- In this episode, we explore a coastal forest, seek some rare birds, visit a hidden fort and learn how make and serve traditional zulu beer - Umqombothi. Dlinza Forest in Eshowe is a great destination for birders or anyone interested in ecology. It is such a pristine and beautiful forest, which offers the opportunity to spot some endemic and endangered birds. We were luck enough to spot many lifers in the forest, and then we enjoyed a tour of the historical and cultural museums in the area, which are also well worth a visit! A big thank you to Brendan and Natalie for so graciously participating in the filming of this episode - it was great to have our family featuring in our video, sharing such interesting insights and information with us and our viewers. Another big thank you to our amazing tour guides who shared such extensive knowledge and passion for preserving isiZulu history, culture and heritage.
Beautiful forest!
Thanks! We love it too!
I enjoyed your video on Eshowe and the Dlinza forest. Did you know Eshowe is an onomatopoeic name derived from the sound made by the coastal winds through the forest canopy.
That’s cool!
