Most people who disrespect GU's league are east coasters who don't stay up until 12am to see a game at USF in front of 3,200 mean fans whose whole year is made by beating GU. Duke is the only team whose league opponents wanna beat more than Gonzaga. It is actually more challenging playing in front of 3,200 people than 15,000 people according to Few and his players. Plus, WCC squads know GU inside and out by playing them 2 to 3x per year. The league has vastly improved in the last few years since they got a new commish who actually has a clue. I believe 6 WCC teams had 20+ or more wins, which was better than some Power 5 and AAC/BE leagues. The Zags are only one of 3 teams in the expanded bracket era to make 5 straight sweet 16's or better, and they did that once with a double digit seed. Not always with #1 seeds. Due to the COVID-19 thing, they were denied their 6th straight, which would've occurred as they were headed for the 2nd overall #1 overall seed, and they would have played their first 2 games in the city owned Spokane Arena. The biggest problem is that distrusting people ignore kenpom.com and other objective metrics which PROVE GU's greatness. You cannot game kenpom.com because it incorporates your strength of schedule. If GU is #1 in adjusted offensive efficiency, it is not due to the WCC. The reason GU made the 2017 title game........look at their kenpom.com rankings on both ends of the floor.

The other loss was against Wyoming in which they were handed one of the worst seeds in the history of the tourney. That was a 2 or 3 seed that got a 6. Moreover, they had to play in high elevation on a MWC home floor against the MWC champ. It was a total screw job. It was a home game from the opening tip. Few also lost to Davidson and a guy named Steph Curry. The game took place 150 miles from Davidson's campus despite GU being a 7 seed and Davidson being a 10. It was a Davidson home game. McKillop's team almost beat eventual national champion Kansas in the elite 8. On the other hand, one of the Zag teams that was a part of this 5 straight sweet 16's or better in 5 straight tourneys (they are only one of 3 teams that has achieved this in the expanded bracket era) was a team that wouldn't have made the dance unless they had won the WCC tourney. Fortunately, one of things that has helped the program improve is that the league has improved with the inclusion of BYU and the emergence of Saint Mary's. The WCC would've placed 3 teams in the field last season if the NCAA tourney was not cancelled. It is not a horrible league if you consider how many leagues exist at the Division One level. It's just not as good as the ACC or Big 10. But unlike a high level BCS team that is super young because they lost every player of importance due to the NBA or graduation, Gonzaga cannot afford to sit at home and play 11 guarantee games vs. Grambling and Wagner to build team confidence and an understanding of winning. They can't play their two challenging non-league games at home or on neutral floors. They must schedule tough no matter what kind of team they've had throughout most of Few's career. It's called playing an inverted schedule, and very few GU haters understand the disadvantages of it. BYU student here. Our basketball team just finished its best season since Jimmer Fredette. BYU was ranked in the top 20 and had almost all seniors in our starting five. Still, the very best we could do was split the series with Gonzaga. We won at home by 13, rushed the court, and partied like crazy (well, as crazy as you can at BYU ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). It took Yoeli Childs having the game of his life and probably BYU's best defensive performance ever to only win by 13. I went to BYU, but I’m from Spokane so I was born and raised a Zag fan. It is weird coming from both worlds during those games. I’ll cheer on BYU football, but I’m a GU basketball fan til I die. Was really happy for BYU though
Adding BYU was one of the recent changes that kept Gonzaga in the WCC (I remember when it was still the WCAC). Changing the format of the WCC Championship tournament was the other major concession. With Saint Mary's and BYU we now have 4 legit conference games. If we can get another school to step it up and get that number to 6 plus dropping a game or 2 from the cellar dwellers and scheduling another game out of conference that should radically help the strength of schedule for all the upper tier teams in the WCC... Fredette ruined, RUINED I SAY! our March Madness his senior year so having you guys in the conference is good payback lol... You guys have a pretty cool campus by the way.
