    Wow, first time seeing your channel, but it was a really polished video. You seem like the first one to get out a video on this thing.
    I think people sometimes bring up the Picopresso as a surprisingly competent espresso machine for around the same price point, but the Flair Neo Flex does seem like a better option as more of a daily driver, especially if we could just figure out some way to get that pressure gauge to work... Hmm...

    I got the standard Flair for Xmas. It took me watching some videos to figure out the red pressurized basket - and realize I needed the bottomless one. I actually ended up getting a flex as well, partly for travel, but also because for the cost of the case and an extra brew head, you could get both attached to a flex. I like the simplicity of the system, and now that I have the routine down, I can produce a pretty good cappuccino in

    How does the body and lever arm feel in use compared to the Neo? On the table, it looks like the lever arm is shorter than the Neo. If that is true, how much more force does it take to produce the same pressures? While using the Neo Flex, does it feel like the plastic - well - flexes? Does the base feel as stable on the table?

    I think for me the OG flair is still the winner (I’m after one of these as a camping / travel solution)
    1. I am experienced and don’t like the idea of a consumable pressure relief system

    That was an awesome "Deadpan" moment, then let's look at it from build stand point, the Flex is made of Plastic and Neo is made is soild Metal. Like the name says, if one Flexs it too much, it can lead to micro cracks thus the pressure release system. Which the normal pressure guage does not have. So if one cracks it with too much flexing what will be the outcome 🤔.

I already have the Chesnut C3 grinder, which I've read is solid for espresso, and I think my wife has one of those milk frothers, so if I'm trying to stay under $100, is this the move? Or are there better products or things I'm missing?

    • @danielleanderson6371
      @danielleanderson6371 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you really want to cut costs and are less concerned with adhering to a strict definition of "espresso," you could do an Aeropress with the flow control filter cap to get something very espresso-adjacent. Plus you can also use it for regular immersion brewing and a bunch of other things, so it's a bit more versatile than a Flair, at the cost of not making "real" espresso. Other than that, you may want to find a solution for milk-steaming, but there are hacks to get something many would call "good enough" for not much money.

    Didn’t the old Neo retail for $120 a while ago? So it’s only $20 less in exchange for a bottomless “portafilter” and cheaper construction? This seems really disappointing, the pressurized portafilter already has the functionality to work non pressurized, so by including the bottomless they’re not actually adding any new functionality. This should’ve been even cheaper considering you lose the more durable (arguably more stylish) metal construction. Also losing out on the pressure gauge means you lack the upgradability of the old neo. This thing should be cheaper than what they’re charging for it

      Clarification: visually it doesn't seem like it fits, it's clunky as hell. He could brew a coffee yes but we had no visual on if the gauge actually worked or if the coffee brewed well. Would wait for other tests, one example is not enough if the manufacturer says it isn't compatible.
      My guess is that the differences with the lever (materials, height) between the Neo and the Neo Flex would give false readings on the gauge, hence the statement from Flair.
