....you are a magician......you just brought the canvas into life....wow! I wish you were my GURU in real :-)
I have watched a lot of your video's from 2013 and 2014 and just came across this one. I can see you have improved on your painting after watch the others and now watching this one. Don't take it wrong though because I think you are a wonderful artist and I have learned a lot from you. Thank you so much for doing these video's! Please keep them coming. :)
yea Jason Bowen is awesome dose amazing paintings and the detail he puts into it is great not to mention just relaxing to listen and watch... i hope to see him have his own show on pbs station one day :-)
Jason I just want to thank you to the utmost for my finally successfully painting a mountain finally in this lifetime! I used acrylic paints though....that's my medium of choice, has been for years now! Thanks again! I'll be watching you in the future! :)
Hey Jason you make it look so easy,But I've found its harder than I thought It would Be! I love huge mountains like this one! You have inspired me to want to be the best I can be! Keep up the inspiration, and THANK YOU!
Thanks for sharing, I can't wait to try and paint a mountain ! I was looking for something simple yet breathe taking and now I think I found it. Thank u!
Jason, this is amazing! I love the mountains and want to learn to paint them. This video is the one I was looking for. I have watched so many. You make it look so easy. I use acrylic paint, hope I can achieve this look. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
i paint digitally but i have to say that this helped me out a bunch, in terms of understanding how to attack a painting where mountains are the main focus thank you
Cordialement. Johanne
Thank you! I'm 15 and I started painting some time ago. I still really have to learn a lot and you learn the most by experience, but these tutorials help me very much! :)
I've been experimenting with different brands and found Winsor & Newton works better than the bob Ross paints imo, but the bob Ross liquid white is still a must. I've read that letting oil paint sit on news paper for a few hours will draw out a lot of the oil (for people who don't have access to BR paints) but I haven't tried that yet. The bob Ross palette knives are great. For brushes I used cheap ones that didn't blend the paint well and hairs kept falling out, but investing in higher quality brushes cured that problem, I also used this video as a base and created a sunset with background and used the same colors to highlight some of the snow on the mountain, I'm very happy with the results and these videos are great for learning the technique.
Thanks Jason, i really enjoyed your painting. please post something on sea. like calm sea, furious sea, big waves, small waves. etc. thanks and looking forward to see more videos.
Awesome display of touch and intuition !! Every mountain is different but the same, Keep it up!! Mount Fuji with a Cherry blossom tree is on my mind :)
I like the fact that you encourage people to do paintings ! ...RESPECT on that, great skill and very helpful ! "YOU CAN DO IT, EVEYBODY CAN PAINT ! " ..... =D
Much like Bob Ross but for a good reason. Ross is now with the Master and it's nice to know that someone from the other side of the world is continuing his legacy. Well done buddy..
I've watched a couple of your videos Jason, thru your detailed explanation and style I've learned more from you (the secrets!) than I have watching Ross or Alexander. Thank you for doing these. Greetings from Chicago.
I love your style of painting using the Bob Ross style he learned. I subscribed and look forward to watching all of your videos. Wonderful painting techniques
Ty so much for this video Jason. You are an awesome painter like how you match a color is right to the T like unreal everything I don't understand that I cannot still for 4 months get these mountains down doing the shadows and put in the Highlight on I don't know what to do
Thanks for the lovely demo. I have managed to paint bob ross style with oil paints i have in my country. Unfortunately the result is not easy to get and it seems the bob ross kit is a must for this style especially his liquid white formula. i had to use traditional painting techniques to achieve these effects with my paints. anyhow another interesting point is the brushes. bob ross brushes tend to be soft, bushy and blender types, be it two inch or the fan. So there you have it, "anyone can paint" used to be his words but how far from the truth he was. He knew this fact and often mentioned in his shows 'if you're using a paint that's not dry, you'll end up mixing mud'. Anyway i tried and tried and tried and got it somewhat nice with my materials. Bob ross equipment viz liquid white, brushes and the dry paints are quite expensive as i observe online. But the bottom line, the joy is in painting and having fun striving to get a resemblance to his style. Cheers.
i bet thousands of people have watch this and and said "oh shit this is so easy" they run to wal mart and buy 50-100 $ worth of oil paint. just get to home and realize oh shit this takes alot of practice haha
You're so sweet, and thank you so much for these videos they're wonderful to watch and very helpful, you make me want to keep painting and trying new things :)

i brushed through the comments...so sad to see some negative thoughts for such a great paint tutor sharing his skills for free! Kep going Jason..
exactly! just sad that people could be so unappreciative and rude....even when something nice and good is done for the general public.
I enjoy your Bob Ross style of teaching and painting, well done! Very talented!
Screw all the negative comments. Regardless of whether Jason used his own technique or that of others, it is still an awesome painting and a good tutorial for those who doesn't know how to paint mountains.

I've watched several of your vids so far and it's extremely obvious that Bob Ross was a major contributor to your education in painting. He was amazing as are you. Thank you so much for taking the time to break it all down and explain the techniques as well as you do. You are inspiring and pleasure to listen to as well.

I made a mountain painting using your instructions, but I used acrylic paint. Thanks for all your videos! They are awesome. :)
Oh wow!! Your paintings are amazing!
It is a very useful tutorial, I used this to draw and paint using acrylic on canvas- my first painting on canvas. Thanks.

Thanks for the lovely demo. I have managed to paint bob ross style with oil paints i have in my country.