As a Zag fan going to University of Idaho, I will probably stay a zag basketball fan for life. It was many team's years. Few thought this team might not even make the dance. It was probably his best coaching job. But there was no clear cut favorite, no dominant team. What Gonzaga had in its favor is that they were the clear 2nd overall number 1 seed behind Kansas, and their first two games were going to be played at arena 2 miles from their campus. They would've gone to their 6th straight sweet 16 or better. No way an 8/9 team beats that team in what would essentially be a home game.
at flag football class my freshman year, mark few walked by and was talking to the instructor. I was carrying around the football and mark few threw the hands ups. I threw him the ball and not only did he have odell clamps with the catch, he threw me back a lazer tight spiral. still one the best moments of my life

I lived in Spokane all my life from 93 to 2007 wen I had to move ND I even went back for college for a little bit I grew up watching Gonzaga with my godfather I never understood for awhile y he liked them so much but then I watched the fated game against Arizona double OT ND I been hooked since I am a die hard fan I live in cali ND I work stock crew at a store over night so I can wear what I want I always wear my gonzaga work out shirt evry1 who knows me when it comes to the zags leave me alone cause I'll go all in any day for them they just have tht uniqueness of them they were a little school no1 knew then they proved wait a min we can hang with the big boys ( I believe we beat a Duke team deemed "unbeatable" for the Maui tournament) great video love it man awesome work !!!GO ZAGS!!!
Mark Few is one of the best coaches in college basketball! Gonzaga reminds me like the throwback UCLA that will dominate the conference! Most times as WCC Top 3 is Gonzaga, BYU & Saint Mary's!
Mark and his staff are the best, and just like Lisa Fortier, they develop people first, players second! All these kids are hardworking, intelligent, excellent students and all around great young people! I have spoken personally w former players, very refreshing to hear a sports athlete who can articulate, and put together complete thoughts and sentences!, wow! Who would think that!! Go Zags, ,Go Mark, you all the best!!
Thank you for correctly pronouncing Spokane, as someone who has lived here my whole life and goes to Gonzaga's sister university, It drives me insane when people say Spo-Cain
I’m 13 and first year I watched was 2016 loss to Syracuse in sweet sixteen. Next year I went to the first game of the season my first ever and I was like 9 at the time. Say next to my 4th grade teacher who was there and that was cool. Then they made the chip and lost and I was so upset but always a zag fan and love Mark few
So hard to watch. As a Zag fan, if any one of a number of things would have gone right in that game, we would’ve won... karnowski, one of the most efficient players in the game, went 1/8; Zach Collins fouled out with about 10 minutes left to play, we missed a lot of free throws... close but no cigar on that one
University of New Mexico could’ve hired Mark Few back in 2000 and to see how much he put in all this time has made his presence known in college basketball. As a lobo fan, this really made me wonder what we were thinking
I just want to say, you make some of the best sports videos. I really enjoy watching all of them and everything is very organized, well said, and relaxing. Keep it up man.
Since 1999: 10 sweet 16's, 4 elite 8's, 1 runner up, and every year made it to the big dance. Mark Few's career coaching record is 599-124😲😲, would of got win #600 this year if season wasn't cut short!! GO ZAGS!!!!
Yup, imagine being logistically in the most isolated basketball terrain and building not only a contender but a consistent march headache out of a WCC team... Even in the PAC 12 they would be the most accomplished school in the past few decades.
Team to watch out for in the future that's doing the same exact thing: Utah State in the Mountain West Conference. They had the tallest team in the Nation last year and have won back-to-back Mountain West Championships. They're style if play is a lot of dribble handoffs and a bunch of guys who can shoot it from deep. They also just got a 4 Star recruit and they have a transfer from Virginia who will play this season after sitting out last year. They're gonna be a very good team.
Mark Few is incredibly humble. You don't ever hear anything bad about him on or off the court. He's very well respected. I actually go to Gonzaga and I've seen him on campus a few teams. I've asked to take a picture with him, but he always says no because he doesn't want it to end up online or anything like that, but he will stop what he's doing and have a genuine conversation with you. The "cupcake conference" argument is overused and quite frankly not a good argument, considering Gonzaga has just as consistent NCAA tourney success as the blue bloods of college basketball. Hopefully Gonzaga can win a championship next season. I think they have the pieces to do so.
