    Thank you Rachel. As a newish believer (saved Dec 2020) you have helped me understand the importance of working with diligence in my home. I'm far from perfect, but with God's grace and strong, biblical women to look up to. I finally realize I'm not a failure just because I haven't been taught to run a home, but turning to Christ and having faith and trust in him, these things will come. Thank you again!

    I started making bread this year. It has a deeper meaning for me than just wanting to learn how to make bread. Mothers before me have done it for centuries to prepare food for their families. I’m not talking to my mother for various reasons, and it breaks my heart as I watched her make bread. Now, I make my own bread, in my home. And I involve my 3 year old son in it and he absolutely loves it. It’s such a sweet time together and making new memories.

    My husband wanted me to try making fried chicken for the first time this weekend. I didn't have the timing down right to go in tandem with the sides to which he said, "You need to know how to do it right." Which I gently reminded him it was my first time and I'd be happy to let him watch the children while I cooked. It was a humorous moment

    With an understanding that church gathering on Sunday is a blessing and a "we get to!" event, my children still are not attracted to and do not find church particularly desirable. And yet, of course, Church is something that has been and continues to be a "rule" in our home. I'm curious how when a church attendance requirement is laid out and there is still no desire on the part of the attendee...the kids....what is to be done. I want it to be their desire but when it's not and I tell them we are going anyways....what's to be done?

    • @j.d.x4451
      @j.d.x4451 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      One thing that may help is regularly meeting with other members of your church during the week. Church is more than just Sunday morning worship, but the gathering of a body of baptized believers. Try to show them it's more than just a rule, but a community that you live within. And if they are older, talk with them about their attitude of worship is just as important as the attendance.. God is the one who looks st the heart.

    Hoping I can get a response here, I’ll summarize as short as I possibly can. My wife and son are living in Mexico, and due to the process of immigration the US citizen (me) must have current residency in the US, DURING the process. So I moved back home to my home state of Washington and they’re in Mexico. We are struggling very hard with it recently, as a few months have passed already. I came home because I thought I was supposed to follow and obey that law, so I didn’t want to falsify that I was living in the US. But now I’m wondering if I’m failing my duty as being head of the household, especially because my wife is taking care of our 2yr old son all alone. And I’m not able to be a father to my son. What is right and just before the Lord? Stay here in the US and obey this rule and leave my family, or stay with my family and be the husband and father I’m supposed to be? I just want to be with them. And we think the process is gonna be 2yrs long.

      Do you have a church with elders you can talk to about it? I'm not meaning to be dismissive, but it seems to me like the TH-cam comments mightn't be the forum for either giving or receiving nuanced counsel.
      There's a bunch of Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches places (same communion as Doug's church) in Washington that you could check out if you don't have a church yet.

    • @fujikokun
      @fujikokun ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just my humble opinion but at that age, a boy needs the mother much more than the father, and in ten years when he’s thinking about what it means to be a man, you don’t want to have to explain to your son that you broke the law. I guess I feel like it’s more important that you set a moral example for your son than it is to spend time with him. But that’s just one woman’s opinion. Person above me is right in that it would be good to ask leadership in your church.

    • @oliviahart7524
      @oliviahart7524 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would talk to someone who knows the ins and outs of immigration. I know several people who are becoming Mexican citizens and then have to leave for a week or so every 6 months. That keeps them compliant until they have proper paper work. You shouldn't have to be absent from your son's life for 2 years. A few weeks is no biggie.

    • @browserboy1984
      @browserboy1984 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go be with your son.
      Most laws are written by godless psychopaths to please the people who pay their bills.
      Most church councils are run by people who want to enjoy their golden years by treating church like a social club without a care for what the Bible actually says to do.

    • @HappyToBeKLB
      @HappyToBeKLB ปีที่แล้ว

      I would seek Biblical counsel from your church elders as another mentioned, but I’m wondering how your wife feels about this? What are her thoughts? I can’t imagine my husband being gone for two years :/ I’m sorry you’re in this situation. The Lord promises us wisdom when we ask for it in faith and do not doubt. He will richly provide, as He certainly knows what is best. I will pray for you right now!
