Rare case. Thank you for your video. I have a 7 year old Golden Retriever. We recently had a growth surgically removed from his rear left leg, between the knee and hip, not close to any of the two joints, in the middle. His Histopath report unfortunately identified a rare case of a parosteal osteosarcoma. Could you please do a video on this specific type of Osteosarcoma. I don't think I will choose amputation, but I don't want him to be in pain, so I am interested in learning more about pain management. I would also like to understand estimated time lines for this rare type. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. I love him like one of my children

Can metastatic lung cancer be treated which has spread through a past case of osteosarcoma.

Metastatic lung cancer in dogs, especially when it has spread from a previous case of osteosarcoma, can be quite challenging to manage. Several treatments can be considered but the overall response once it spreads to the lungs is guarded.
Chemotherapy: This is often the mainstay of treatment and can help control the spread of cancer and alleviate symptoms. The specific drugs and regimen would depend on your dog's overall health and previous treatments. Other drugs like Palladia can be considered.
Palliative Care: Focusing on the quality of life, palliative care includes pain management and supportive treatments to ensure your dog remains as comfortable as possible.
Each case is unique, so it's important to consult with a veterinary oncologist who can tailor the treatment plan to your dog's specific needs and circumstances. They will take into account factors like the extent of the cancer, your dog's overall health, and how they have responded to previous treatments.