We looking real nice this season real real nice the whole team lights out on offense its beautiful watching continuity screen basketball coach few is a master of that craft and having players check there egos at the door to develop to turn around 2 yrs later and storm the ncaa nobody does it better facts #zigzag #zagup #unitedwezag
I'm sorry we got clobbered tonite. We wanted to go 32-0, but now we got "31-oh no" or "31-done". Congratulations on a great season, Zags & Coach Few. Look forward to winning the national title in 2.022.
From a diehard BYU fan, there is a reason that in the WCC, if you beat Gonzaga your season is considered a success, even if you have a terrible record. As annoying as it is for Gonzaga to always dominate, I’ve got mad respect for Coach Few
And people want to hate on a program who, for the past 4 years, has had a NCAA academic progress rating (APR) that rivals or is only second to Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth and Loyola of Chicago. All the scandal and bribes in college basketball, and snobs have to bash Gonzaga because they happen to win a lot of basketball games most years. People should be celebrating what this program has achieved. I do not get all the hate.
Even though they don't have a football program, I honestly don't think Gonzaga will win a national championship until they switch conferences. When you're in a conference, you play everybody 2-3 times a season. Scheduling just a few out of conference games against other good teams isn't gonna cut it if you want to go all the way. You need to be consistently tested imo. When's the last time a non power 5 school won the national championship (should be power 6 because of the Big East)?
Gonzaga ruined my bracket one year by upsetting a blue blood lol. But I like and respect Mark Few. I pick them to go to at least the Elite Eight every year. As a North Carolina fan, they gave my team a thrilling game in that Championship game. I like the way Gonzaga plays fundamentally
I’ve watched Gonzaga because I’m a byu fan they are very good. But people who still disrespect them because of the wcc are stupid byu was a top 20 team last year and this year they have votes to be ranked, st Mary’s is usually good, San Francisco has beat Virginia this year. The wcc is not the reason people should be disrespecting them
Until he wins a championship he will not be considered ahh great coach yes he is about his business and they stay consistent every year but when it comes to college ball getting there is ahh plus but winning is what makes it hard to forget u...all n all Mark Few is a secret assassin who took on the task of building a who the hell are they college to we must play our butts off cause we play Gonzaga next...ohh n they beat my Jayhawks this year u gotta salute that I'm ahh Realist n Gonzaga is foreal
Always stacked? Their first top 10 recruit EVER comes in next year. The teams with the most talent are the ones like Duke, UK, KU, UNC, etc who snag the best recruits year after year. Gonzaga’s talent is nowhere near theirs usually but they’re still always up there with them
Dawson Gilbert college ball isn’t about who can bring in the best recruits it’s how they can build a system around older players with more experience and iq they recruit mostly through the transfer market, trying to bring in guys who will buy into playing their role on a winning team. Gonzaga runs their program different than duke and Kentucky. Just because they recruited Jalen Suggs this year doesn’t mean next years team will be more stacked than other teams they’ve had before
Zack Young good point. The Zags try yo get Gonzaga guys, not just good guys. However, the talent level on the Dukes and Kentuckys is greater, even if it rawer
Their conference is comparable to the AFC EAST and the Patriots run. I’ll give Mark Few his credit he obviously is running a great program. Just can’t deny the fact there’s no rigor in their conference. ACC and Big 10 have tough games almost every night.
