Great tune but Rutherford was not Marple. Christie herself didn't like the films. Joan Hickson is considered to be the closest to what Christie intended - a bird of an old woman who used her knowledge of human nature. Rutherford's Marple had done fencing, chemistry and goodness knows what. Many of the adaptations stray wildly from the novels and Murder Ahoy was only tangentially connected to a novel - They Do It With Mirrors - but otherwise was new. As said great tune, but otherwise mediocre films.
Margaret Rutherford was an excellent actress, also Stringer Davis. He was her husband in real life. I love only these Miss Marple movies from the early sixties.Best Miss Marple ever👍👍👍👍The music of Ron Goodwin is excellent too
I see somebody else was going crazy trying to find as well. and I was lucky, I found the regular version in real stereo and the full all 4 movie themes version that my friend Johnny T. made DES stereo.
I know I goofed, I've got the 4 dvd box set of her I knew it was 1965 , sometimes I type too fast and I don't check if it's correct. I also have Tony Randall in ''The Alphabet Murders'' 1965 where she and Mr. Stringer has a cameo in the film, that was the last time she appeared as Miss Marple , I was so touched when I saw that scene and heard her theme playing over it.
Murder most foul was made in 1964 but the release date was delayed, so it was released in 1965. There’s always a difference between the year a movie is made and when it was in cinema. More than 60% of the movies were in cinema the following year. Even in these fast times it’s still the case.
Johnny T. has his own site he converts mono songs in to stereo that's called DES STEREO ''DIGITALY EXSTRACTED STEREO'' for record companies to make them stereo. It separates the sound so it can be mixed into stereo. And yes it was on an album in England that was released a few years ago, The regular version was released as a single in 1962 in Europe only, and the master tape of that version was in real stereo.

I still prefer the original 'in the film' versions. Rougher and less polished than the released versions but I just like it better.
