I grew up on an isolated farm along the Orange River in that region. As you're walking through the landscape, childhood memories came flooding back. The silence of the desert and the feeling like you're the first person walking across the clean, pure sand; the fresh scent of the wet earth, preferable to any perfume and the sound of water across the ancient rocks - so beautiful and peaceful. When you leave that desert region along the Orange River, it makes a wound in your heart that never heals. So many memories. Now we have waterfalls of tears. 😭 Thanks soooo much for sharing.
Very eloquently put. I was there walking along with Jors too. Out in the American west I've found many places where you hang your feet over a ledge, or soak in isolated hot srpring. I just love being out where you can't find a radio station on the FM dial and let the belt off your head and let your mind expand to fill up the vast (goo) emptiness.
What a magnificent video. sight and sound transported me to walking beside you Jors. The rock formations, seeing water flow in desert sand and hearing the waterfalls was fantastic therapeutic stuff. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it, it is a pity that people do not get to do things like this anymore. As kids we spent so much time exploring the local rivers and streams, nowadays kids do not do it.
Awesome, thank you for sharing. I live in New Mexico, White Sands Missile Range. High desert about 1450 meters, highest mountain peaks north of 5000 meters. We have had some wonderful extreme rains. Wish I could post pictures of some of the dry creeks/streams and water falls flowing. We have a large number of oryx, some large herds, imported in the 1960s. Anyway, thanks for sharing and the adventure. Miss South Africa, awesome country, I lived and worked some 6 years in South Africa and 2 years in Namibia. My wonderful lady is Afrikaans from Paarl. Cheers Jors
Wow it sounds like you should get soem footage of that. I was planning a trip to the US for June 2020 , had the VISA and tickets in hand then Covid happened. I really want to see the Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico areas. Cheers
This brought tears to my eyes. It is truly a miracle to see this clear water flowing so strongly over those ancient rocks. I just want to get a bucket and water all those trees that wait so patiently for just a tiny sip. Thank you so much for sharing this, you are absolutely right to be excited about this wonderful sight. Regards Val
Hi Jors - Ek kan nie anders as om te te sê (i) ek mal oor jou videos, (ii) Het 2020 daar deur jou geweste gery saam klomp vriende - van Pella al teen rivier af tot in Richtersveld, (iii) gaan versker by Doring kamp kom slaap. Dankie vir hierdie water storie - so besonders. Dankie x 1000.
Thanks for sharing Jors. I had two thoughts. 1. Wonderful sights and sounds for us that appreciate and enjoy God’s creation. 2. And our municipality’s lack of maintenance makes us see that amount of water gushing out of the ground regularly. This past week there were two burst pipes in our suburb alone mere kilometres from my home.. 😎
Thanks. While going down again i filmed it better , better, more flowing, but it did not seem as exciting as going up. Maybe I should edit that one as well.
Thanks for sharing your one of your favourite happenings, it's easy to just think Orange river if one doesn't wander the area like you to find gems. Sterkte en mooi loop
Thanks for the hike. The water sounds almost reminded one of another part in the world and not those areas. That is proof of the 50mm report. Good one.
The falls get pretty big at peak flow, this time there was less above the falls, but enough to get it flowing. In 1998 that waterfall was a torrent of water about 50m wide.
Hello hy loop seker weer na die reen wat julle gehad het, ek is n karoo kind maak my ook opgewonde om sulke stroompies te sien. lekker man. Maak ook oneindig bankdaar vir water...
I did not swim this time , no time. It takes the springbok some time to dsicover it as they have a regular water source, but we see their track there after a while.
@@JorsMalan They don't take any petrol or batteries.... We don't need much to stay entertained. Simple kids cars. But it's about the creative story that makes the fun ;)

Completely unpolluted water, must smell and taste brilliant.
Even at the end of the run like this it still tastes a bit like soil, but it is pretty good.

Mee too, i could have watched teh water flow all day
Absolutely awesome 👌
Don't know what was better sound or seeing the crystal clear flowing water.
Thanks
An interesting series of small waterfalls. It makes for a temporary Paradise.
The pools of water remains for some time, and the Springbok go there for some water.

Thank you, that was a wonderful walk.

Wow it’s so clean!. Thank you Jors for sharing
Most of the pleasure in making the video is sharing the experience.

Skoner water gaan jy nie sommer kry nie. Baie mooi.

That is truly unfortunate, and too common. Water is so precious.
Amazing and beautiful
Amazing video, thanks for posting! Some of those trees look ancient!
Thank you. Yes, those trees are amazing.

I could have watched that for hours…
I could have walked around there for hours, it is mesmerizing the way the water flows
Jors. Dis vrek mooi. Ek wens ek was ook daar.
Baie mooi ja, en so vreedsaam.
Se net vir my waar is dit. Baie dankie
Dit is op Klein Pella, so 50km Wes van Pofadder
@@JorsMalan Baie dankie Jors
How's the Fish River Canyon?? Is it flooding?
Kabbel, kabbel. So vrolik.
Hope you had a little dip in the water.
Do the animals rush over and drink?
I did not swim this time , no time.
It takes the springbok some time to dsicover it as they have a regular water source, but we see their track there after a while.
Wonderlik
Are you going to check back to see what sprouts there after the water infusion?
Not much changes, I regularly go there and it dries out so quickly.
Hi Jors. Wat is die oorsprong van die stroom? Groete
… na waters waar rus is… ♥️
Where is this? Please... 🙏🙏
It is on the Farm Klein Pella, 70km Northwest of Pofadder.

you would need a lot of batteries, or fuel.