The thing that is not addressed in this great piece are the IMMENSE advantages than Gonzaga has compared to every non-BCS school, and in fact, the vast majority of BCS/AAC/BE teams. Go to this website: ope.ed.gov/athletics/#/. In 2018/2019, Gonzaga's men's basketball program earned, despite the school only having an enrollment of 5,184, $16,147,924 in revenue. Their program had $10,496,251 in expenses. Both figures are better than any Pac 12 team besides Arizona. Few turned down the Oregon coaching job two times despite Phil Knight's backing. In 2018/19, the Ducks had $10,348,633 in expenses. Their program had $10,918,131 in revenue. Yes, GU spent more money than Oregon on their men's team, and generated way more revenue. Let's compare a SEC team with a powerhouse football program: Alabama. The Tide generated $16,028,795 in revenue. This is despite the fact that 'Bama had $15,966,875 in expenses. This is a very common theme with football powerhouses. They spend on basketball, but they don't make good use of the money. Gonzaga is capable of spending more than $10,496,251 on men's basketball, but why do that when you can land top 100 players (including #5 ranked Jalen Suggs, who just signed his LOI) and can be only one of 5 teams in the expanded bracket era to make 5 or more straight sweet 16's (and it likely would've been 6 this year because they headed for the second #1 overall and were gonna be able to play their first time games in the Spokane city owned arena. Note this streak includes one year when GU was a 11 seed. It’s not just favorable seeding.). If you do your homework on this site, you will discover than GU, on average, spends more on their team, and most of all, generates more revenue than most P5/AAC/BE teams. And if they don't, their numbers are comparable, and other team doesn't have a Mark Few (and his staff), nor their overall recruiting prowess (especially overseas). Gonzaga, more than anything else, has proven once and for all that having big time college football doesn't AUTOMATICALLY give you an massive advantage over teams who don't. Jay Bilas needs to get a clue. If want to call GU a mid major PROGRAM, you better place an asterisk next to their team, because they are spending 3 to 4 times more on their team than most non-BCS teams. And the pathetic thing is that non-BCS AD's for many years were canning their coaches for failing to make their programs into another Gonzaga. The non-BCS firings have slowed over the past 4-5 years as AD's have figured out Gonzaga is just spending more money on their team and generating more bucks than they ever will. They need another barometer by which to measure their programs. Beyond program expenses and revenues, other things happen at Gonzaga that have led to where they are today. For instance: 1) GU flies to every road game on private charter. There are still P5/AAC/BE teams who don't do this or don't do it all the time. They fly commercial. 2) For the past 5 years, GU has had more games on the ESPN channels that any team besides Duke and UNC. The WCC's contract with ESPN is basically to get Gonzaga. Granted not every game is a 9pm ET tip (which leads to some misunderstandings from east coasters on the so-called strength of GU's league. A top 10 league by definition doesn't SUCK. It's just inferior to the Big 10 or whatever. No team besides Duke faces more hostile league fans than GU does. When GU plays at Santa Clara, it makes the team's entire season if they win. It's something Bronco players can tell their grandkids about. It's not like playing Monmouth at home. Moreover the league has improved since it got its new commissioner. The WCC would've sent 3 single digit seeded teams to the dance this year. That’s not a sucky league.). But still being on ESPN is a massive advantage. 3) Every GU game that ESPN doesn't get can be seen on Root Sports NW (which GU has multi-million buck contract with and can be seen with Direct TV and most cable systems with a subscription. The WCC doesn't black out games), CBS, FOX or the CBS Sports Network. Their exposure is immense. Think of all the Pac 12 games that are not seen by Direct TV viewers like me who still cannot get the channel. 4) There are very few better places in the nation to recruit from than the Pacific NW. It is the single most underrated factor in GU's rise as a program. There are very few D-1 teams (especially high major teams) in the Pacific NW area and yet no shortage of talent. You can hide players in the Pacific NW that you cannot hide in Chicago or even in small town in Ohio. While it's true that current Gonzaga starting SF Corey Kispert chose GU over Notre Dame and Virginia, if that kid had been a Cincinnati kid, he would've been a consensus top 50 player and recruited by most P5/AAC/BE teams. But why would most ACC or SEC teams even bother travelling all that distance to recruit a Pacific NW recruit unless he's a one and done player?? 5) Almost no one is going to beat Tommy Lloyd on an overseas recruit who wants to not go pro. As soon as Shem Karnowski landed in America for his GU and California visits, Bill Self, Thad Matta and Coach K tried to get him to visit. Sorry. Current GU assistant Roger Powell did a lot of overseas recruiting at Vandy. A couple of times he thought he had some kids, and then Lloyd came into the room. Powell joked "it was like John Wooden coming into the room. I knew it was over. I was wasting my time by being there." GU has established a reputation for developing overseas players into NBA prospects so much (especially bigs) that they pretty much have western Canada and Europe locked down.
There are several other points I could address, including what this piece addresses about Few being a special personality amongst coaches. I bet he retires before 65. He will not be a Boeheim. He has many interests besides basketball. The big development of late is that to complement Coach Lloyd's international recruiting, they are now starting to get some American guys like Suggs and Harris who could start for blue bloods. They’ve gotten a lot of top 100 kids over the years, but no one like Suggs. They are deeply involved with Chet Holmgren and Paolo Panchero, two top 5 kids from the 2021 class who GU is in much better shape with than some experts think. I think Few is going win a title before he's done. They are likely to be the preseason #1 team next season if we have a season (due to the coronavirus situation) and three dudes who declared for the draft (without agents) choose to come back, which they should. And it cannot be emphasized that GU's athletics program is competing with Harvard, Dartmouth and Columbia to be near the top of the NCAA's APR (academic progress report) standings. They do it the right way. No FBI scandals, no shoe company monkey business, no paid off players, etc.
I think you should consider writing scripts for your videos. At one point it sounded like you were rambling on a little. You also mentioned “Mark Few is good at coaching bigs” three different times along with doubling up on some other facts.

It's a shame the season was cut short for every school but more so for Gonzaga, this could've been their year.
at flag football class my freshman year, mark few walked by and was talking to the instructor. I was carrying around the football and mark few threw the hands ups. I threw him the ball and not only did he have odell clamps with the catch, he threw me back a lazer tight spiral. still one the best moments of my life
"Top dogs in the sport". I see what you did there Cole XD

@@ColeAdams Eventually you end up in the "doghouse" for those lol
Gonzaga is a consistent basketball program that will eventually win a National Title
you think so now?🤣🤣🤣
@@tahaad.0 Yep, I think so.

Karnowski was my Favorite college player to watch for some reason
and don't forget his beard! :)
Few will never leave Spokane and the zags. He has been offered so many amazing gigs. He won't leave!
It's really nice to see someone give my school some love!
I don’t get why people keep claiming why Gonzaga always chokes. If you look at their results in the last ten years it isn’t the case at all
If there was march madness this year who knows Gonzaga might of won it all
Go Zags
I can answer that, 20 years of playoff appearances and no chip.
@@TheGrandOptimist95 well at least we made to national championship and if there was march madness this year we probably gone there again and maybe won
Go Zags
TheGrandOptimist There are only like 6-10 teams in the last 20 years that have won a championship, not to mention Gonzaga rarely got top seeds until recently
Every year it's always a Cinderella story and they choke. Lol I was hearing the Cinderella story shit in like 2004
I lived in Spokane all my life from 93 to 2007 wen I had to move ND I even went back for college for a little bit I grew up watching Gonzaga with my godfather I never understood for awhile y he liked them so much but then I watched the fated game against Arizona double OT ND I been hooked since I am a die hard fan I live in cali ND I work stock crew at a store over night so I can wear what I want I always wear my gonzaga work out shirt evry1 who knows me when it comes to the zags leave me alone cause I'll go all in any day for them they just have tht uniqueness of them they were a little school no1 knew then they proved wait a min we can hang with the big boys ( I believe we beat a Duke team deemed "unbeatable" for the Maui tournament) great video love it man awesome work !!!GO ZAGS!!!

Lmao I love in Coeur d Alane so same
We try to go to a game at least once a year
I live in spokane
As a lifelong Spokane resident and Gonzaga fan, I love this video. It can be hard to not respond to haters but we know how good we are (:
Mark Few is a living legend.Gonzaga is stacked In 20-21.
Best thing to see after getting off work, a Cole Adams video
Love to see it JC! Thank you!
Now they’re the favorites to win this year!
I love this channel. Especially the college football and basketball downfall or story of videos! Keep it up man! Great channel
Agreed!
That title game was officiated very poorly by the refs bad calls on both teams.
@@dawsongilbert968 I feel like refs want the underdogs to lose
Dawson Gilbert it was an ugly game no matter who you were rooting for
karnowski so disappeared in the game
I’m still mad about missed goaltending call in the Northwestern game
University of New Mexico could’ve hired Mark Few back in 2000 and to see how much he put in all this time has made his presence known in college basketball. As a lobo fan, this really made me wonder what we were thinking
my favorite college team, Gotta rep the city
I hope Gonzaga or Purdue wins the tournament soon.
At least you got Gonzaga! Rip Purdue
I just want to say, you make some of the best sports videos. I really enjoy watching all of them and everything is very organized, well said, and relaxing. Keep it up man.
A new subscriber here from the basketball crazy country the Philippines. I am avid fan of Gonzaga University Bulldogs. I 💕 Zagsssss
Gonzaga consistently schedules tough non-conference opponents...this is one of their core principles and one of the keys to the rise of their program.

Another New Cole Adams Video!!!! Loved the video!
It's to bad that march madness this year. GU was looking really good this year.
I live less than half a mile away from him in Spokane Washington and play basketball against his youngest son
Since 1999: 10 sweet 16's, 4 elite 8's, 1 runner up, and every year made it to the big dance. Mark Few's career coaching record is 599-124😲😲, would of got win #600 this year if season wasn't cut short!! GO ZAGS!!!!
Can’t wait to watch them next year, my bet to win the national championship
Close.....
Yup, imagine being logistically in the most isolated basketball terrain and building not only a contender but a consistent march headache out of a WCC team... Even in the PAC 12 they would be the most accomplished school in the past few decades.
Fun Fact. One of Few's favorite hobby is fly fishing.

As annoying as it is for Gonzaga to always dominate, I’ve got mad respect for Coach Few
from The past 10 years this Basketball team caught my attention.
the zags are one of the best!!!!!
He is the Coach " K " of the West ! Classy gentleman, skill coach. Pax Christi ! Coach Few !

Great video .. GO ZAGS ...
I wish he become an NBA coach. He is very good.
Spokane wont let him go haha
College basketball good video good job. Gonzaga
West coast basketball at it's finest
Go Zags!
i’m happy that he pronounced gonzaga correctly
Even though they don't have a football program, I honestly don't think Gonzaga will win a national championship until they switch conferences. When you're in a conference, you play everybody 2-3 times a season. Scheduling just a few out of conference games against other good teams isn't gonna cut it if you want to go all the way. You need to be consistently tested imo. When's the last time a non power 5 school won the national championship (should be power 6 because of the Big East)?
When gonzaga starts recruiting players that look & play like Baylor's players,,THEY'LL FINALLY WIN A CHIP!!!!🤷♂️
Here when Gonzaga is #1 in the country and beat 4 ranked teams
Hey cole Adams is alive
Do one on Roy Williams
5:00 Gonzaga lost to UNC in the championship final.
Do a auburn video
uhhh new video 😩
thank you :)
Cole you from Indiana??
Do a what happened to Pitt basketball
Man gonzaga is that one team that’s always stacked but never wins the big dance
Dawson Gilbert Ye facts that’s why they haven’t made it over the top yet. If they combine upperclassmen with high ranked recruits that could be deadly
Their conference is comparable to the AFC EAST and the Patriots run. I’ll give Mark Few his credit he obviously is running a great program. Just can’t deny the fact there’s no rigor in their conference. ACC and Big 10 have tough games almost every night.
Maybe you'll be there year next year baby
You all know that the WCC puts 2 teams in the tournament a lot... dont sleep on the Zags
I met him
i'm so sorry to correct you but in basketball its Power 6 not 5 because the Big East is one of the best conferences
Maybe he counted the Big East but took out the PAC-12😂😂
Zag nation!
For instance:
1) GU flies to every road game on private charter.
